Yeah could would be dramas in the future, mainly electrical dramas in later life, but what old bucket of bolts doesn't

i would be more concerned about having 800 liters of water in the fuel tanks

I was wondering about how it ended up in that much water (flood ??)  looks like at some point the water was even higher.  

Would be guessing the water was only inches deep when it got bogged

By the time help arrived it was this deep

Australia is very flat and floods can be many miles wide and often havev no local rain when flooding occurs

I see.  We don't get floods like that here in the area I live. Usually by the rivers if any.

These types of floods might be 20 mile wide and 50 - 60 mile long and shift slowly over hundreds and hundreds of miles, silent and un assuming 

Here is video of my mate Goldie stuck a few years in his Kenworth "Brute"

Truck is named "Gold Finger" and is in incredible condition for the country it runs in

We don't see much of that here (if any)  We have flooding, but in general it's usually not as far spread out.  Looks like being a truck driver there is a demanding job.

That weould be the rare exception, not the rule for truck drivers

I think like anywhere in the city or the country most times things go this wrong we probably shouldn't of even been there in the beginning if we had of used common sense

That's some extreme truck'n.  Not to sound stupid, but I'm guessing there's a reason for the high air intakes other than they come in handy for something like in the video.   Thanks for posting.

Clean air, not just from dirt but also from turbulance from the truck moving thru the air

On cab over trucks of this vintage it was worked that the gap between the cab and trailer was under vacuum when traveling fast

This sucked dirt in but also meant the engine was running like it would on high mountain

You gotta be quick Rubber Duck as the outback is dwindling 

Flirting with disaster must be a common occurrence in the outback. Just driving through water that deep and coming out the other side seems like after the water went above the fuel tank vents (unless the vents are plumbed well above the water levels they encounter) and the fuel pump created a vacuum in the tanks it would pull water into the tanks and the fun would start sometime not too long after🤪
