TRUCKS! Not only Mack, I am especially fond of oddball cabovers as evident by my D, G and a conventional that is close to a cabover, a U-747.

  1. Rest peacefully Ed. Condolences to his family and friends from the Maney family. It was a pleasure to know you.
  2. What you have there is a second-styling D-model. In 1956 the design was modified to improve the truck including the trim band around the cab and the rear corner windows. The Verti-lift cab could be raised manually or by optional the optional electric pump. A total of 832 D-series were produced between 1955 and 1958. Yours seems to have all of the necessary items, the front grill dish and the side Bulldog emblems. Make sure you keep them secure. My gallery has additional photos of my D-42. If you decide not to progress with the project, let me know.
  3. York Corrugated, York, PA. Tractor for between the plant and warehouse.
  4. After thoughtful consideration, The ATCA Board of Directors has decided to cancel the 2020 National Meet at Macungie. Concern for the health and safety of our members combined with government social restrictions left no alternative. Currently, our business office is closed, but our office manager is able to access email and voicemails. Refunds will be made for show preregistrations when normal business resumes. We will post any updates on the ATCA website and on Facebook. ATCA asks all of our friends to follow all health precautions from the CDC and to remain aware of all requirements handed down by federal, state, and local authorities. We ask you to carefully consider if it would be wise to cancel or reschedule your chapter meetings & functions including shows during this period of crowd size restrictions. ATCA will not request or authorize insurance certificates for chapter events pending a rollback of the government imposed social distancing requirements.
  5. He H-67 and similar models were introduced two years prior to the G. The G design was a carry over from the H. I have always liked the H-67 style, good ones are hard to find. I've looked at many over the years that weren't worth hauling home.
  6. 275, 6 speed, runs out about 70. The gravedigger has already started -plucking the ckicken off of it. It is going to be used most of the time but will show up at ATCA shows like the National Meet and Mack Days in Lititz.
  7. I helped the gravedigger exhume this last weekend.
  8. Underdog, otherwise known as Greg Hoffman.
  9. These models were named the Freedom Series models. The main feature of the package was the extended bumper to mudflap warranty that covered nearly everything. Hence, Freedom from repair and maintenance costs. The Statue of Liberty is to represent freedom.
  10. Ed, How about an update on your request?
  11. If you haven't been to the Mack Museum in Allentown, this is a glimpse into what they have to offer. www.macktruckshistoricalmuseum.org
  12. The MH is on loan. It belongs to the Malo brothers in Canada. They saved it from export and loaned it to the Mack Museum. I believe it will be on its way to Canada before long.
  13. The D-series was built between 1955 and 1958. The 1955 and early 1956 models had a squared off grille, no additional trim pieces and no rear corner windows. The second styling added the contour grill with the fancier trim, corner windows as well as other updates to stiffen the cab. There were a total of 832 built. The unique way of accessing the engine was called the Verti-lift system. There was a mast behind the cab, similar to a forklift that contained one cylinder that was raised by a cab jack or an electric pump which was optional. The green one in the photo is mine. It is a 1956 D-42 that was purchased new for Sinclair in Tulsa, OK.
  14. I think I will put a Flex body on my 2005 Explorer frame when the body finally goes. It would be what should have been done with the Flex.
