  1. Yes it is, check out my thread on spring brake up grade, I have some diagrams and everything in that thread "B61T upgrade to Springbrakes" http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/topic/24092-b61t-upgrade-to-springbrakes/
  2. I was able to get everything I needed. Thanks
  3. I agree check/change the clamps or get budd hubs, should not be to expensive. Here in the KC area I can get cut off axels with may pop buds for $500-$600 all day long and CL sometimes have them for less.
  4. do you guys use the truck for anything else besides burn outs, drag racing and truck pulls? How does it hold up for thoses events was thinking once about a pulling tractor but it was way to expensive.
  5. looks good vin, are you going to get the truck running this weekend?
  6. do they post prices of what the stuff went for?
  7. how much are they and a POC to the Mack dealer
  8. Welcome aboard Seems everyone has given some great advice. Just adding my two cents - since you were a 63S you know about levels of a maintenance, come up with a list of repairs drivers can do with some simple tools; mirrors, lights etc..., start an oil sampling program easy way to save money, make up a sheet of PMCS checks you want the drivers to use to supplement and train the drivers on how to inspect the truck and what to look for, there is also a lot of free safety training stuff online. When I first got my DOT number, I was confused about some DOT stuff and what they were looking for, spoke with them and met with them for a courtesy inspection and was able to develop a program that passed inspection every time. Contact the dealerships you can sponsor the mechanics for training when factory schools are available or trainers show up. Have your mechanics get ASE Certified, most places pay a little more and reimburse for testing but it really gives you a base line on knowledge.
  9. That Mack drive train is what kept it going for all these years I would say.
  10. looked at my boxes yesterday they are Monroe's', the originals were the Gabriel's The old one and the new look identical except for the brand same color yellow.
  11. I ran into problems with mine also, crumbling after I cleaned it and pin holes after I cleaned the oil reservoir, then the hose was full of holes and ...... I found a KN style filter rated for diesel operation and installed that, works fine and easy to clean if you have to.
  12. The windows down on the drivers side, I wonder if the engine runs.
  13. On the ones for sale, post some pictures and a price
  14. Nice looking truck, looks like it is coming together good.
  15. The man in the picture is Jayceon Terrell Taylor, also known as Game, a 32-year-old rapper from Compton, Calif., near Los Angeles. Zimmerman is as white as Obama so how is this racists? Zimmerman is Hispanic, Obama is Black or are they both white? Guess it depends on who wants to sway opinion.
  16. Don't know yet, I am still messing with the frame/fifth wheel and paint. I am sure that on a bobtail truck one will never know, mine are/where Gabriel I think I got back Monroe's its been a couple of weeks and they are laying in the shop, I keep tripping over the old ones for some reason I have not put them in the scrap pile yet.
  17. Mike Just read this today, Get well soon! best wishes for a speedy recovery.
  18. speaking of hay, when I used to put up square bales as a kid inside we would salt between each layer to prevent heating and spontaneous combustion, also help with milk production because the cows drank more in the winter supposedly.
  19. I am with Jim, if the spring pins are bad/worn out that's where I would start. How did you check the driveline there should be no movement at all. maybe a pinch of movement at the carrier bearing.
  20. after checking everything I would say it is a tire are they tubless or tube type? Have they been balanced? BTW check your drive line alignment and U joints.
  21. That's what is on my truck, when I pulled the fifth wheel off one rear was bad so I decided to replace them all, I am pretty sure they are factory or close to it on my truck. (1980)
  22. When I picked mine up for my B they did not even offer anything in the 4" but chrome it was only $115, I figured a plain aluminized would have been close to that. Chrome may not get you home but it sure looks nice on my truck
  23. I just picked up the rear ones for my R, this is the part number Monroe shock 66878 for the front, about $35 ea + or - where you by them, that also crosses to the PAI and Mack number Just googled the Monroe number and this popped up http://www.drivetrainamerica.com/p-15889-66878-monroe-60-series-gas-magnum-shock-absorber.aspx?cagpspn=pla&gclid=CNOY5v36vrgCFY3m7AoduTkA1A
  24. To me depends on what I am doing, hot weather is great until you sweat into the paint or cold is great until your hands get to stiff to hold a wrench, then they both become miserable
