Truckin' Again Again (recycled Title)


I've been to Brook Park,Oh. and back. Unloaded in Roanoke last night and came home because the phone has been out since Monday night. Had a thunderstorm Monday night and lightning struck a big chestnut oak tree about 20' from the end of the house-too close for comfort! there's still bark and leaves all over the ground. The lightning struck the very top and peeled a strip of bark all the way to the ground,going around the tree like a corkscrew. I'll get a picture this weekend.

The truck ran fine-I turned the fan on manual when I started up Sandstone mtn. and it never got over 200 degrees,and Jimmy fixed the air conditioner so I have to wear my parka while i'm driving. Jimmy said it stayed at Cat most of last week,and they found the radiator was stopped up-wonder why they didn't check the radiator the first 3 times I took it over there because it was running hot,and they said 3 times nothing was wrong with it?!!

...not the weekend yet,but I took some pictures anyway-I'm still here waiting for a load of steel going to Saginaw,Alabama to get to the shop :unsure:

If we could harness the energy in those lightening bolts,

we sure wouldn't have any energy concerns. Tough stuff -

and it looks from the pictures that it was too close to home.

I've got a huge Tulip Poplar tree on the hill just behind my house

that had the same looking strike several years ago. Although it's a few

hundred feet away, it was still too close.

Thought it was a goner for a couple of years, but it's back and

going strong despite its' scars.

My two big dogs both freak at the sound of thunder. One heads to the basement

and hides under the steps, and the other shakes like a leaf and crawls into bed

with us. (At night only - during the day we don't let her into bed with us)

Actually they're not allowed on the furniture - but I doubt if you'd keep her down in a storm.

yeah,Otherdog (the beagle,not me) is terrified of a storm too. That's the only time Jobyna lets him on the furniture (I let him do whatever he wants,gets us both in trouble!)

uh...by the way-why would you be in bed during the day in the first place,unless-oh...never mind...that's really nunna my bidness.I must be off. :D
