  5. I thought about welding up my roof vent on mine after I forked over $100 for the shorty center light but too late the cab roof was painted as slow as my painter is at least he could have helped me out on that. Looking good looks like wont be long and yours will be blowing smoke down the road.
  6. Looks well taken care of. It is under cover, newer paint and the original style seat not torn up. See if he can send you a picture of both side of the engine and the engine spec/data plate
  7. I am always amazed at the art work and ornate designs of the early trucks. The Market Basket truck looks like it would be a pain to get in and out of all day making deliveries.
  8. PAI will not sell to individuals so you will have to find a parts store that distributes for them. The place I go through doesn't search the entire parts catalog, they try to sell other brands or will say they can't get it but if I look it up online and give them the part number they will order it. Since it has to ship from PAI, I typically just have them drop ship to my house. The place I go through charges no more than $12 for shipping and I have paid as little as $6 depending on how much I had purchused. A person could also wait for the normal shipment but that is usually over a week or so. The quality I think is better than some Mack OEM an example is I bought hood latches, the Mack latches were in a box saying Mack OEM and made in China they were squared and rough stamped, the PAI were made in America and had rounded corners and looked and felt better and better finish. The local Mack dealer buys from PAI also. I bought some wheel studs half were stamped PAI in a Mack sealed plastic bag. I needed them they were like $10 each, I bought some more later on using my other parts source and they were like $3 each same ones.
  9. That was not the case with one of mine I have one that was a replacement some time between 1978 and 2014 and was the kit weld together style looked liked hammered $hit so I was going to replace it about $150 more than the bushings so while it was out I cleaned it up and doesn't look so bad now
  10. Did you end up taking the hood off or squeeze in there?
  11. Being an RD 688 I would think it was a steel nose that the hood went missing so they cut a fiberglass one to fit
  12. I had my super liners re-bushed, they looked good but in the low side it wanted to hop and buck when you accelerated bobtail so I put the pry bar to them and they were a little loose, so I figured now is the time to do it before I painted the frame. I paid around $350 to have new polys ones installed at Inland Truck. The guy said when they pressed them out one of them was all rotted out in the middle.
  13. This looks like odd then I saw what they did, one way to put a hood on it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1986-Mack-RD688S-/331735831248?forcerrptr=true&hash=item4d3cff12d0:g:jJMAAOSwJcZWdBGw&item=331735831248
  14. That looks like one you should have flown out and drove home!
  15. I have an extra , when I get my parts from the painter I will take a picture so you can see if it will match your lights
  16. Good luck, Mack has them for like $65 each I found some similar style grote NOS on ebay and got the for $16 each still in the bag. If you have the torpedo style cab lights the center on is only about 1/3 the length of the others. I bought a new set (5) of lights for $100 but spent $106 for the center light. In the future I think I will just patch the vent hole and paint it since don't ever open it anyways and not buy the short light.
  17. I just had the turbo replaced in my 2006 Duramax 3500 4x4 under warranty and now get 2 plus mpg, other than fuel mileage increase no difference in power. The truck had no driveability issues it would randomly get an odd code p003a that would self reset after 4 or 5 starts. Got it right from the get go when I bought it new. They said not to worry and everything was fine. This past summer a buddy of mine at the Chevy dealer told me to bring it in every time it had the code so he documented it and Chevy had them run a couple tests and replaced a couple sensors upgrade the ECM than told them to change the turbo. Sure would have been nice to have had that 2 + mpg back since 2006. Based on my mileage per gallon would have saved around 2500 gallons of diesel avg priced since 2006 is probably $2.75, that would have been $6875.00 I could of bought another Mack!
  18. What do you expect when Americas supposed best and brightest at Yale agree to repeal the 1st Amendment. Obama's Dept of Ed and the Progressives agenda is transforming the public schools and colleges and indoctrinating the youth of America into in something else, a Marxist Islamist Brotherhood that is protesting racial and religious disparity. According to the Washington Post pew Research polls, American college students are likely to endorse some censorship at rates greater than countries that have no 1st Amendment or its equivalent. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2015/11/21/why-protesters-on-college-campuses-are-battling-free-speech-in-1-graph/ BTW a local talk radio host went to KU and did the same thing for 1 hour he had 50 signatures so it is not just someone being duped it is the mentality of the youth. http://www.kmbz.com/pages/21185255.php
  19. Well that is good news considering what it did in its former life. So does everything work the way it should? It was priced right on CL but I think a lot of folks like myself figured it had a lot of corrosion issues, knowing it had a plow hooked on her.
  20. Why would a "Public" school have the students write Arabic and practice calligraphy if they did not know what it said? Not long ago the 10 Commandments had to be removed from schools why would this be any different? It is hard not to believe that this was not part of another agenda. Kscarbel why don't you start a thread on the UPS flights into PA or is it a Hoax, if find it odd the UPS denys any flights but Business _ UPS To Modify Five Jets For Passenger Flights _ Seattle Times Newspaper.pdf (Itried to add the link but it did not work so I converted it to a pdf) https://www.pressroom.ups.com/pressroom/ContentDetailsViewer.page?ConceptType=PressReleases&id=1442246348907-860
  21. Congratulations on the new beast. How bad is it rust wise and the double or triple frame we talked about here but only speculated as to how much rust was in it since it was pushing snow.
