  1. I think the DM at the bottom is Australian, the other DM is Air Force, the Air Force has always had unique militarized commercial speciality trucks, the F and CI were probably proto types used for demonstrations for capabilities, I spent more than 20 + years in Army Transportation and the only trucks that I seen other proto type or displays were Oshkosh, AM Generals types and Freightliners. When I first joined I had seen a couple IH Transtars in Germany but they were being or had been replaced by the CCC/AM Generals M915s. After DS/DS I operated some leased non military Macks in Kuwait, in the early 90s after Desert Storm we operated them out of Doha as heavy equipment transports, also had some in the Sinai. There were a bunch of Petes/Kenworths that was leased and operated by some National Guard unit during DS/DS as line haul, it was funny to see a big red Kenworth with 425 cat, chrome, walk in sleeper hauling a 20 foot container in a 10-15 truck convoy and I was operating a M931 5ton tractor with 40ft tri axle and 2 20 ft containers, working the shit of the little 250 Cummings
  2. 45 looks and no one has two cents for me??
  3. check the governer and filter start there first
  4. Alright I am getting frustrated, was able to get the starter on today got everything hooked up, spun over great, dumped 10 more gallons of fuel in the tank that I picked up. Cracked open the injectors and started pumping, can only get fuel to three injector lines, so I put to half throttle and cranked still dry, went back to the fuel filter and checked that it was full, cracked the line at the pump, fuel there so I went back to cranking still only three lines get fuel. I was getting pissed and looked down and seen about a cup of oil on the shop floor and on the leaf springs. I found that the oil pressure gage steel braided line is leaking where I put a ziptie for the ignition starter wire. So I undid the line and ened up cutting it in two so I could get it from under the dash so in the morning I will have to pick up something to replace it. Is the oil leak unrelated to the injector pump, I thought I had read some where that the truck wont start with out min oil pressure?
  5. its been over a week and no pics??? someone calling BS on this truck yet??? not me I am just asking the question.
  6. Congrats, nice truck post some more pictures
  7. take it to carmax and get a 7 day quote. A take off pick up bed is 1k or less depending who you get it from, then sell the dump body, you would be ahead. Don't forget the money needed to bring back one of them back from Texas and hope you don't have problems since they are not going to be under warranty
  8. Last Tuesday night after class, I stopped by MHC KW in KC, the starter is on the monthly specials flyer, new Delco $254 no core plus tax. ended up about $275, have not put it on yet my wife still has me working in the basement.
  9. Looks to be in a little better shape than this one and for a $1000 you get a better dump box and a Diesel http://stlouis.craigslist.org/cto/3458530906.html
  10. Congratulations on the award and cementing your GuRu status, with all the Mack enlightenment it wont be long before someone will make a pilgrimage to listen to your wisdom, or just post a question to BMT
  11. sounds like you need to add a bunkbed to the office! I am looking for something like you got, nothing like that out here in the Missouri, they all seem to be back in the North East. I was born and rasied in northern Maine, but my wife thought when I retired from the military she rather not live in the willywacks and fight off the blackflies and moose. If we had moved back East I probably would have had a couple dozen of them already. ((This what my wife did when I brought home the B-61))
  12. Mike The ad says they will deliver, tell them bring it to your place with the correct paper work and you will give them a little extra for the fuel and drop them at the airport or bus depot
  13. Paul Have you done any restoration to the one from GA?
  14. wish there were more pictures and a couple of Mack "signs" on the back.
  15. Mark, you let that corn binder pass you on the outside???
  16. Does the hub get as hot or does it get hotter then the drum? If the hub is geting hotter than the drum readjust the bearings. I would pull that drum and check that the brakes and s-cam go back to a neutral postion when bakes are released and they dont hang somewhere. I would recheck the drum and for thickness or out of round and same with the shoes. If thats the only hub/drum that is causeing problems it is more than likely the cause, the second would be the making sure that air evacs from the brake chamber the same as the others, this delay could cause the extended drag.
  17. if it not fuel or antifreeze, they put something in it, maybe they have bulk oil and its missed marked???
  18. Congrats and best of luck!!!!!!
  19. no, your truck is probably then a single air system, if you read the thread I wrote about adding spring brakes to my b61 you will see the drawings for a single air system. If you do want to add them for parking on one axle you just add the air line, since yours is a single air system http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/topic/24092-b61t-upgrade-to-springbrakes/
  20. heres a trouble shoot sheets, just determine if your truck has a secondary system, if its a single system it is a little different, I am up for ASE re certs in January and this what I will probably use as my study guides. tractor_air_brake_troubleshooting_guide.pdf Bendix Air Brake Handbook.pdf
  21. if you disconnect the air supply at the tractor / trailer valve at the back of the cab check each side as I previously stated all you have to do is disconnect the line going for the emg side charge the system like you normally would, you should have a constant rush of air, you can do the service side the same but use the johnny bar you need to locate the valve that you are not getting air to than figure out if it is a line issue or valve issue
  22. If you have air to the dash valve, it is probably that valve, is it new or used? you can disassemble and clean and repalce the o ring
  23. when the the trailer brakes are charged at the dash valve does air gush out of the emergancy side? if not unhook the emg side on the deck to see if you get air there/ when you replaced the valve is it possible the lines got crossed do the same with the service side using the johnny bar.
