  1. Mike any info or pics of the 50 GMC pickup?
  2. Good video, I thought you would have seen some Amish Mafia while out on the back roads
  3. that was also at 1800 RPM, if you run harder would probably get up to 60-63
  4. I figured it at 56 to 58 with a 5th gear at .65 and 11.00R22 slow and steady
  5. maybe when you did the valve adjust it was not adjusted right or came out of spec
  6. I wonder how that works out on down shifting on the curves, one stick is already almost touching the wheel, wonder what DOT would say if he wrecked, ditto on sitting on the floor
  7. yes, was looking through the paper today and came across them.
  8. My thoughts are like the others motor and trans mounts, then check the balancer. Pop the hood check the mounts than start it up and set the throttle to the vibration RPM and look at them, you may be able to see the broken mount if they look ok, check the balancer at both idle and at RPM to see if you can see any delection if you can mark the balancer with chalk or paint and use a flashing light it is easer to see the movement or a maglight at angle.
  9. This what you will look like once you need glasses so be careful
  10. mike did you ever look at the two superliners listed in the truckpaper located at Ricks in IN?
  11. Merry Christmas Vinny , great pics. I hope you have a good time at your Dads, maybe Santa will bring you some U Model parts
  12. good job on getting her going, now to the easy stuff
  13. by the looks of the bad boy pole I hope i am on the good list too
  14. glad to hear that, I am the same way you are, once I get started and find something I have to fix everything I find wrong, when I dont it usually breaks the firsts chance it gets and I end up doubleing my work effort.
  15. did you get everything taken care of, or did they find other things wrong?
  16. long way to bring a truck to resell, the passenger door has a crease and looks like it has rust under the paint or poor repair, also looks like it is missing something from the air intake tube, a plug or sensor
  17. nice truck! Are you going to be selling your B or starting a collection? Thats two now right? :SMOKIE-LFT:
  18. Bob, I had a hard time priming it so I went to the scrap yard looking for parts, as I was looking in the ditch outside the scrap yard I saw a guy pull up and going to pitch a new Briggs & Stratton engine that the scrappers wouldn't accept, so the guy told me I could hook it to a rope and use it as a boat anchor, but I figured I could use the throw away carb off it to put on my Mack. So I removed the injectors and broke some wooden dowels off in the holes, I drilled, recessed and tapped 6 holes in the side of the heads, I then drilled a 1.5inch hole and taped a couple of 1/4" holes in the intake manifold and bolted the carb on and hooked up the throttle linkage to the hand throttle, the knob broke off so I took the cable off my Rototiller. I drained out all the diesel and hooked up a 1 quart tank on the fire wall. I took the coils off the rototiller, that engine and I found, and one on a shelf from a Kawasaki JD engine, I then drilled the ballancer and jb weled in some magnets, I soldered some old copper wire core spark plug wires together and then set the wires to match the ballancer. I dumped some gas in and hit the key and she fired right up, thats why you dont see any smoke until the video hits 22 second mark when my wife sprayed some carb cleaner in it.
  19. Came across a 83 R686ST needs torque rod bushings and king pins, lost of TLC and the double frame has cracks just on top of the rail in a few places that I found under the mounting wood no where near what I had found in the previous Mack I looked at that had a crack in front of the fifth wheel. Anyone have a ball park dollar amount on the bushings and the king pins, so I can make this guy an offer I have read several threads where folks have done them at home, thats what I will most likely do. If I get it I would also like to get a sleeper to put back on it if anyone might have one of those to.
  20. thanks vinny hopefull this weekend I can get some more videos posted
  21. I got it started fired right up after I put the new oil pressure line on, so I took her for a spin, actually a couple, maybe she knew that if she started running with a leaking hose it wouldn't have been good for her, at least thats what I am thinking The vid clip at the bottom is her running, not sure how to load movies. 025.MPG
  22. just got back from the hose maker, hopefully I can get the truck started.
