I have a couple baits in peanut butter jars with a hole drilled in the end so I can see how much is gone located by the doors. Half way down the shop along the perimeter I put out several sticky traps also good for spiders and bugs.. I keep the bates and sticky traps are year. A few weeks ago when it started turning cold I put out a couple spring traps with peanut butter and got one but nothing as of late. The biggest thing is staying vigilant with the traps. In the past I have placed traps on the floor boards but I would rather catch them before they get in because you never know how long they were in the truck before they get caught.

But that goes by manufactures model year so a 2000 model year built in 1999 still needs it. So if someone has a 1999/2000 year model that is tiled they better get the vin checked

While you are recovering buy you something like this tool. You will be so happy that you did, it is used to install the lock strip. http://www.autobodytoolmart.com/windshield-locking-strip-tool-p-12952.aspx?gclid=Cj0KEQiAqK-zBRC2zaXc8MOiwfIBEiQAXPHrXnUJ8DyIAe4hBNyVSknZ5Ax-3Y_3_AqTSpK_TB6PmWsaAq8b8P8HAQ -

Its nice to walk into TCS, HD or Airgas or the Autoparts store and find the consumables on the shelf, cant say that with Eastwood. I have looked at and it is very similar to the HF and Northern Tool Chinese brands with plastic feed parts and feed.

I have a Hobart 140 handler made in the USA owned by the same folks that own Miller so parts interchange. Great Warranty will do Flux core or gas 120v works great bought it in 2005. I have welded a lot with it and used it to put the floor in my Mack B61 (16 gauge mild steel and have one a lot of nice repairs with 18,20 and 22 gauge with the machine). I have done a lot of welding with it both flux core and with shielding gas. I use straight CO2 for 2 reasons A) if the cart was around the corner, most people would never know what the tank was CO2 or Argon mix << in my opinion and other professional welders that I know most still use CO2 for general welding>> cost and seems to last forever or my gauge is broke???

Pretty neat video. If you can keep it do it, remember it don't eat and poop so it is easy to take of.

Vin Decode: Mack R
thomastractorsvc replied to cf685f's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
The VIN number is before they changed to a 17 digit in I think around 82ish. my R was a 1980 R686ST66669 ordered in 12/12/1979 and final assembly build sheet signed 5/20/1980. So based off the VIN/SN I would guess 1977 to 78. Take the number to the Mack dealer they should be able to look it up and tell you right away or send it to the Mack Museum and wait awhile. -
Here is one more than you need but priced right https://southbend.craigslist.org/hvo/5341901572.html

Maybe soak it in some warm water to get it a little more pliable I think that is the problem the seal is stiff -
New Guy here Restoring and 1989 RW753
thomastractorsvc replied to Jake86's topic in Introduction Forum
In my care full examination of the subject matter of which way the mirrors go I have diligently poured over factory photos and combed through various factory brochures of Mack trucks. Conclusion based on this research: Mack Dogs Face in It appears that the picture above that Mr. J Hancock originally posted is an anomaly and whomever was responsible for putting the mirrors on that one particular truck for the photo shoot must have been fired for his or her incompetence. Shown below is a small sampling of the factory brochures used in the research, you easily note in the photos all Mack Dogs face in. It is also fair to note on this subject that there was a surprising amount of stainless steel flat and stainless steel and black painted bubble faced mirrors shown on various models of trucks and I even saw a stainless steel lighted mirror. Any disclaimer issued by me is subject to change without notice. Every statement in this post is possibly true and represents the official view of the voices in my head.- 168 replies

Leaking Roof Vent
thomastractorsvc replied to Outbehindthebarn's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
One person can do it. Not to sound funny but if you bought a new vent are they the same size? With a little soapy water should just go back in -

FOR SALE 1979 Mack R-Model lowboy tractor, 126,758 miles
thomastractorsvc replied to jimmymack61b's topic in Trucks for Sale
Nice inside, looks like the paint would buff out to a decent shine saving on a repaint for a little bit. If it was a just a lowboy truck with 127K, why so much work done to it i.e clutch, bearings, pto pump and seats?? I now some stuff wears out from sitting like hoses and seals but never heard of a bearing or clutch falling a part from sitting inside with occasional use -
