  1. This is poor advice you do not want to use a non detergent motor oil as a break in oil or for use in any engine except those without filters such as a mower, and even then with todays oil technology I don't recommend it or use it in mine or my customers engines. With todays oil technology using a non detergent oil is like going back to using animal fat to grease a wooden axle. If you decide to rebuild make sure that the entire intake system is cleaned and dried of the oil and dirt, use a quality oil and a break in additive, use pre-lube where you can and try if you have the capability's to pressurize the oil system before fire up. Heat is required for efficiency and break in, but must be closely monitored, blocking the radiator making the engine run hot is poor advice also. Low and steady rpm increases and varying speed is essential for proper engine brake in, keeping the engine between 180 to 200 is great, the initial run up should be under no load. Once it has ran at varying RPMs, with no oil pressure issues or heating problems, typically that can be up to an hour, than you can operate under a light load, after that I recommend an oil change and look at the filter and drain pan for problems, if everything looks good like it should, refill with favorite quality oil ( I like Rotella and Dello) and all should be good, after rebuilds I like to change the oil at a couple frequent intervals before with an oil sample. Don't forget during break in to recheck your specs and torques.
  2. Early last winter found another B61(1957) that was factory tandem that was a contour cab, in real rough shape. I guess all the "skinny" driver trucks made it to the Midwest. BTW I did not borrow Superdogs camera to take the pictures
  3. Best wishes for your family. I am proud to be member of such a great community.
  4. I would think Truck Shows will be around for a long time, the folks on here and the Local ATHS chapter folks are great about promoting the hobby, here in my area even the Independence, Missouri parks and recreation get with local businesses and sponsor a Saturday touch a truck, in my area I think its going to be around for awhile. BTW the best truck there besides mine was the blue bell ice cream truck, the gave free ice cream out to everyone! There was NG trucks, local fire, concrete mixers, dumps, Bob cat was there with there landol lowboy and some equipment, couple different tow company's probably 20 different business represented neat show really surprised at the great turn out. They even flew in a police rescue/patrol copter. All you could hear was horns blasting and kids laughing! I googled the link http://www.ci.independence.mo.us/fire/story.aspx?id=3511
  5. actually an impact will break them loose with or without soaking them in your favorite "spirits", if you want to break them, use hand tools and a cheater extension. 99% of the time a 3/4" impact or a powerhouse 1/2" impact will pull the lug nut off or lug nut and stud.
  6. maybe it is because it was rebuilt at the freightliner shop??
  7. Saw this on ebay, two for one, if I was 1000 miles closer might have bid on them. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Other-Makes-Mack-black-Mack-trucks-B61-/271395112316?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3f3068c57c&item=271395112316&pt=US_Cars_Trucks
  8. I thought it was from down under being upside down and called a southern truck
  9. The guy has three or four of them in various states of scrap disrepair, he had one that was somewhat decent and supposedly yard drove, I think it was blue. He has been trying to sell them since before I got mine couple three years ago, the price has come down a few hundred but not enough for anyone to buy once they see them in person. 10. Looks like the dump truck company is going to get a claim, and then they will wonder why the insurance is so high.
  11. where is the cl link?
  12. really clean looking truck
  13. I was checking this out but really can't afford it, I told the owner that I would post it on here. The truck came from NJ and he is the third owner. Original owner Victor Otiallo & Sons Contractors of Paterson New jersey, Second Owner John T Raia of New Jersey. Give him a call real nice guy. His name is Hank, phone 903-780-1835 5/22/06 a new Rock T-1 bed, not more than 15 loads on the body, all sand-loam, Seats good except a small tear, all gauges are there, dash very straight, drivers vent window frame need replaced, has glass, engine removed from truck and gone thru by previous owner several years ago very little time on engine. Has power steering, fenders new at this time also, very little rust if any, new battery boxes, tool box and hyd tank. Will need the dump cylinder repacked as he said it is leaking. 14. I like Justified, I think this is season 5 been watching from the beginning. Deadwood was on HBO or Showtime, it was like three seasons, I watched that show from about the beginning too. I watched gone in 60 seconds again, around Christmas and seen he was in that movie too. I liked the movie Hitman, he was the lead star in that. If you like those shows you probably miss the FX cop drama The Shield.
  15. Nice video, good shots of the truck, did you make enough to get some more bling for it?
  16. Mike I think the combo would look good, I think it would tie in with the rest of the trucks shiny parts with out being overwhelming and stick out
  17. Welcome, I am right down the road in Oak Grove.
  18. Glad you got it fixed. Sorry the advice cost you some for the water pump, but if it was not circulating typically that would be the water pump, I am always leery about pulling a head off until everything else checks out, as you said there was no contamination, and it was not building pressure and blowing off.
  19. Gee wiz Mike, Throw me a bone or something Good save!
  20. are they going to flip it? see a lot of those trucks around here but they don't fix them just sell for a few thousand more than what they sold at auction for typically listing them the same day, around here the cabs are decent its the beds that go bad I think they send them north, to bad they don't export them and leave the Macks here.
  21. that was on ebay a few weeks back I thought it sold for about what it is asking for
  22. Found this checking out an ebay search Anyone close to this one, auction fixing to end? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1963-Mack-B-Model-Wrecker-/201021750451?pt=Other_Vehicle_Parts&hash=item2ecdd47cb3&vxp=mtr
