    A combined ATHS Palmetto Upstate, ATCA Palmetto Classic Iron, and Show and Shine Trucks fundraiser for the Special Olympics handicapped children at the Mideastern Chrome Shop facility, 225 Bellinger Lane, Gaston SC, just off exit 125 of I-26 south of Columbia SC.     Did they still have the R model cab simulator??? Took a half hour to get the grandchildren out of it!!! I have heard that there is Andretti money behind this facility. Definitely a good half day tour.

    Thank You.. He is now worldwide famous.. If you do a You Tube search for Slim Dusty's about 80 trucking songs there are several with video and/or stills of many Australian trucks. One that comes to mind is "I am married to my Mack"

    Jim The Stude has the same Clark axles as the father and son who own the prewar Stude wrecker at Macungie visited with me as to where to get the lug crimps.

    Vlad, THANK YOU for the history lesson.. I have learned many things about your country I did not know before.. I cannot begin to imagine travel was that restricted..How much were the people allowed to move around within the Soviet Union???

    Vlad will have to answer about the commercially imported Macks, But I believe there were some in the Lend-Lease program during WW 2???

    Did the Mack's of that size use the same axles and spoke hubs as my Diamond T and the prewar Studebaker wrecker at Macungie??? Or did they build their own??

    A Robin is a smaller wild bird here in North America. Often the first ones out in the Spring season. Their eggs have an unusual light blue color and thus many paints near that color are called Robin's egg blue.

Poster Grenfell34 is a retired Cummins mechanic that lives west of Sydney a ways. Poster Hayseed is Australian Poster Hamish, I believe is a New Zealender.     I agree with Mike.. And having met you at Macungie, I know he is right!!! But that is all part of the FUN in this antique truck hobby.. If you took any more scenic countryside pictures of your trip, please post them as a lot of us enjoy learning about other countries.. Thanks Brocky

    The center is tucked away in behind a small airport. If I remember correctly, it is the first red light you can make a left at, about a mile from the I-78 exit, then your first right to the end, turn left, again to the end and left again under an overpass..

    I see that picture was at Worcester Sand and Gravel.. I seem to remember seeing it in person somewhere?? Springfield Mass in 2012??? Or Macungie??

    Had a similar thing happen at the then new Peterbilt dealer in Stroudsburg PA. Local farmer / owner operator, Jay Kresge, walked in wearing bib overalls and bargained them down to the bare minimum on a new tractor where they had figured in their profit from the financing fees. When they pulled out the finance papers, he pulled his checkbook out of the front of his bibs.. When the dealer started to object he just said "Call Chase Manhattan in New York"!!! He was a great grand nephew of S.S. Kresge who started Kresge Five and Dime which evolved into K-Mart..

    In South Carolina you can get a Class A CDL "Interstate Excepted", endorsement P-1, which covers you in your own equipment and load with NO physical or drug test. Non Commercial!! Absolutely NO compensation to you or the vehicle.. Ribbons and trophys do not count BUT your breakfast or a case of beer do!!!
