  1. Forgot to add it's cab and chassis only. The current owner removed the 5th wheel to put on a dump body but never got around to it. If I buy it we can add a 5th wheel if you're interested.
  2. I found a sales brochure that said this model has the FA 534 front end and RAD 529 you're looking for but I've been fooled by Internet info before. I showed the photos to the old man who said it looked like it did have the light front axle. He also confirmed it has a Maxidyne engine and 5-speed Maxitorque transmission. The original owner said he quit driving it a few years ago when he had a heart attack and nothing was wrong with it then. He said the front fender damage occured when the tread on a tire came off and busted it. He saved the pieces but had the heart attack soon after and never got around to fixing it. He just recently gave the truck to his grandson and I'm negotiating a sale price with him now. I've got more photos but I was afraid to post them all here.
  3. Have you bought one yet? I'm may have one for you in Alabama if you haven't. Not sure if fits all your requirements but I think most have been met. Pretty sure it's a '68 R685 model. VIN is R685 T 3318. Let me know if you're still looking and I'll upload some photos.
  4. I know this ain't much and only shows the tailend but chew on this for awhile until I can get some better photos.
  5. Next time I'm over by the truck I'll crawl under it and get some photos of the tranny. Went by there yesterday to get some better photos but the old man had it parked wedged in tight between two trailers. Got to get him to teach me how to drive a real truck one of these days.
  6. I'm just trying to go by what the old man told me and not make any more mistakes in my postings. It's got one stick with the little button on the side so I initially thought 5-speed Maxitorque with a 2-speed rear end. I soon realized my mistake when I confirmed it has the Thermodyne engine and asked the old man about the tranny. He's the one that said it had the Roadranger. You look and tell me what you think.
  7. Y'all are about two days late and $3,500 short of "You bought it!" Vinny's already seen it! I don't know Vinny very well yet but I bet he's got a better sniffer than you think he has when it comes to sniffing out one of these U models.
  8. 1968 U model Mack U611 truck for sale. Hasn't been driven in a couple of years but started right up when we checked the oil, added some water and hooked a couple of hot batteries to it. Still runs real good for a 44 year old truck but then again, it's a Mack. Has a 225hp Thermodyne ENDT-673 Mack engine, 10-speed Roadranger transmission, single speed rear end and single rear axle. Front tires look almost brand new. Rear tires still have a lot of tread left on them too. Additional photographs available upon request. Minor damage to hood and bumper on right front corner, two BB cracks in front windshield, driver's side door glass intact but riser not working. Cab cancer right side below air filter. Probably some other minor issues but then again it is an old truck. Listing it as a 1968 model because that's what was on the last tag receipt the previous owner produced. Current owner remembered it being a 1967. Date of manufacture on fuel tanks are 2 67 and 1 69 C. VIN on door plate is U611 T 1375. If I'm wrong and anyone can tell me what year model it is from that number I'll change it. Sorry for the bad photos. They were taken before we saved it from the repair shop where it had been left and forgotten. Thanks for looking. Truck is located in Dolomite, AL which is just south of Birmingham near Hueytown. Asking price is $3500.00
  9. Might get in trouble if I mention a price here. Soon as I verify the engine and transmission info I'll enter it in the classifieds.
  10. It's being used as a yard dog right now moving trailers around but it's up for sale. It had been sitting since 2009 at this shop with an electrical problem with the lights. All we had to do was replace the two batteries that got stole while it was sitting there, put some water in the radiator, check the oil and it fired right up. Just like a Mack. A fellow at Sparr Truck Parts in Florida sent an email asking for my phone number. Said he was interested in buying the U model but never called. Looked it up on the Mack production number list and saw only 886 trucks like this one were made from 1965-1980. Since it's an older truck I'd rather see it stay here in the states and go to a collector rather than get shipped overseas and lost in Nigeria.
  11. Here you go, Vinny. Add this to your collection.
  12. It would take a little while and a bit of diesel to get it from Alabama to New York. It's okay, I've got a fellow from Florida says he's interested in it. Serial number is 1375.
  13. Name: Mack U611 (1968) Date Added: 11 June 2012 - 05:47 PM Owner: TicketMan4u Short Description: Single Axle Tractor View Vehicle
  14. You seem to really be chomping at the bit to see some U model photos Vinny so I'll go ahead and post what I've got. I took these right before we saved it from being long lost and forgotten. It was left to be repaired at a shop that shut down a few years back and never got fixed. I contacted the owner and found out he had purchased it from my partner some twenty years ago. When my partner found out it was for sale he immediately sent me to get it back. It's a 1968 U611T model we're using as a yard truck right now but for the right price.......
