Took me a minute to get the jist of your comment! (I'm old) I personally refuse to own a smart phone I have no need for 300 "friends" I've never met! I realize they are fascinating I also realize that the many members who are contractors have to have one (their customers expect it) but every time some idiot walks into me while talking on one or I'm in a doctor's office and every person waiting is staring at one like a zombie I long for the days when I ran several small businesses with a double entry ledger and a #2 pencil! They've already put the local bookstore out of business, libraries will be next. Ok my rant is over!2 points

Barry I have a suggestion ! There from time to time are posts that get questions asked that have been answered several times ! The latest being idle set with switches! On gray engines ! this question has been asked more than a few times on the forums! I wonder if it would be helpful to make a new category TIPS AND REPAIR TRICKS so guys can post the most common fixes for most commonly asked questions! quite hounestly the seach feature is not that great at picking up on what your searching for! just a thought!1 point

Fan of old trucks of all kinds special place in my heart for old Houghs as 2 of my uncles were manager and service manager at international locally.I worked in the bush most of my life logging , mining and the oil patch have all been my home away from home for many years . Nowadays I’m more of a homebody but have been with present employer since 2000 and yes we still use our mid 80s Mack’s off-road 😀1 point

Rowdy,,I got the Avalanche mixed up with the Aztek! You're right the Aztek is arguably the ugliest vehicle built...Ever! Also as you said, today's youngsters aren't all hopeless! I was heading for the waffle house in McDonough Ga when I realized I turned the wrong way on the ramp! So I made a u turn on the two lane and got stuck in the wet grass on the shoulder, with a 53 ft dry van! Blocked the whole road! I had visions of a 200.00 tow job when a kid about 19 and his girlfriend pull up in a brand new Dodge 1500 4wd he pulls up in front of me and throws a chain on the ground! I said "you're liable to burn up your tranny guy" " nah she'll do it"! He says ...and it did! We both got to the Waffle House and he wouldn't even let me buy them dinner! But who else but a certifiable red neck engineer carries a 20 ft log chain in their brand new pickup?😁1 point

As usual Teamster Grrrl, your points are well taken! While I agree in principle with many of Trumps "promises" most are half campaign rhetoric and the other half monetarily and politically impractical! While I would prefer a utopian world where all immigrants entered America like KSBs wife and many others in a legal manner,we are stuck with many who have been here for years that didn't.we don't have space in our overcrowded jails,or the money to deport the others! So give the ones who have no felonies a pass and have them report to processing centers and get an I'd card that will make them legal to work till they become citizens.Have them report annually until they become citizens with instant deportation the penalty for not reporting on time! Find the money and personnel to deport the criminals! Having said this establish a date for these procedures and deport anyone still here who doesn't comply! I suspect that most of those who are here illegally would be happy to begin life "out of the shadows" and work towards citizenship! After the established date Double the personnel and efforts to deport any new illegals and make all new prospective citizens go thru the previous procedure to become citizens!Yeah, I know it isn't fair, but neither is life! Also find a way to make Mexico help police our borders maybe a head fine on illegals! Or a tax on Mexican companies profits on the products they export here! Bet the companies wouldn't be as easy as we are on their " fellow citizens" if it affected their profits!1 point

On the ignition switch issue on the fire truck, a sometimes fix is spray wd 40 into it will remove moisture and often dissolve residue.Works on big truck trailer plugs and marker lite connections too. Another product good for that application is the electrical cleaner they sell in computer stores.1 point

Hobert 62, Don't forget to remove the visegrips lol True story...I hung a set of aftermarket duals on my welding truck, was on the last hanger and too lazy to get a half inch wrench,so I used a vise grip. Two years later I'm under the truck doing something and there's the vise grip! A little rusty, but still hanging there!1 point

Gudday and hows it going mate dont let a couple of people sour your taste for the forum on a whole we are all fairly good bunch of blokes and you did well sticking up for your self and your family You've done really well so far with your truck hardly any B81's were sold in Australia and if there was one around here it would be worth a fortune Funny thing about these collectors and fruit loops like us you can never win sometimes it seems its ok for some blokes to wheel and deal in old Macks on here and not others dunno but all the carrying on from some wasnt gunna do none of us no favors Best of luck with what ever you end up doing Im sure what ever decision you make will work out all ok in the end Good luck at college we dont have college in Australia and schools and medical are all free as well unless you choose to go private most dont I yack with Tim Maikshilo (hes on the forum) every week or so and all though we both speak the same language there is some big differences between Australia and the US in health care and education he finds it hard to believe its all free over here and always has been at least all of my life all the best mate and dont let these buggers get you down I dont think there is much chance of that seeya Paul Griffiths1 point
