  7. Local news just said the Ford plant in KC will hire 900 more people to support the production of the aluminum F150. http://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/news/2015/02/03/ford-will-add-900-jobs-at-kansas-city-assembly.html
  8. It looks like both of the explosions were unrelated to defects in the fuel system but human error (unsecured fork lift) and (dumpster fire). In my opinion the CNG vehicles are a safe system if maintained and inspected. To me safety-wise they are no different than a propane set up which have been around for over 60 years on everything from John Deere tractors to Swans ice cream food trucks. I don't debate the longevity of a CNG or propane engine but based off fuel cost alone of diesel vs NG, the added cost of early wear out and some performance loss out weighs fuel consumption. If oil prices remain low for an extended period of time there will be less of them if oil goes back up there will be more of them. Smart business decisions will dictate saving money and making profits.
  9. Welcome Research the BMT wiki tabs, lots of great stuff located there including diagrams, pictures and brochures. For sure it is enough info to get you to ask questions here or you can google it to build your knowledge.
  10. And who says the British always drive on the wrong side?
  11. Just the seals need to be changed make sure that if you use oil you get the oil seals, if grease either seal works, I pack all the bearings with grease and then add oil and run the truck/trailer for a few miles and then check and top off. Works great, especially on rears with draining and flushing of diffs, obviously you cant check at the hub but you know with packed bearings they will be okay until the oil can migrate to the ends of the axle.
  12. I dont think a F150, F250 or a F350 or a F450 is a medium truck from a practical standpoint, the F series truck cabs are already large and offer plenty of room. I do agree that once seat suspension change, additional gauges and switches ect.. are installed a new cab needs to be developed with more head room. The the GM medium duty's cabs from the mid 90s on are the worst. You bump your head just getting into the stupid thing.
  13. Have it posted to CL in KC area if anyone is interested. http://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/4872904607.html Can only drive one at a time and right now I have four at the house. If anyone is interested in the the 1980 I would part with that instead of the B61 make an offer.

  20. My neighbor told me a story about a guy at his old work that used a torpedo heater to warm up the radiator on a loader and melted the AC condenser and some of the fins of the radiator had it sitting on the counter balance weights pushed up against the grill. When he was asked why he did that he stated that he saw the mechanic use it under the truck to help with starting so since the loader did not have under the engine access had a hydro and fuel tanks with skid plate he thought heating through the radiator would be ok but the only place to set it so it did not fall off was up tight. Up in Northern Maine when I was a kid used to have hoses plumbed into the pick up and hoses on machine and would be able to circulate coolant through the skidder, loader or tractor and had welding cable for jumper cables if needed about 15 minutes on the hoses and the equipment usually started, used to have the old card board grill bra!
