  1. Paul, Thanks for the info.. I was so impressed by everything at Alice Springs, I probably did not read all the placcards completely.
  2. According to the placcarding at the Aussie Haul of Fame Museum in Alice Springs NT AU this is the first Road Train.. A civilized WW 2 Diamond T. That pile of drums is on the last trailer.
  3. You did NOT look too well at Macungie!!! There were several of them there..
  4. I have my show registration on the Pony Express and have a room in Cortland reserved.. Can I look for some of you to visit with??? Remember to keep the Mack logos undercover.. Some of the older die hard Brockway people still do NOT accept that Mack shut them down!!!!
  5. Bob, Sterling was out of the upper midwest (Chicago??), started as Sternberg but changed the name as WW 1 started.. Built a lot of large military 6X6's for WW 2 and continued to build chain drive trucks into the early 1950's when White Motor bought them.
  6. I will bet that the service department went "Hog Wild" when that rollback pulled into the lot?????
  7. Most of the BIG roll backs that long are used by the equipment rental companys.. Check the ones in your area to see if they are going to trade / update their equipment either at their location or their associated / nearby locations..
  8. There was a multi page topic on the Nairn Transportation truck busses on the old Just Old Trucks site, but all that info is lost. They ran tractor trailer busses with Marmon Herrington 4X4 and 6X6 tractors between Damascus and Baghdad, across the desert, as well as between other Mid East cities. I have also seen pictures of them in Australia.. I almost think Henry Ford had some running in Detroit during the War?? If Jeff Lakaszcyck checks in he might still have a lot of the Nairn info on his computer??
  9. Lets NOT open that can of worms again!!!
  10. City Girl!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Also check out the availability / prices at the equipment rental places..
  12. Paul, You are being corrupted by Other Dog, BMT's #1 girl chasing pervert!!!!!
  13. The WHOLE blankety blank Northeast is way over taxed!!!!!!!
  14. The 78 Frtlnr I drove 900K miles with a big cam 1, we always had trouble with cam follower life.
  15. Yes, It is always best to pull into the scales and let them see the antique/historical plates... And yes a lot of the Diesel cops like to look at the older vehicles.. On our way to Des Moines IA The Iowa scale lady (50 y/o +/-) pulled me around back, and basically all she wanted to know was if the Diamond T in my trailer was mine and not for sale, making sure I was NOT commercial.. Do not know if she noticed the farm plates on my 3500?? When I had to get in the trailer to get the DT registration she oohed and aawed about the DT.
  16. Just heard from my S-I-L in Conn.. He had a tree come down on his garage.. NO structural damage, but 5 holes in his roof..
  17. Hippy I saw the severe weather warning on this morning's news.. Have not emailed my daughter in Cheshire Conn yet..
  18. And hope the scales are CLOSED!!!!
  19. As Bob Mowerman will attest, The Brockway Weekend in Cortland / Homer NY the 2nd weekend of August is a definite to put on your bucket list!!!!! Anywhere from 120 to 150 Brockways on Main St and in the Village park!! Along with 4 museums and a Parade...
  20. Not really!!!!!! His latest proclamations allow something like 2500 a DAY and give a lot of those already here the right to stay!!!
  21. Bob, I know the feeling!! Spent all day yesterday (Monday) going thru 10 days of emails, the mail & checkbook, sorting out all my receipts, checking the truck forums, and taking a NAP... Today I have to unload and drop my trailer then get the lawn mowed / bush hogged.. The good news is that Saturday PM Chris Maney said that ATCA is going to look into golf cart rental.. Possibly handicapped only????
  22. A very GREAT show!!! I had missed the last couple of years, and I enjoyed meeting all my old friends and making some new ones. I am sorry my arthritic legs and hips did not let me walk the whole show field to see all the trucks.
  23. Vlad, Again a BIG Thank You!!!! I have been offsite for most 2 weeks going to both the York and Macungie shows.. I really appreciate the pictures of the various buildings and their architecture.. Places which I would never see in person.
  24. I am the tall one on the right end of the back row..
  25. Larry: From my past experience you will have no problem dropping your trailer and bobtailing out and back in for food service.... NO Metal Gates!!!!
