  1. the dust must be lighter out west, doesnt look like 15 years of dust from sitting, maybe they pull it out and rinse it looks like a can of ether under it, maybe they tried to get it starteed and popped a hole thats why its so dark underneath? If it is what they say 3k is fair money.
  2. i took an old fuel cap and drilled a hole and put a tire valve in it, then used it on the trucks after fiter change was quick and easy only use ether as a last resort I have seen engines get addicted to it and only start even on the hottest days with a shot, on an old dd I used rarley except when it seemed to be 40 below if it would not start I would pop the air filter out and heat it with a propane torch for a couple minutes then turn the flame off and let it leak propane in and it would fire up, I was nervous to use ether on the old engine.
  3. ilike the swing away fenders but they are homly looking
  4. great video, sure not a safety video did you see the guy stick his hand in the pin hole and pull it out real quick, I liked the lab coats on the guys working on the planatery assembly
  5. have you checked to make sure that the slack adjusters and s cam are all loose, free and working with grease thats where I would start then look for sticky valves
  6. i am in kc but not ready to put mine on the road just yet, if they come up this way they can look at mine i am home most days
  7. is that why there are so many in that area? I thought it was because of the city. insurance can't be that much diffrent between the two unless you try to register it under 26K, if you do then your are setting yourself up for failure if you get stopped while loaded "If he goes to a tandem his registration in Jersey will be $5,000.00 per year. If he stays with a single axle his registration will be just under $600.00."
  8. if you are going to spend that kind of money why not get a dump trailer or a tandem axle, dont buy something that is to small for the same money you can easily buy a tandem in the same or better shape seems everyone has one for sale this year.
  9. that was nice, but will probably be your fault, same way david alan coe ran a red light and the headline was he was hit by a truck when he ran the light and fmcsa will say it was the truck drivers fault to help implement the new hours of service rule
  10. welcome, since it is running try some fuel system cleaner first, after taking my tanks off and cleaning them out I put about 20 gallons of fuel in and enough fuel additive cleaner to mix 50 gallons and let it run at fast idle and it started cleaning up I figure I would keep adding the strong blend until I run a few hundred gallons through. I use powerservice brand because thats what I grew up with and have used for years, I have tried lucas and seafoam when on sale, years ago also used ATF years ago becuase that was supposed to help to
  11. bio diesel is diffrent than used veggy oil, you can refine the veggy oil and make bio diesel but you dont have to.http://green.autoblog.com/2009/06/11/greenlings-what-is-the-difference-between-biodiesel-and-svo/
  12. if I had an older diesel and a supply of cooking oil I would filter it and mix with diesel cutting it 25% oil and 75% diesel would be a great savings, then I would try diffrent combos I would think if the weather was warm above 35 you could run 75% cooking oil and 25% diesel and have no worrys, just my $.02s
  13. Should have had Jared from uship pick it up, I am sure he would have tried to fit it in his van or that trailer http://www.uship.com/profile/jjncsu2000/
  14. Slpwlker I have no comment on this subject, however I did laugh out load and my daughter looked at me funny
  15. all my kids love the tractor shows too, for some reason this one was my youngest sons favorite at this show, (and that was not my JD B LOL)
  16. wow that looks like a load of BS!!! having them help and learning how to work is one of the best things we can do for our kids
  17. This is my Dad mowing last May on my John Deere 60, and by the way I was 2 in 1970, I have had many JD B's, but like everything else that stuff has slowed, sold my last B in November. Here is a picture of my Dad running the disk in the garden and my youngest after planting potatoes. My Dad Farmed potatoes so it is only right to have help me get mine in the ground when he comes to visit, it also kind of keeps the family farming tradition alive just noticed to you can see one of my B parts tarctor in the picture of my Dad on the JD 990 with the disk
  18. My last combat tour was with a HET company, we had alot of problems with them the computers could not take the heat and they would run with a crap load of faults and in limp mode as with most things nowadays they make them overly complicated and in combat enviroment if it was a mechanical engine it would have been so much better. During previous combat tours I operated the m911 and other mechanical engine trucks and never had many problems, on the older military trucks m900series 5 tons or the m915/016 and my favorate was a m920 were voltage/battery issues once you got the truck slaved off you knew it would stay running and not leave you stranded on the side of the road.
  19. looks like the tanks on my 59 but yours are shiny I have not got mine polished up like that yet.
  20. what ever happened to that michigan trailer you got with no title? Are you going to use that with the ford 550?
  21. last month I checked on ins for a truck and lowboy trailer at progressive for local less than 500 miles and it was just under $1000 per month nothing down, the truck deal fell through so I am still searching, not for insurance but at truck and trailer. I am right down the road from OOIDA so I may check with them if I can find a truck in my price range.
  22. Yea, thats what I was thinking, about the same as any older truck just better than scrap price, and then go up on how much work it needs. It is also the short hood single headlight with fiberglass tilt hood. Looking at the brochure it must be a MH as it has the detroit and 10 speed with power steering
  23. Not sure if it is MH?, it looks like this http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/brochuredisplay.cgi?manuf=GM&model=GMC&year=
  24. found a 74 GMC tandem axle with rebuilt dd started resto but has some minor rust repair needed on the right side still has tube type tires and still road worthy so i could put some batterys in it and drive it home. The guy said it would run out about 73 pulling a grain trailer, all the interior seems to be there wanted to see if anyone had an idea on fair price range, have not seen any around this area for awhile.
