  1. Hey does anyone know if Mack or some aftermarket place makes a chrome shift handle for a Mack T310 transmission. I have an 05 Mack Granite CV713. Thanks Kurt
  2. I originally took it in because it was grinding from high to low. They replaced the synchroes and clutches and a couple of gears. When I got it back it was still grinding not as bad. The service mngr seid lets give it some time. I drove it not quite a week and a half. My days at the quarry are 7 am to around 230 pm then I go to my other job as an aircraft inspector at an airline. Took it back and they had it for 1 week. Determined that the shifting fork was worn took them 2.5 days to get it back together, spoke with the mechanic that worked on it and he me told that was his first tranny rebuild and he was sorry it took so long. The service mngr showed me the shifting fork on the first visit and said he thought it would be good to go. The first visit was 2.5 days $4200.00. When he mentioned the bearing he didn't show any real concern, like it was no big deal. It never made the chattering noise until after. Very intermittent at first now pretty regular loaded and empty. Bearing location is back wall of main box if I remember right a little to the right/ passenger side about half way up. Q. Are either the 13 or 18 tranies any stronger? The service mngr said to me that this is too much truck for that tranny. This truck was speced out brand new as a 3 drop axle dump truck from Mack GVW 70,000 lbs I can get out of the quarry with 73,500 gross with overwieght permit. Q. If I go that route I'm still stuck having to deal with them because of ecu issues. I know this is really long winded. Thanks for all the advice Kurt
  3. Hey Guys I have a 05 Mack Granite 6 axle Dump Truck. I have Mack 370 and a T310 tranny. I had the back bow rebuilt at the local Mack dealer 6 weeks ago. 218,000 miles at the time and $4200.00. They told me at the time that there was a bearing "a little loose in the main box" now I have chattering sound at 1400 rpm's loaded. I went over to Mack and they said it would be cheaper just to buy a new tranny. $6500 plus labor $10,000 with clutch and motor mounts. There tranny comes with 2 yr unlimited mileage warranty. I guess what I'm asking, are there good remans available. Am I stuck putting that tranny back in or can I go with a 13 or 18 speed. Without going into detail that back box took 8.5 work days to get right and 3 different visits. I don't have a whole lot of faith in the Mack Shop. I don't figure I have too much time before I have to commit to either a new or rebuilt tranny. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The couple of other times I've posted you guys have been a wealth of information. Thanks Kurt
  4. Hey thanks for all the help the problem I'm having is a lot of the places sell wheels up 01's. Iowa 80 has VIP I found out but I didn't really care for any of the styles. Grant has one that is leather and wood chrome spokes I think I'm going to go with it. I give the guy in NY a shout just for giggles. Thanks Kurt
  5. Hey Guys I have a 05 Mack Granite CV713. I'm looking for a Wood and Chrome 18" steering wheel and not having much luck I know I will need a hub adapter. 7. Just got the call from mack one of the bolts came out in the shifter, I'll bet it's the one you're talking about they had it less than a day I got it there at 9 this morning and they called at 3. I got a chance to look inside one at one trans rebuild shops this morning he said all the same kind of things u said. Thanks for the reply Kurt
  8. Hey guys I have a 05 Granite with 370 and T-310 Trans 208,000 mi. I've been having an intermittent grinding from Hi to Lo that has progressively gotten worse. I told the shop it was a 8LL and they said should be no big deal until they realized it's a Mack trans. They researched and inspected and found a pin worn and I guess a synchro bad the pin is not allowing the gears to fully engage on the Lo side. They can't get it back in until after Xmas. Any other thoughts or suggestions. There telling me $1700.00 for parts and 16 hrs labor maybe more once they get inside. Thanks Kurt
  9. Yea I saw it but it's too long all my connections are on truck side
  10. Hello I have a 05 Mack Granite it has 3 air tanks 2 on the right and one on the left. The left and lower right one are both corroded and starting to leak. Any ideas where the best place would be to get some used ones preferably aluminum? What are the chances of getting these welded is that even an option? Thanks Kurt
  11. They charged me for download and labor 322.00. Sounds like I need to make a call tomorrow. The last 6 of my vin 019446. Can you explain the clutch adjustment it can't be that difficult? I know it takes 2 people. The truck has 191,900 miles when should I be thinking about draining the coolant if it hasn't been done yet? The idler pulley, belt, tensioner and comp valve don't have any idea what this one is list to call, clutch adj., download was 930.00 I can't tell you how much I appreciate all the time and info you've been a wealth of information Thanks so Much Kurt
  12. I just wanted to update you guys on the info you gave me a couple mos. ago. To Mackpro I did the 12B upgrade seems smoother and a little less thirsty, runs a little hotter about 5 or 10 deg. and oil pressure's down about 5 psi to around 60 psi. It's only been 2 days so far. My mechanic asked me what all the 12B did to the engine I told him I didn't know and that would ask you guys. All the belt and tensioner info was very helpful found a broken idler pulley on the accessory belt and had them change belt pully and tensioner. Checked out the clutch fan now it cycles a lot more often than before. My only gripe about the dealership experience is when they told about the 12B said it would be $200 and take about 1.5hrs didn't say 1.5 labor on top when it took him 35 min. Then they said clutch needed adjusting charged me 1 hr for that and it took about 20 min. So how do I adjust my own clutch? I haven't done manifold press. gauge yet it's on my things to do list. Working 80+ hrs a week leaving me a little time on weekends for grease, tires and preventative maint. still need to polish all the wheels and tanks. Again a great big thanks for all the previous information it has come in very handy. Thanks Kurt
  13. Thanks guys I'll print all this out and keep on file. I think I'll go with the mechanical gauge because the Mack dealer is not very convenient to get to. That lightning bolt does show up every time I start the truck. Thanks again that's a big help. Kurt
