Those are all "body bound bolts" They have a shank that is larger than the threads. When you install them you ream the hole to tightly fit the shank of the bolt. That way the bolt also acts like a dowl pin. They don't come out easy. You are not going to spin the bolts. You have to spin the nuts off and then drive them out. Most times they get damaged while being driven out. When you get new bolts the shank diameter and shank length are important. There are larger diameter shanks available because if you are swapping parts around you will need to ream the holes oversized and instal the larger OD bolts. Being you are using the same parts on the same frame rails, you won't have to ream the holes unless something gets damaged. I swear I met you. Did you stop around Eugene Evans shop with Tom Zacny? Or maybe with Thackray or Joe Capecci? -
It probably could be restored but it does have a good bit of rust on the fenders and around the nose, it’s a good parts truck, I’m going to gut the doors ( but leave them on the truck) I’m thinking of taking the air tank out of the sleeper and air starter off of it and put it on my H Model one day,, I grew up with that sound and I don’t have a truck with air start, and it’s all there,, but I’ve got more important things to worry about for a while. Gathering materials for a bridge to our shop is top priority. I just had an opportunity to get this parts truck before it got scrapped.

Not wanting to bugger up the Green Hornet thread I thought I would start a fresh one with all the details For sale. 1964 N257TL. 262 Cummins, 5 speed with Eaton 3 speed tandems. Runs and drives well. Currently registered and insured. It went to the Cortland show last year. Cool survivor truck, and is a good candidate to restore, or just get mechanically sound and leave the body as is. It has many new parts, and certainly depending on distance, you could drive this home. I intended to keep this one, but 4 trucks is more than enough for one guy and something has to go. Asking $9500.00. I will negotiate some. Any questions please ask. Located in Johnson City NY. All wheel drive R models are designated RM600, all wheel drive DM models are designated DMM600 etc. They're more common in Canada I believe. Can't speak to who made the front axles. -
Thanks for all the suggestions after looking at it closely. The paint shop installed the new latch with that plastic wedge under the hook part upside down. I flipped it over and that changed the angle so it doesn’t pop open. -
This is describing and solveing a problem. Truck started cutting on and off going down road after starting up and going about a 2 mile. Tried shutdown override and did not help. All gauges looked good and radiator full. Truck finally quit completely. Started testing with power probe cab relay and starter relay on firewall and would turnover. Disconnected positive battery cable and was getting 12 volts on cab relay with key off on negative side. My multimeter was shipped to fluke for repairs. I said it must be a capacitor somewhere that hasn’t completely discharged. Hooked farm service truck to truck and lowboy and ran air hose to services tanks on truck and pulled it home about 2 miles because getting dark. Next day remembered I put negative firewall relay on other truck but could not explain 12 volts. Took relay off 91 model and installed on 94 model. Went to hook up positive battery cable and found problem. Crossover positive cable had rubbed on battery box and had gone to ground. The ground relay had done its job. That explained 12 volts on negative side of relay but probably few amps knowing all I had was power probe on battery. Live and learn. Simple things first.

Mack AC help needed: We have a chance to acquire a very well used Mack AC that served as a log truck. It is not stuck and is fairly complete save for the cab but possibly did not have one. The engine is not stuck and supposedly ran in the 1980's. It has brass data plates on the seat riser that were not readable. It has solid rubber tires. How can we tell what rating it is and how heavy it might be? It looks fairly long. Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated!· 0 replies
