Big Jim's Big Burger

Just when you thought there were no more old time truck stops left, I stumbled across an old 76 that was closed for years and just reopened in North East , Pa. off of I90 and US 20 across the street from Kwik Fill called the North East Travel Plaza. I pulled in to get fuel and didn't know what to expect, well first they pumped my fuel for me,cleaned my windows and it had a restaurant in it that i could smell the good food cooking all the way out to the fuel desk. So i walked in and met the owner and got a menu took it back to the truck and showed it to the boss (my wife " Princess Carrie Bell") . She said we should give this place a try and i agreed cause it smelled really good, so off we went inside. It was just like the old time truck stops they had a signature burger on the menu called The 18 Wheeler -Full Load is 2 LB and the Half Load is 1 LB.

Me being the big guy that i am i thought i needed the full load, when i ordered it the owner came out to my table and informed me that i was the first one to order this massive burger. He was very excited to make it for me. When it came out i was in big guy heaven !! Wow what a burger, Everyone was focused on me and my huge burger. The owner came over took my picture and other customers did too. Everyone kept asking "Are you going to eat the whole thing" My reply was yes of course. I ate it with no problem and the fries it came with and the free dessert the owner gave me. I walked out of there feeling like i went back in time.....................

I know exactly where that truckstop is-you can see Lake Erie from there. I've stopped at the Kwik-Fill across the screet many times. Last time I stopped I got 2 sloppy joes, and they weren't very good-not like they used to be. Looked like the store was open over at the new/old truckstop, but I didn't know they had a restaurant too. Now i'll be hoping for an Orchard Park load so I can check it out...I'll have to go with the smaller burger though. Or just git one of the bigguns and eat leftovers for a while. That IS a fine lookin' sammich!

HOW??

How could you possibly eat that thing?

It looks like three or four double cheeseburgers all piled on top of each other.

Nice to hear about a good old fashioned truck stop. The big chain restaurants

just aren't that good.

I don't remember the exit number, but it's east of Erie-almost to the N.Y. line. You can see lake Erie behind that truckstop, the Kwik-Fil and a Macdonalds is across the street from it. It might be the first exit in Pa. after you come off the thruway. Or if you're on the way back, the last one in Pa. It's on the north side of the interstate.

I think you would like it , I also had mushrooms and swiss cheese on it which cost only $1.50 extra. If you ever get up that way you should try it . I give it the Big Jim Guarentee ! Cuz i know you gonna like.. LOL
