  1. Haven’t been on here in forever since my email changed. (661)303-2719, give me a call. This site’s changed so much I don’t know how to navigate it very well.
  2. Found an air leak on my shutterstat valve where the rod comes out. Got a 61' G model with an NH250 Cummins. What seals the air inside the cylinder? There are 2 rubber type plungers that are inside the cylinder and a smaller rubber dome shaped piece towards the top where the shaft comes out of the cylinder. Is the smaller one towards the top where it seals? It doesn't fit snug around the shaft. Has anyone rebuilt one of these with parts from a local parts store? If so what did you use? I would upload a pic but my images always fail to upload. The new format on this site is terrible, at least for me to use. The old site was a lot more user friendly for us technology inept. Thanks in advance.

  4. I've picked up a 61' G model a few years ago from the original owner. He told me it had a 250 Cummins in it. This truck had the original plates on it with a 62' registration tag, original title, it was pretty much a time capsule. I have tinkered on Mack engines but have little knowledge of Cummins. It has a turbo on it and a tag on the fuel pump says NT-280. There's another tag on the drive pump that says NH 250. I was under the understanding that a 250 Cummins didn't have a turbo and I'm assuming you could've put one on at a later time but he seemed to have kept the truck all original. Can anybody with any knowledge of Cummins give me any tips how to better ID the engine? I've got pics of the engine and tags but can't upload any. The site tells me the pics are over 14mb. I'm not computer saavy.
  5. I've been out of the loop for some time now. Decided to get out of the heat and crappy air of California's Central Valley and head west to the Central Coast. 60-70 degree temps year round and clean air has been good the last year and a half. Only bad thing is I sold my place to move and my Nack collection took a hit due to the fact I wouldn't be able to find a place to store all three. It was a tough decision to thin the herd but it will be a much greater quality of life for the whole family. I sold my H63 and H61 to Brad in NC but kept a completely original, one owner 61' G Model. Currently renting a place with no RV storage so the G is safely tucked away at a buddy's trucking yard until I can buy a place with a small RV storage. Whenever that day comes it'll be great to be able to work on the girl year round without getting a heatstroke like I typically did in Bakersfield. Shitty thing is 2 weeks prior to moving the family over here where I'd been working for 6 months I was taken off work due to a back injury. Workers Comp here is a complete joke. I work for the state but this department needs a complete overhaul. Needless to say I was forced to go through all the hoops they require and had to go under the knife of a state quack. At 41 yrs old this wasn't what I'd planned but had no choice in the matter. No relief after the surgery and an epidural a few months later with no results I was able to choose another Dr. Come to find out there were 2 injuries and only 1 was addressed. Not what I wanted to hear. 2 more epidurals that did not provide any relief and waiting for another approval for another surgery to fix what the other so called Doc overlooked or decided not to fix it. Other than all that BS and not being able to do anything pretty much cause I'm in constant pain, the family loves it here. I figured I'd be catching waves like I used to on vacation here but it hasn't turned out that way. Could be worse but I gotta get fixed so I can get back to work before I get forced into retirement. I've got faith in this new Dr and praying it works out cause I really don't have a plan B. I've got the career I'd always wanted since childhood and I definitely don't want to go out this way for sure. Anyway that's what's been happening with me lately. Haven't had any truck progress to post but it's been great to follow everybody else's projects. Haven't seen hide nor hair of Rob, Morgan, Paul VanScott or Garth. Anybody know what's happened to them boys? Seems I don't recognize many folks on here anymore other than Super Dog who always seems to be cornering the market on all of the barn finds.
  6. I agree on keeping it too or if you'd like to free up some shop space you could store it at the beach in CA. at my place, no charge.
  7. Nice. Doesn't get any better than an H63. I ended up moving to the beach and had to sell my H61 & H63 to Brad Wikes cause space over here is a premium. I kept my 61' G model cause it was the cleanest, most original one of my bunch and I'm holding out hope that when I buy a place I can find a house with a small RV parking spot for it. Been a few years since I've gotten to tinker on anything and I sure do miss it but clean, cool air and being able to surf anytime has lessened the pain. I sure don't miss the smog and 110 degree summers of California's Central Valley at all. Good find and hope you get to have a lot of fun with it!

  9. Relocated to the beach so finding a lot big enough to store 3 trucks wasn't realistic. I kept my 61' G Model. It's too clean and original. Pretty much just needs to be taken apart, painted and put back together. RV parking will be a priority while buying cause I'm not getting rid of all of my trucks. Brad seemed like a good guy. I know he'll fix them up right and appreciate them. I know he just went through a split with the wife and she took down his web page. He has a FB page now. Brads Classic Trucks.

  12. Found a decent H63 for sale in Winnipeg if anybody's looking for one. Says it runs and drives. Somebody better snatch her up.
  13. Got the G home yesterday, spent half the day cleaning out the inside. Underneath all the dust and dirt was a pretty nice interior. All the gauges and labels are in great shape. I even found some old emergency road reflectors still in their boxes, two aluminum thermos looking road flare holders full of flares. Cab jack has a bad seal and one of the rams is leaking pretty bad so I couldn't jack up the cab. Gonna pull two rams from my stash to stick on there and hope I have the old jack from my H63 laying around so I can check out what's under the cab tomorrow. Will keep you all updated with what I find. So far so good, I'm impressed with how well this old boy took care of this truck. He definitely took pride in his truck. He was proud to sign over the original title and hand me the ignition key. Hope to hear it fire up soon.

  15. Tires on the G model are 22.5" by the way. Here's the REO. The REO has been there quite sometime as you can tell by the tree growing up between the grill and bumper. The grandson says he plans on restoring the REO at some point but I hope he atleast cuts down the tree soon. Fortunately it hasn't done any damage other than bending the grill in a tad.
