  1. Eric, keep an eye on kijiji... I watch the four western provinces with search word "mack" and it seems to work, Alberta seems to have more available.. not as easy to find nowadays.... but an 'R' is easier to find than a cabover..!!! BC Mack
  2. is this what you are looking for? http://www.slclighting.com/shop/truck/cab-marker-lights/incandescent-cab-marker-lights/Chrome-Eye-Appeal-Cab-Marker-Short plenty of other options on their site if you want led BC Mack
  3. I did that conversion on an 8V-71 Detroit... you need to go through the Bendix catalogue and ensure the mounting flange and drive gear is correct for your engine, the compressor is about 2" taller and longer, other than that it was straightforward.. pic shows mounted on the Driptroit, note the coolant hoses must be on opposite sides of the head, they need to flow across and not be adjacent. I later changed the governor to a remote set-up as it was hard to reach, and you can spin the head 180 if you need the air intake on the other side... not sure how this helps with the Mack engine, just showing it can be done. Air build is super fast now as I had a worn out 400 in there. Do you think it is worth the money for a 1cfm gain? BC Mack
  4. Got the parts truck all ready for shipping.... loaded on my extra axles and got rid of the logging rack... just waiting for an opportune backhaul so as to keep the cost down. Already scored a few parts from it for my red MH, now looking into the possibility of selling the heavy Neway rear clip, 38k? Mack axles and the six alum budd 24.5 rims... yep, it's now officially a parts truck as the frame repair and double spread makes it so... BC Mack
  5. I feel it is time once again to bring in the ambassadors of the Canadian language.... the Right Honorable, Bob and Doug McKenzie, to explain Canada to Americans..... Take Off, Eh!!! BC Mack
  6. I would imagine it would need to go back over the border and be imported via customs.... can't register it without cancelled title and import docs.... that's how the rules work south to north, can't imagine any different the other way... but, been wrong before. there was another thread a few days ago about this very subject. BC Mack
  7. I got some photos for you today... trust it is what you need. I hope I got the hose direction right, pretty crowded in there...!!! BC Mack 1. general view of top 2. outlet from pump and injectors, return to tank 3. lift pump, aft fitting goes to secondary filter, front is from primary filter 4. inlet to pump from sec filter 5. stop cable 6. dynatard switch and torque reduction for low-low 7. air throttle cylinder 8. hand throttle lever (my cable is off)
  8. if you can't get a job at McDonald's... become a truck driver, there's a shortage!! I wonder why... here's yesterdays truck crash that closed a major intersection down on the Trans Canada Hwy, took his four axle pup dump over the freeway wall onto the road below... today a semi crash closed down the Alex Fraser Bridge for hours... and yet the 'wrap around stetsons' protest and strike for increased safety... duh!!! I think I'll stick to wrenching... BC Mack
  9. one has to ask if a devout Jew is exempt from driving a truck on a saturday?... is this new?, surely we have had Muslim drivers in trucks for 50 years, are these guys the first to have booze in the back? or have the legal system sharks found a new revenue stream... hmmm BC Mack
  10. my E9 is in an MH cabover so I have to assume is different in hose layout than your Super... but not sure. Of all the pics I have there are only two of the pump area.. however, if you give me an idea of which hoses you are interested in I can take pics of it next week... they are pretty snug in there and may be hard to photo... let me know if I can help BC Mack
  11. I have an in-line pump on my 93, sender is down by the starter on the flywheel housing BC Mack
  12. but she wrote... 36-24-36 that's not your phone number, is it? BC Mack
  13. And finally..... the drom rack I bought led me down a path for which there was no return.... I went to pick it up and ended up buying another MH, two 44k complete axles and a big box of parts... all I wanted was a drom..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! anyway, the drom is now serving a useful purpose as a parts bench... the 89 MH has to be prepped to go on a trailer so off with the logging headach rack and stacks... it even runs and drives, but with a sick E9 and a frame cracked it is a parts donor, for now.. :-) hope you have enjoyed my summer as much as I have, next April should have me reporting once again as I will no doubt have dabbled on a few things during the winter. BC Mack PS ooops, missed one photo from last post...
  14. Second lot of photos Cab floor in driver's area, what a mess, dirt and alum powder.... seems to be common problem for the footplate to corrode but mine was in reasonable shape, it was the spacer plate under the air throttle that dissolved. I have a new plate (did I just give Farmer palpitations?) but not going to use it right now, back in the box and into the safe. The old one cleaned up and got a good painting. Carpet was so bad it was ready to throw out.. but I got a quote on making a new one and out came the scrubbing brush and hose, came out not too bad. I put everything back into the cab without fixing it down to see what it looks like, just a bit more cleaning around the sides and it will all go back in. Both seats will come out, I have an air passenger highback seat coming so I will make two good seats out of four. The start solenoid on the later MH was simply wrapped in rubber, not too well protected for a wheelarch, so, off to Home Depot and came up with this sealed electrical box... simple to fit and will keep the road crap off my electrics...
  15. Well, Summer is truly over so my project ends another chapter... change hats for the winter and go work on my bus. Progress went well, never got to drive it out on the main road but my pleasure is fixing stuff, not driving, so I'm just having a ball..!!! Pictures..... first lot... the front came apart well, no serious issues but glad I did it as there was some small rust to deal with and a lot of dirt which will trap moisture, I had to sort out the hose and wire harness that runs from chassis to cab, every tilting cab has this issue, so I added wrap protection to the air hoses and replaced the factory wire harness plastic sleeving. for a trial I have installed led hi/lo beams as well as foglamps, probably overkill but hey, it looks cool.
  16. Farmer.... hey, I recognise that photo.. LOL will check my new parts/future resto truck too, but I'm sure it is like your old one as it is an 89... but it did come with an air-ride high back passenger seat in grey cloth.. with an arm rest... first thing coming out when I get it to my place...!!! my passengers will be more comfortable than me..!! BC Mack
  17. KSC It is a PR MkXI.... a rare high altitude photo reconnaissance model... RAF/Indian serial PA908 work stopped one day, it was traded off and sent to Pete Regina in Van Nuys CA who fully restored it and it is now on display at the USAF Museum in Dayton OH painted in PR blue and USAF markings wearing false serial MB950, the model type was flown by an American Sqdn in WW2 BC Mack
  18. Hi Vlad there were some DOT comments made to my employer about copper tubing used to repair air systems in older buses in our fleet (pre 1995).... seems the new production items do not match the sidewall thickness of older tubing... and industrial vs automotive sizes were not interchangeable nor of the same 'standards'... so, in theory, you cannot repair or splice in newer tubing into an older system... however, they said we could replace all the tubing in a vehicle with the spec used in a new production vehicle...!!! I don't think anyone takes any notice of this... we tried to comply but eventually the company approved our industrial building plumbers (plunger holders!!) to fabricate tubing for bus air systems, and they go to Home Depot for stock..!!!! seems the new heating systems in buses is now household copper tubing and soldered in.... I keep all the larger air system copper tubing off scrap buses as I do repairs to vintage buses and the owners want them standard so no plastic tubing goes into them... BC Mack
  19. sorry Paul... brain fart, I've been too long in too many industries, it all merges in my brain after a while BA is British Association...had to look it up after I posted, 'Aerospace' was too modern a word, thought is was 'aviation' but now corrected.... wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Association_screw_threads and if you want total confusion.. AN, MilSpec and NAS is a whole other world.... http://cdn.worldfasteners.com/catalog.pdf now you understand how my brain spins daily..... what happened to "nut and bolt"..??? BC Mack
  20. Hi Vlad.... try dealing with "three" different standards and a few variables... in the 60's to 80's the UK moved from BSF/BSW (Whitworth) to SAE then Metric... we also had to deal with BA (British Aerospace) fasteners, common was a 2BA, very close to a 10-32 but not quite... trucks and buses then could be a combination of all four right off the production line.... SAE frame, Metric ZF trans, BA electrical and BS Gardner engines. I keep my old BS tools to help local guys fix MGB's and Triumph motorcycles... in the late 80's a local Vancouver guy imported a Supermarine Spitfire wreck from India, word got out about my tools and he called to borrow them, nope, I come with the tools so I can add Spitfire to my credentials... !!! still need them as I still own a British made airplane myself... BC Mack
  21. Just bought another MH..... E9 500 12spd.... in theory it is for parts to go on "my summer project"... in the deal comes an extra pair of 44 rear axles and a spare T2180 trans... cab interior is same level as mine, grey velour.... engine is sick, needs a liner seal... but I am not parting it out, it still has potential. Truck was used for many years in Central BC, 100 Mile House, by a father/son business hauling logs, tankers etc, it is configured for 63,500kg / 140,000lbs. so, I've got back up for everything..!!! the seller is an interesting guy... for many years he has been collecting E9 MH's and parts to build his dream truck, he also ran a lovely 94 MH... but, as in all our lives, things change and he is selling everything off.... in a short while he is going to reconcile what is left over after the sales and advertise one more MH E9 restoration project with parts included.... once he has that info ready I will let you know... this has been a difficult sale, lots of interest from all over us and canada, but in all cases the shipping kills the deal... so far sales are in BC and Alberta... so it may be of benefit to left coasters.... trucks are in Vancouver Canada, about 3 miles from us border crossing. I asked him about the Cruiseliner on the property, yes, it is coming up after the MH stuff is handled... three axle reefer, 285 10spd... last inspection sticker is 2000... from his family greenhouse business. Again, once he is ready he will pass info to me for you guys... As he still has deals ongoing, I won't show pics of unsold or maybe sold items.... If you have a serious interest send me a PM, not open forum please... and I will pass your questions and contact info directly to seller. Black MH is the one I bought.... BC Mack
  22. 68F already discussed... http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/topic/38468-led-headlights-are-here/ I'm trying them in my MH.... only downside could be snow build-up, but a hobby truck is for summer fun. BC Mack
  23. hang him, I say..... trying to spread that Marmite on American's toast, what a dirty rotten scoundrel.
  24. Hi Vlad.... yes, for sure, part trois will be coming next spring..... still got three weeks left for part deux though and have pulled everything off the front now ...!!! if I get enough completed this year I will post some more photos the building behind the MH is where I am restoring my "winter project" Greyhound Scenicruiser, facility is owned by a railway museum and they use it as a heavy repair shop for their locomotives... I'm not a train buff, but when one of those GM F9's rumbles past with it's 3000hp two-stoke pounding away it makes me feel meek that my bus 8V71 two stroke is a mere 290hp... by design they look pretty similar, but the train's engine is a lot bigger.. and leaks a lot more oil..!!! BC Mack
  25. Is that a "side dump" trailer??? BC Mack
