  1. do you have any better pictures that can be seen without a microscope? How about some pictures of the rust and cab? It is in my price range and not to far but far away enough I want to see pictures before I drive for 3 hours. Thanks
  2. Not sure why the peanut butter isn't working so my plan B is a pie plate with old school antifreeze in it that sweet smell and taste should get them. In Iraq we were having problems with rat/mice around our sleeping areas (Soldiers were not keeping food put up) the traps were getting a couple but not enough, one soldier was eating sardines one night or something like that and fell asleep and had got bitten on his fingers, any way I had the Motorpool put out some drip pans with antifreeze in them and between that and the soldier getting bit it solved both problems.
  3. Nice find where they hiding Iowa? Looks like that rollback is working out nice.
  4. I think I need to move back East!
  5. Yes 1954 JD 60, bought it for $125 from a scrap guy when I went and bought a 2 bottom ford plow for (at the time) huge garden. He saw my name on the truck and said I got something you might be interested in, we walked out back behind a pile of bushes and scrap and it was sitting there, I asked how much and he said $125 and since I don't often get confronted with a once in a life time deals, I blurted out through my Cheshire Cat grin I will take that to.
  6. Thanks for the pictures, turn out was way better than the show I went to. Gotta Love that Antique Truck turn out
  7. very depleted added some more numbers to the spreadsheet today so far spent almost twice what I paid for it and am only about half way done my budget lets me put a little more in it but when it tips the scale the other way may need to find a new home before I am upside down. It is easy to write of your labor but hard to give away your money
  8. I bought this one because of the bunk could not find a Mack with one, the bunk I was told was a 36" I did not think to put a tape to it as a 36" would be just barley enough, well low and behold it is a 28" not near enough room to put seats in.
  9. No thanks maybe next time, sure would like to but I have been neglecting my other baby's so I plan on spending some time with them! I switched insurance to Haggerty so I had to send in some pictures, you can see the seats in one of them. Since I am posting Mack here check this one out even has my name on the door already Frame is cracked and engine is bad but that cab would look good on my F model
  10. Here is a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCSxKF5KMeA
  11. Changed out the hoses and belts, the alternator mount was also broken so fixed that, then moved onto the cab had to re do the floor and re hang the doors as they were swapped with the original and held on by a couple self tapping screws after fixing that was surprised that they had not fallen off as the doors did not latch right and would fall open. Was cool to see the trucks SN# when I pulled out the interior. I am waiting on putting in seats until I can find a larger sleeper. So for now it is about all that I can do, except front axel rebuild new studs and bearings and seals, forgot on the rear did brakes and pinion seals and slack adjusters. So far staying a little below budget because of being able to rebuild some things, stumbling on some decent used tires and some take out air ride seats. I am kind of glad, as all the things that I have found and had to redo that was not in the budget. The budget on the sleeper is what is going to get me unless I hold out until I can get an almost free one. The sleeper is going to be converted into seating for my kids, so we can all go truck shows in one vehicle. The picture of the tire has a bulge on it at the bottom
  12. Of course had to get the air all redone to figure out that I had this problem the governor bolts to the air compressor had cracked it at the flange so had to get that resolved, luckily it was only the flange and where the air line was machined into the head as this would have been a $700+ fix since the block could not be used as a core. I will have to get a new picture as the finished product looks good, almost can not tell it was repaired.
  13. Some after pictures, couple cross members were cracked so they needed to come out and get welded.
  14. Well its been awhile since I have posted or contributed anything substantial although I have been reading with interest most of the post daily. I have been working on the 1970 KW and trying to get it some what road ready but it seemed at every turn I was finding something else wrong with her. Mostly because it was parked for over 10 years and because it was used for farm use parked for a reason. I think that it was easier for them to get a different truck than spend the time and fix this one when the bailing wire and bubble gum fixes finally put her down. Any how here is where I am at---Frame cleaned and painted, all new suspension and a few brackets, hoses air lines etc... Some Before
  15. Thanks for sharing the pictures
  16. Yes nail on the head, tires alone are at least $3500 or more and will need to switch to 22.5 to keep that cost down. Probably no rust being in Colorado but not running cuts the price in half less tires is $3950 that's about right for this set up if they showed pictures of the engine and the frame is ok.
  17. Thanks for sharing the pictures, looks like it was great show
  18. Or buy new ones-they are only about $15 http://www.truckspring.com/products/Slack-Adjuster-16-inch-37-Spline-6-inch-Span__GS6020013715.aspx?gclid=CjwKEAjwkf-gBRCd-b2m2aOo0EQSJABMeQDk-tvnAF8-NNjhcrpYyRrjOIudHur7uYXvLBEUwXyFXBoCXujw_wcB
  19. Take some pictures of the brake set up so we can see what type of slack adjusters you have and find out if they are all the same. If they are manual adjusters there is way to adjust them that is different then automatic/self adjusters. When you adjusted them was the brakes released or set? What position on the truck? Does the axels have the dust cover backing plate protecting the shoes? can you see the shoes or wetness in the drum? When you replaced the brake shoes how did you determine the drums were still good? Was the drum cleaned of the old oil from the leaking seal? The cost of brakes and drums is not much more than it would cost for your car, typically if you replace the shoes most replace the drums too because of heat checking and possible out of round and grooves and such and they are cheap. Was the hardware kit replaced with the shoes? Is the S-cam free and turn easily when you had the drums off? Are they greased?
  20. For my R & B I used the same stuff check this out it is all the same stuff don't overpay http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/topic/32969-door-glass-felts/?p=209416
  21. Try using Chrome or Firefox both free browsers and more stable probably an update issue with ie
  22. There are more than you think out there Welcome and more pictures
  23. I bid at $2.01 That's is a cheap shot so I bid $3.00, if it had sleeper I would be on it but saving for that elusive Mack with a sleeper. I found one now I just need to convince the owner to part with it for my price
