1961 mack ?
thomastractorsvc replied to mack mhe9's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
probably would have turned out better if it was on a Chevy frame -
Thanks to Superdog, I was able to get all my hood jewelry on. When I first started the project I was not going to put everything back on because of missing some emblems. Now that they are on the hood I don't know why I was even thinking that. I have sourced the trim clips if anyone needs some they are $.75 ea, you need 14 for the whole hood so it would be $10.50 plus postage

There was about 20-25 trucks and about 500+ tractors the theme for the tractors was Allis Chalmers, seemed like a sea of orange. They had working shops and stores like you would see 40-50 years ago. Several working saw mills, rock crusher, black smith, machine shop, a grainery with working mill. Steam powered and belt driven tools, a Ohio style gas station, ice cream shop, bank ect.. They also had railroad memorabilia and a working scale railroad.

Getting unpacked and settled from the Western Missouri Antique Tractor and Machinery Association, pretty good show lots to do. My boys liked it lots for them to do. First time someone really wanted to buy my B-61, caught me off guard. There was another Mack that showed up after lunch a 1977 RL685LST did not get to talk with the owner but it is for sale. The cab is rough, tires are bad but they drove it there. I just noticed reading the vin sticker while posting this it says 1973. Graham Brothers Truck

Here you go http://www.richardmurryauctioneer.com/ looks like the truck was being restored -
They showed three different water pumps for the Mack 6 cylinders depends on the length of the shaft and how many pulleys it has. Mine was the shortest with a two belt pulley, all buttoned up and back on can now see movement in the radiator. Mike it was not worth the hassle to track down bearings and if it had possible shaft damage since it had the lube fitting on top and was dragging and lots of end play, then try and make three gaskets and it comes with a warranty so that's worth something.

Just got the water pump new casting so don't need all the plugs it is a Haldex reman Part Number RW2001X CARQUEST and NAPA have them probably can get from others if you can find a knowledgeable parts guy. NAPA has it listed on line for $96 + $37 core I tried NAPA first they were clueless once I got the part number it shows up on the online. Oh well! could have saved $8 bucks

What American Companies could by Mack?
thomastractorsvc replied to james j neiweem's topic in Trucking News
If JD bought it or Case it would probably ok, if cat they would rebrand it CAT like the tractors and trucks they already make. Cummings would also be a choice based on monies -

Ready for paint
thomastractorsvc replied to Superdog's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
That's what I was think about doing find somebody who paints on the side. The B was a real PIA to work on it in my shop, takes up a lot of space so I am always moving stuff around, If the doors were in the side and not the end would be better but I did not build it only keep adding on to it. -

The water pump bearings are shot surprised it was not leaking, there was a lot of play and drag, probably 2 miles short of failure. Dropped off the radiator supposed to be ready some time tomorrow. Searched the threads and found a Mack part number 316GC184NX, called the local Mack of course not available and they would have to do a search contacted, contacted Ballard Mack in Mass, they had one. I had also called CARQUEST and NAPA, the kid at NAPA said they had one for a B-67 and a B-42 but nothing for a B-61, I said what if I bring mine to compare he said there was no picture, the guy at CARQUEST said give him a few minutes and he called and said he found three styles so I headed over and they had one but not in stock locally so should be in by Friday. Its a REMAN part number 701, I will get the manufacture and post it. Was $104.00 plus tax and freight + $40 core.
