Mack Freedom XXL Please help

Check your air filter and pipe, if it has set awhile maybe something moved in and is restricting air flow. Do you know why it was parked? -

I hope that was a rhetorical question? -
Thanks for the responses, I used gloss black enamel paint but it does not hold up well long term from fade and wear that's why I was wondering about anyone that used a urethane type paint on the tanks and fenders to see if it holds up or not worth the effort. The rust is only in the outer door panel and is repairable, I have been looking for a door as it would be easier since I have to take the door apart because I am going to redo the channel and the inside door latch is not working right. I am planning on using rhino liner on the back of the cab below the window and across the lower 8" of the door and rockers. You can different colors so it should look good and wear well.

Just Wanted to Say Hello from Southern West VA

Welcome and post pictures -
Just finished doing some work on the my 1980 R. Pulled all the rear wheels and got out the spray gun got some action shots too, got everything painted except the rims. Took the quarter fenders off. The white chalky looking stuff is from the rust convertor that I put on a couple days go when I pressure washed and scraped the rear frame. Before painting I brush it/wipe it off according to the directions. I am surprised that it was still on there as I pressure washed the frame again early in the morning after I pulled the tires. I was thinking I should paint the tanks, fenders and the battery box cover with automotive paint anyone got opinions or should I use the chassis paint?

went through this a couple months ago, I bought Gates Green Stripe as they are carried by O'reillys. Truck belts are different width than car/light truck Gates part # 9670, for my B61. I would start there and see which way you need to go, if you have the old belts see if it has a number on it and use the Gates interchange http://www.gatespowerpro.com/Comergent/en/US/adirect/gates?cmd=GRCPartInterchangeSearchFrame&CFID=86847941&CFTOKEN=10467979

if you have the round tanks is there a drain in the center of it? either way drain the fuel and pull the plugs flush it out with a pressure washer and dawn dish soap then set in the sun with plugs out to dry, I have done a couple tanks like this only takes a couple hours to dry then I flush a gallon of fuel through it. If you take it off the truck and take it some where they do the same thing, I seen one place has like heated blower that thy hook up to the inlet and set the tank so it drains to the low plug and after 1/2 hour to 40 minutes the say the tank is ready.

Broke A Valve Spring Yesterday
thomastractorsvc replied to thomastractorsvc's topic in Engine and Transmission
Got my ole girl running this morning, I let her sit and idle while the boys and I cleaned the shop, then we headed off to walmart to pick up cookies as my wife had surgery on Monday and was craven a sweet snack ( and I wanted to take her out for a drive). When I came in to wash up before heading to the store my wife said the truck sounded good, which it really does I guess between the weak/broken valve and the other ones out of adjustment made a noticeable difference. I didn't think it ran that bad before but it sounds a lot better now. I am very happy she is running too. -

Broke A Valve Spring Yesterday
thomastractorsvc replied to thomastractorsvc's topic in Engine and Transmission
Well I ended up making two tools, one did two valves like I seen in the book, the second did one at a time, I replaced only two valve springs, the broken exhaust and intake. I suppose if I had help it would not be such a PITA to do the others but with the hood and fenders on it did not make sense to try and do the others climbing in and out turning the motor it was had to tell if the piston was all the way up on the next cylinder. So decided before I dropped a valve inside the engine I would stop while I was ahead of the game. I did climb back and forth and was able to check the valves most were good a few were out so I did get that done, I got it all put back together. The rear valve cover had the rubber gasket so I cleaned it and used some gasket shellac and got that one good, found a couple of fuel lines that were touching with some flat spots got that taken care with some small rubber hose. The front valve cover I had to use some form a gasket, I use the copper blend on valve covers and have had real good luck with it so I did not get the truck started since it needed to cure. -

Why did you only replace two on the rear slack adjusters when you did the rear axle brakes? If you replaced everything else but those two I would replace them, then everything would be new back there. Have you looked at front bumpers yet? Mine has a painted bumper vs the chrome, if they get wrinkled they don't look so bad. BTW where did you get the wet kit pump from? I am looking for one -
Nice pics and congrats on the upcoming baby.
