Well I was over on the diesel gypsy's site looking aroun and figured I would update my blog a little. It's 11:55 pm and the boys turn 8 months old in 5 minutes. It's going to quick for me, They both have 3 teeth and they are both crawling. Very fun it is, anyway I about lost my job this week over a big misunderstanding. When I got hired i was supposed to make my f endorsement "Which means for hire" on my license. I took 2 loads out on tuesday and when I got back they said I had till friday to ma

I've been working on a project in Honey Harbour,
Ontario, Cananda (A couple hours north of Toronto),
and I have driven back and forth a couple of times.
Just some observations:
Boy, do they ever use a lot of axles.
And axle spreads of all different sizes.
I'm guessing that is for the health of the highways.
I was pleasantly surprised to see the number of Mack
cement mixers and dump trucks.
A lot of the mixers have tandem steering axles,
again, I'm assuming for the per axle weight.

I'M AN UNCLE. MY BABY BROTHER RANDY AND HIS WIFE JAMIE HAD A HEALTHY 8pound 6 ounce BABY BOY FRIDAY NIGHT AND I HAD TO LET EVERYONE KNOW.....YIPEE. RANDY AND JAMIE HAVE BEEN MARRIED FOR 7 YEARS AND ARE AS HAPPY NOW AS THEY WERE WHEN THEY FIRST MARRIED. IT IS HEART WARMING TO KNOW THAT THERE IS STILL THAT KIND OF LOVE AND COMMITMENT LEFT IN THE WORLD. I'M VERY PROUD OF THEM BOTH. JAMIE HAS GOT TO BE THE BEST SISTER IN LAW ON THE PLANET. SHE NEVER FORGETS OUR BIRTHDAYS OR ANNI
Check out Photo #34.
(In the state of New York - we give everything numbers -
since our governor took the title of Client #9)
Anyway - check out #34 in the ATCA - Macungie photos that
Barry posted the link to last week.
It's exactly what my R-600 looked like as a new truck.
And - it's where I'd like to go with it. After the B-67.
I probably would not use the fender mount spot mirrors.
Sorry I missed Macungie this year. Looks like a great turn-out.
Got my sights set on Barry's show in t

I think everyone, everywhere is starting to be
affected by the rising cost of fuel and petro-products.
For quite a while I really didn't notice any great difference -
now, however, it's a different tune.
We are getting letters from our vendors daily, notifying us
of building materials price increases. And I believe that the
price of a new home in our market now costs the builder
about 5% to 7% more money than six months ago.
That's huge, when you consider that the average new home

I've been to Brook Park,Oh. and back. Unloaded in Roanoke last night and came home because the phone has been out since Monday night. Had a thunderstorm Monday night and lightning struck a big chestnut oak tree about 20' from the end of the house-too close for comfort! there's still bark and leaves all over the ground. The lightning struck the very top and peeled a strip of bark all the way to the ground, going around the tree like a corkscrew. I'll get a picture this weekend.
The truck ran fine
Last day of vacation is over,so back to the old grind. I was ready to go after a couple of days off, now it'll take a while to get motivated to get back at it.
Hope they fixed the list of problems with the truck, instead of just putting somebody in it and sending them on their way.
By the way, water, hot sauce, and soap does NOT deter rabbits- -as a matter of fact, they must think it's pretty tasty-3 of them were in the garden last night, one was standing on his hind legs holding onto a cabbage pla
OK we're about in the middle of summer, that is
if we get the usual three or four weeks of good weather.
Finished in Pennsylvania last week. Now back to the Mack shop.
And - Tom, I did check out Beach Lake on Google Earth.
You can see the farm perfectly. It's impressive -
but, kind of scary actually.
Checked in on the B-67 today. Looks like I will spend the next couple
of weekends removing dents and grinding welds smooth in preparation
for painting. After the trouble with getting any w
Well,my first day of vacation is about over-i'm ready to go back to work. Got up at 3:30 this morning, for no particular reason. Climbed up onto the roof when it was light enough to see and fixed the shingles that the wind blew off earlier this year. Used a homemade ladder I built out of some treated 2x4's I brought home. Weighs about 9,000 lbs. but it worked OK. I didn't replace the shingles, just put a lot of tar on it. Then I went over to Wal-Mart and got a weedeater and a sprayer,so when we go

OK - 1st day of summer - Everybody look quick!!
Actually it's been really nice here since April, if a bit
unusual.
I should be finishing up in Pennsylvania this week, and
back home to continue the B-67 progress next week.
There is a man with an early R model Mack single axle dump
truck that I have posted about before near Beach Lake, Pa.
Goes by every day empty one way and loaded with dirt the other.
Great fun listening for the old girl, as the property we are working on is
in the midd
...yeah,this is a giant steel mushroom on rt. 51 in Pittsburgh,a random shot from Phillipsburg,Pa ( -Jobyna asked lots of questions about this picture-lots of people have probably never been through Phillipsburg, and wonder what it looks like! ),a couple of Mack dump trucks on I-77 in W.V,a big Mack all-wheel drive wrecker in Broadway,Va, the load of cement mixers I picked up in Malta,Oh, the old Cedar Grove Truckstop on rt. 60 in W.V,the old truckstop in Ansted,W.V,and the old weigh station ju
Dang it! Got up this morning and looked at the peach tree in the back yard, which was full of nice big peaches as recently as yesterday evening, and it was stripped bare! They weren't quite ripe, just starting to turn red,but apparently they were ripe enough for whatever ate them. A few were still on the tree half-eaten. I don't know if it was squirrels, racoons,a possum,or crows-crows ate all the cherries off the tree, and the rabbit about got the beans before I started spraying them with the hot sa
Checked on the truck shop this morning.
The cab reconstruction on the B-67 is actually
progressing nicely, finally.
The welder is a really talented guy - just hasn't been too
focused.
I'm happy with the work, though. And I doubt anyone will be
able to tell what was repaired.
So, all in all, it might have been worth the wait.
Back to Pa. on Monday, and probably done with that project
in about two weeks, if all goes well.
Had to cancel out of going to Macungie for fear of divorce court,
Well,I got in one trip this week anyway.Went to Export,Pa. with a load of beams-that's near New Alexandria, but I didn't have time to stop and see Barry.Or more likely,he doesn't have time to fool with me. I had to get over to Malta,Ohio and get a load of cement mixers and everything that goes along with them. Had the trailer loaded from back to front, front to back, side to side-had 2 stacks of plastic bins piled up in the middle to 13' 6",a couple of wheeled carts, and the rest mixers.
Unloaded
Sat home again today.Called Jeff this morning and he told me to stay by the phone,he'd call me back as soon as he found out something about the truck. That was the last I heard from him. I called the shop about 4:00 and Neal said Jeff had already gone home. The truck IS supposed to be ready tomorrow though.
I even took Jo out to the Chinese buffet in Altavista because I was driving her crazy, and that's a short trip for her. The orange stuff on a stick was pretty good. Actually everything was g
Howdy folks! It's that time of the year again! Hot weather, sun burns, allergies, bugs! But wait...there are good points to summer, too! Cooking on the grill, swimming, scantly dressed women and yes...truck shows! Tis the season for those gleaming giants to bask in the sun for all to see and appreciate! It's hard to find anyone young, old or mid life crisis that doesn't love a truck show! We go to 2 big shows every year to sell truck parts. I wish we'd go to more, but it is just such a h
That's in answer to the question "how's it going?"
I'm sitting here waiting for the air conditioner guy-after calling about 4 different places,I finally found one in Altavista that said they'd be here sometime today, but I have no idea when.
Called Jeff too. He said the parts for the truck should be in today,so I won't be going anywhere today. Not only was the head gasket blown, they're putting a camshaft in it too because that had a lobe wiped off. He sounded very disgruntled,as there's no wa
With the demise of dump trucking, in my area, and the soaring price of scrap metal. I have spent just about all of my available time creating a purpose built Ford F 350 scrap car hauler. I will try to get a couple of pictures posted later.
