  1. We always called it a "Chain Link Starter"!!!
  2. Very True!!! As well as turning OFF fossil fuel sources before there is a feasible replacement.. Typical lack of common sense with a "Greenie" attitude!!
  3. 006, It will be hard to tell the exact year from those photos as the 200 series Brockway lasted for about 10 years with not many small changes.. Paul, American Joe Dog equals an Aussie "Jeep"
  4. Aussie "bogie drive" is the same as American Tandem or twin screw drive.. Paul you are probably right although some steel haulers used a tag axle to save tare weight.. Dead axle in Aussie terms.
  5. Brockway started using the Sheller Globe Mack R model cab in about 1975 +/- 6 months. Although they looked alike, and were made by the same company, they are not totally interchangeable. The cowl section was different because Brockway was still using a metal butterfly hood and Mack a fiberglass tilt hood.
  6. 006, You did not list your location, If you are within traveling distance of Cortland. The Brockway Weekend, the second weekend of August, in Cortland NY is the largest brand specific truck show (120 to 150 Brockways) in the country located at the Central NY Living history Museum on Route US 11 between Cortland and Homer in the beautiful central Finger Lakes region of New York State. There are a total of 4 museums located in this complex: Brockway, Tractors of yesteryear, Hometown with a lot of military and railroad stuff, and the newly established Firehouse which I have not seen yet. Friday is unloading, "Husky Drive" tour to lunch at Greek Peak ski center, fundraiser dinner, auction, all day BS session, and fireworks. Saturday is a parade from the museum to the static display area. This year it will be in a new location in Homer NY as Main Street in downtown Cortland is under construction.
  7. I will agree with Mark, Mid 60's model 257 as it looks to have a setback front axle?? I think the 260 was set forward?? Hauling steel it probably had a 220 or 250 Cummins?? Although in that era Brockway was just starting to install Detroits. Do you have any old paperwork which might have the serial number?? If so Tom Millard (Oldspwr) can narrow it down more.
  8. After many conversations on several forums I finally met him in person at the ATHS National in Des Moines IA. A great person and a wealth of knowledge... He will be missed by many in the antique truck hobby. My condolences and prayers to his family.
  9. I think(??) that maybe the top loading rears were used on the heavier weight rated rear end assemblies???
  10. That is a REAL sharp Truck!!! Keep us posted on your progress..
  11. My wife has watched so much Gunsmoke that she know what is going to happen before Matt Dillon does!!
  12. BUT it is nice to have two hands full to hold up to your mouth!!!!!!!
  13. I stand corrected on the bottom dump VS end dump trailers.. I also thought most of the hay haulers used cabovers to gain more trailer length as hay is a lighter cargo. I am an east coaster who has only run Calif occasionally!! And have not been out there in 11 years
  14. Vlad A single axle is very common in Calif pulling double tankers and dump trlrs.
  15. Sharp truck!! Is that Osborn on the door?? From Wyoming??? They are good Mack People..
  16. Matt, Congratulations on the excellent progress!!! Gonna be beautiful!!
  17. Joey Do you not realize that the voting machines are programmed to "screw up" when the red votes get ahead of the red votes???? That way the blue is guaranteed to win on the recount!!!
  18. Right now the weather man is not looking promising??
  19. Most of our chapter members, including myself, are going to the Waynesville show.
  20. I may be wrong, BUT I think the majority of the "Supply Chain" problems which are driving inflation up are caused by the greedy Wall Street money jockeys who have driven American manufacturing overseas just to get a good looking bottom line. I can only hope that the Ukraine situation does not morph into WW 3 as America does NOT have the manufacturing base to survive that we had in 1940.
  21. Thanks Seed!! and keep them coming..
  22. Thanks for the stories!! I had never heard of swapping doors either!! I have heard that at one time New York plates were not legal in Quebec and Maislin Transport mounted their plates on the tandem unit and with their Strick outside latch sliders trailers the Champlain NY shop would swap the entire boggie units!!!
  23. You are doing a fantastic job!!!! I also like Swishy's idea of adding a fairly simple Aussie "Roo Bar" to the front!!! Thanks for keeping up updated.. I hope to be able to see it in person someday.
  24. Our Chapter President and his father are in the water and sewer construction business, Saturday he told me they are having to raise their rates along with everybody else, BUT some of his jobs were bid on 6 to 10 months ago and it is very hard to get raises on them..
  25. Bob mentions that diesel went up $.40/gal in one day last week in Nevada, It did the same here or more here in South Carolina!!! Jumped from about $4.65-80 to $ 5.19!!!!! Saturday EVERYBODY in the Greenville SC area was $5.19.. COINCIDENCE????????
