I used to own this truck. It is a 1975 DM897SX 375, 5&4, 20k 65k rears, 100 ton oscillating 5th wheel (3 1/2" pin). Original owner was JP Ryan in CT.

It was really rough when I bought it -- needed hood, fenders, bumper, motor work, rear rear, etc. I put it back together and painted it the original green and black. Wayne Hetrick bought it from me and added the winch and repainted it his colors. He then sold it to the current owner.

I tried to restore the truck back to the way it looked when new. The truck came with a chrome bumper from the factory so I put a new one on. The yellow "Hog Dawg" and "The Ox" were added by the current owner.

I think a little chrome can be a nice accent but I agree with you -- too much chrome actually takes away from the truck. I posted a couple of pictures I took when the truck got out of the paint shop so you can see the way it looked when I had it.
