  1. Another reason I DO NOT fly anywhere.. So far I have never had a plane stop at a junkyard!!!!
  2. Technically speaking it would be named: The hand operated manual trailer brake application valve, but it has many "nicknames" starting with hand, trolley, spike, Johnson bar, and other similar names.
  3. Congratulations!!!!!!! What a neat venue for a wedding... Is Dave up and around???
  4. I had the "pleasure" of trying to get around on of UPS's propane powered KW's on I-77 / I-81 up around Wythville VA with my 23,000lb Dodge 3500 and 32 foot trailer.. You would have thought he had a 238 Detroit.. VERY slow on the up hill and a maniac downhill trying to make up the time creating a total traffic cluster f**k!!!!!!
  5. Probably not?? Do your brake lights come on with the foot pedal (no hand valve) in the Normal position??? If so, and you can see the brakes apply, your foot pedal should be OK.. There should be TWO stop light pressure switches.. The primary should(????) be on the cowl / firewall.. not too far from the underside of the foot pedal. In the service line which applies air to the tractor brakes when you step on the pedal. The switch you have in the trailer service line is there so you have brake lights when you use the hand valve ONLY.. In the emergency position there is no air to the trailer..
  6. Big Brother watching??? Probably??? I am trying to foil that as much as possible as I still have an old flip phone and my 2014 Dodge Ram 3500 can NOT talk to Fiat/Chrysler!!!!!
  7. WOW!!! Bring up the subject of Farm Plates!!! There are as many variations of the rules of their use as there are STATES!!! South Carolina is a state with very liberal usage laws.. Vehicles with a manufacture's unladen weight of less than 7500 pounds farm plates can be used for "General and Ordinary purposes".. I have been to Fairbanks Alaska and back on the farm plates on my F-250 pick up.. BUT I have not trailered (32 ft gooseneck) my 1 ton Diamond T 201 pick up to any shows west of DeMoines Iowa for fear of the western Port of Entry's questioning the rule.

Wheels of Time is the American Truck Historical Society magazine for $52 a year and also includes a picture book of all trucks attending the national show that year. You can join online at aths.org The Double Clutch is the magazine of the Antique Truck Club of America for $36 per year and personally I like it better!!! Also you can join online at : antiquetruckclubofamerica.org or send me your email address and I can send you an application by email. Their national show is only about 50 miles north of you on RT 100 in Macungie on Fathers Day Weekend. About 800+ trucks!!! Also look at your Tractor Supply store.. I think WOT is back on their rack?? And also Vintage Truck which favors trucks up to 2 1/2 ton.

I am the same, have Wheels of Time from 2002 to present and Double Clutch from about the same. I took about 4 plastic bins (all I could pick up) of other mags like Vintage Truck, Antique Power, Green JD Mags, and other misc stuff to the two big nursing homes here in Laurens SC.. Got lots of hugs as a reward!!!!
  10. Check with Barry at Watts Mack. He is the sponsor of this site and if he does not have them he might know here they are available.
  11. The laws vary greatly from state to state, AND what mood the cop is in!! The South Carolina DPS Transport Police (Diesel Cop) officer that attended our ATHS Chapter meeting defined Commercial as "Neither the driver or the vehicle gets any compensation".. He went on to say ribbons and trophy's are not compensation, BUT if you move someones piece of equipment and they buy your breakfast or a case of beer that becomes compensation.. He did not say it, BUT implied that it helped if you own the equipment on the trailer, so fill out a dummy bill of sale.. With a big truck it is best to go across the scale and let them see your Antique / Historical plate. Better than being chased down!!!! And especially going to a show have a show flyer with you.
  12. Thanks for sharing.. I have never been out on the Special Olympics Convoy route, But it is awesome to watch them leave Farmers Market with a lot of horn noise..
  13. The bill of sale on my 1959 Diamond T 921C was just over $15,000 so I will say about $20,000 plus or minus about $2000???????????

JoJo, Thank you for taking the time to post all those pictures from Mt Airy... That is a little too far for me for a one day show.. Also I do NOT care for the loud "music" that Bottomley like to drown out other shows with!!!
  15. Hippy, I think(???) Roadway had some Macks set up the same way?? With a 60/40 weight distribution on the front drive axle.. And an air bag over the drive pumpkin so the driver could increase the weight on it in low range only to get out of slick spots!!
  16. Looks like you got hit worse than we did.. Also have a lot of small limbs to pick up. We actually had more wind on Thursday with clear skies..

That Willys wagon was at Harrisonburg last year,, They stayed at the same motel we did..
  18. Climate Change??? A BIG Bunch of BS. The Ice Age was how many thousand years ago?? If you look at American history we have been having progressively milder winters since the 1700's.. Who says we are not still coming out of the ICE AGE ?????????????
  19. JoJo I sort of agree with you, BUT from what I have read Putin's genocide is worse than Hitler's!!! Non accidental shelling many civilian sites instead of military!! Russia has already lost over 58000 men. Also read on Daily Caller that the Russian people are fleeing the country instead of doing their reserve call up..
  20. Tom, Thanks for the explanation and directions!!! I have that Paint on my computer and use it to crop my pictures for the newsletter.. I will have to go back and experiment with sizing!!!!
  21. I think(??) Brockway assigned the serial number when the order came in?? so there are gaps and out of sequence numbers..
  22. I can remember the Astro's, Diamond REO's and F Models.. There is an UPS F model in the America on Wheels museum in Allentown PA, hooked to a single axle pup trailer which has a video screen up on the deck and seating by the wheel boxes.
  23. I agree with Larry.. Your picture of Sept 13 shows a lot of GOOP around the springs, is there more elsewhere???? I would get this stuck one loose and get the lube changed and let it run for a while before parking it for the winter.. A long inactive period might just set things up worse??????????????
  24. Tom, Thanks for all the great work posting these pictures. I must try to get back up there again. but it seems there is always a show down here that weekend. All of my pictures are on my desk top computer.. I make a copy and light enhance and crop the ones I use in the chapter newsletter.. I have never learned how to resize????
  25. As long as you only get a small amount of oil each time you drain you are fine.. If you continually get a large amount, a cup or so, then you have to start thinking about rebuilding / replacing the compressor as the rings have lost their tension and are pumping motor oil into the air system.
