looks awesome -
NLA is subjective. I called Mack the other day to see about a wheel part they ran the part number that was on it, Mack said it crossed to a newer number because the original was NLA, the new number was available as a replacement it would be a different but similar part. I called BWP gave them the original Mack part number it crossed exactly to one of there parts and is readily available so I crossed that to Euclid which was a direct part cross to the Mack part number and called Mack back and gave them the Euclid number that they had available. I just wish BWP-NSI would sell to individuals again, it would save so much aggravation when it comes to these situations. My regular parts guy that orders directly from PAI, BWP and a couple other places for me was on vacation.

Air-ride cab question
thomastractorsvc replied to sodly's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Both of mine are solid mount cabs one on newway second on 44 camelback both with air ride seats. I guess since I don't own a Cadillac can't compare but they seem to ride okay. The camelback is definitely no issues with a trailer and rides nice when bobtail can be a little rough ride on a few of the old concrete roads on asphalt smooth. The other truck rides good loaded or empty. Ride is better than my old B -
Nice looking truck, now if I only had a dump trailer.

Mad Max R Model
thomastractorsvc replied to heavyhauler's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I noticed that too, the truck on the right sits up about 8 or 10 inches higher than the one on the left. Same with my Superliners 22.5 and 24.5 and same with the A54s 24 and 20 wheels -
Looking for a price to bring a truck to Kansas City from around Oxnard supposed to run weight is around 20k.

Just worked on a 1998 Mack Triaxle Friday. It has been working on a Interstate job hauling everything from base to batch. As the driver was pulling into the PUG mill a few days ago to load cement treated base the operator opened the chute early and put some on the hood windshield and roof, cracking the grill and breaking off one end of the dual horns. In typical I don't own the truck fashion the driver used a shovel to clean it off and did not find a hose so you can just imagine what it looks like. Anyways on Friday the truck pulls out of the mill with a load of whatever they were hauling and at a red light down the street getting onto the on ramp a DOT pulled up in the straight lane and while they were waiting for the light to change, the driver said the passenger in the DOT pickup looked at the cab and rolled his window down and told him to pull over. Why because the truck looked like Hell and of course they found a leaking power steering hose (return) just wet with dust on it no drips, a supposed leaking air line on the lift axle turned out it is the exhaust that is vented from the cab to outside, cracked windshield on passenger side about 1 inch long in the corner near the center support, hose rubbing and unserviceable because the driver used some duct tape on a split rubber hose that was zip tied on to prevent chafing, horn inop although it still blows and so does the city horn but the driver did not push it, and of course an over weight because the (lift axle leaks air) as he was lifting it to make the 90 degree turn onto the highway as it is not steerable and he was told to always lift it for sharp turns. There were a couple other things I fixed like I resecured the grille and resecured some of the other hoses. Point is-- If the truck looks like this Not a DOT Magnet If truck looks like this be prepared to get stopped by every DOT guy you pass. Eventually you will get to know all the DOT Officers and they will learn your truck and they may realize that it is mechanically sound. But anyone who has ever been stopped by the DOT can attest if they want to find something they can. Did you know that your washer bottle must have some washer fluid and shoot solution onto the windshield? Well that's the nitpicky thing a few DOT guys are looking at here when they can't find anything else, oh and they are looking for DOT approved on brass fittings on air lines- i.e. the brass connector that you draw air off to air up your tires that is hooked into the air tank.

Mike, You are staying Strong! and that is because that is who you are. Think about this- yesterday you had naked wimmins running around your place, the sun shined down while it rained all around, and you got three new Macks yesterday. I know you made at least two people extremely happy that I know of (my wife and the new Chevy owner) (and Robert keeps giggling about the bent over one). You may have a lot going on but Mikey is Ok you and that truck can get fixed. As always if you need something let me know, and I am sure that goes for just about everyone that knows you!

Latest pickup
thomastractorsvc replied to jackb61sx's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I would just buy two 17.5 tubeless for spares and as you go through tires replace them. The rims are like $75 from the tire store here locally and unless someone gave you some if you end up buying you would probably spend that much anyways -
