  6. I checked them out all the tandems were single axles with tags added on, for the shape they were in not running /unknown if motors were stuck I thought he was high price wise when I spoke with him last, seems he came down some. Good luck with the project trucks, keep posting pictures.
  7. it was people pouring gas on lit fires and getting burned, then they would file lawsuits because they were a dumbass and blame the company for fire going into the can, jurys would feel sympatetic and award lots of money, the company (blitz) could no longer afford insurance and the legal fees thats why all the safety features on the can. same crap happened with lawn mowers ever notice that there is a sticker on it the deck that says dont stick your hand in it.
  8. how come you did not get the one that was hooked to the trailer, I had thought that one was in the best shape? The guy said it was the last one that had ever ran in years. Good Luck they were all in rough shape, did you get the motor and parts for the one single axle?
  9. a would say a resistor of some sort BTW you should use something like this for the fuse block, will fit in the dash where the orginal was http://crimpsupply.com/circuit-protection/surface-mount-fuse-blocks/14-position-atc-ato-fuse-panel.html
  10. make sure to make a wiring diagram with color codes
  11. walmart had 5 gal pails of 303 for around $35, HYGARD equivalnt here at Tractor Supply is $42
  12. I think it is 20 with beads rolled in to make it stiff, I used 16 without beads and it works just fine, I cut the old floor cross bracing out and re used the stuff that was good then used angle iron to make up the rest look at my pics http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/gallery/member/10018-thomastractorsvc/ On the sand blasting thing I took the gun and pick up from my blast cabnet and added a longer hose, I went to tractor supply and got black diamond coal slag in the 40# or 50# bag and blasted away , was a little slower but did not spend but maybe 75 on media and some time, the sand blaster guy wanted like 2500. I used 60 and 80 grit da sander to strip most of the paint then went over it with the baster, low budget but effective. I would like to buy one of the 50# pressure pots at tractor supply some day.
  13. let me know I found some tires!
  14. Let us celebrate the occasion with wine and sweet words. Plautus http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plautus
  15. I would say it is plumbed in to the air brake line, probably at the brake switch area, I have seen regular controllers on air brake systems with the electric that ties into the brake light switch that signals the box to activate and they seemed to work fine, like Doug said most now work of a pendulaum set up, just make sure that it is a quality controller most will be around $120
  16. what did you find out? they were pluged off?
  17. anyword on tires locally? I have been looking around here only thing I can find is mostly tubeless, do you have enough tubless rims?
  18. Quit busting balls, the show is not geared towards us diehard trucking fans. Rob is doing what we all should be doing, and that is getting new people interested in classic trucks and the trucking industry, how else can you do that nowadays without being a little over the top, my sons and daughter like it and it has got them interested in trucks and going to events. Hell even my mom in law has watched and enjoyed it. I am also sure that restoring the EK Mack is costing a lot of money and it will be well worth it seeing it an an event, its obviously not the statute of Liberty but he was an Icon and legend. Who else has done anything that is even comparable? I have seen Joey Chitwood events and although cool does not compare.
  19. The Michelin Man says standard on highway tire 11R24.5 is 43.3 inches tall and 11R22.5 is 41.3 inches tall regional highway tire is 11R24.5 is 43.8 inches tall and 11R22.5 is 41.6 inches tall on and off road tire is 11R24.5 is 44.4 inches tall and 11R22.5 is 42.2 inches tall.
  20. Mike on the 77 does it have tube or tubless? I wanted to do some looking around here at the truckstops for some maypops, how many does it need and size?
  21. maybe, I would think unlikly through but it should be checked to see if it shorted, check the battery cables and end connections and the starter connections, if hitting it made a diffrence and you said the jumper cables provided power it is being lost somewhere the clicking I think is a circuit breaker, If it was me I would check all electrical connections and clean them for corrision and add some dielectric grease to keep out the moisture and corriosion. BTW I think the alternator is probably good but since they are working in the front have them test it then you know for sure.
  22. Looks like the origainal acution was eneded early, when I looked this morning the BX was relisted cool looking truck and I think it would be a nice one to restore
