  1. Rob Great Pictures!! Thanks for sharing your scenery.. Do your mountains help control the late frosts in the spring and early fall, like the big lakes do in upstate New York??? Nice looking F-850, Diesel or gas??
  2. West Virginia has some of what they call "High Water Bridges" normally the water goes thru a culvert but can flow over the top when high.. Definitely puts some pucker factor into the crossing!!
  3. FWD Doug may have a better person, But just address it to the Editor of DC and send it to the Boyertown PO Box..
  4. Yeah, It is Aussie, the steering wheel is on the "wrong"side!!! My squint says Ford, The Dodge windshield wrapped around further..
  5. FWD All you have to do it start with a list of facts, thoughts, ideas, high points, things you want to say. Then put each of those items into a sentence as if you were telling some one about it in a BS session. The editors will straighten our your grammer, word useage, contintuity and spelling(!!!!!!)
  6. OD That is neat.. The same piece of road in all 4 seasons.. Thanks much for your weekly phototour of your travels Brocky
  7. In the last 20 years of being associated with the VF (Vanity Fair) Corp the owners of Wrangler and Lee blue jeans, Red Cap work clothes, North Face yuppie clothes, and other similiar companys. They have gone from umteen cutting and sewing plants in the States, and a few in Mexico and Costa Rica, to ONLY 5 distribution centers. Absolutly nothing, except for very little raw cloth, is made here anymore. When they started closing plants I asked "How does America expect to sustain our economy with no manufacturing?" I am afraid our grand children will find out the hard way...
  8. As Joe D said in an earlier post, The 6V53 will turn 2800 RPM. No Idea how fast the original gas engine turned but probably not much more than that? Unless you are planning some long road trips you should be OK.. Remember you have to stop it also and those old brake systems were not that effiecnt either..
  9. Have met his nephew(??) Ivan in Snead AL at the Heart of Dixie show.
  10. FWD With ALL Big truck shops you do not get off the premisis until the bill is Paid!!!
  11. I am among the many who wish to thank you also.. Even though I am retired It is nice to keep up on industry news.
  12. Vinny is in trouble???? Must be some of those Winfall Wimmin took a trip north.. Will be there with my Diamond T 201 pick up.
  13. Tom Millard put a lot of Dynamat in his fathers Brockway 361 when he restored it. Do not know if he did the roof??? Here is a link to that restoration.. The cab interior is probably about page 30?? http://www.brockwaytrucks.org/messageboard/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1044
  14. Here is a link to some Australian antique trucks on tour. Several Macks included.. The Hume Highway is similiar to our historic Route 66. http://forums.justoldtrucks.com/73832/haulin-the-hume-2015
  15. Dave What Joe said X2!!!
  16. Joe I have a pair of decent fenders that I bought at Buddy Sombart's auction.. I think they are off a 360? Brocky
  17. I think ole Luke put a little TOO much weight ahead of the landing gear!!
  18. While you are soaking things be sure to keep spraying your solvent on the cam followers / Tappetts as they can freeze up and give you a stuck engine.
  19. Good time to check around if someone is coming up to York or Macungie??
  20. Another thing to try is after loading the cylinders with solvent. Make sure the tranny is in neutral, put a breaker bar and socket on the nut on the front of the crank, then put a bottle jack under the end of the breaker bar and jack it just enough that there is a little of the weight of the truck on the breaker bar. Walk away for a few days and let the solvent and gravity do the work!! When the truck drops, jack it up again.
  21. Rob It is similiar to what the Aussies call an SAR, but the hood does not slope enough?
  22. This is Michelle Cole's, of Smithville TX, LTL in the Texas wild flowers that she posted on the Just Old Trucks site.
  23. Mackdaddy I agree with you.. I drove one for Matlack in 1970. Could come out of Albany NY grossing in the high 70's on the NY Thruway, get in 5th, and never shift all the way to Syracuse. It was a combo that a newbie could not kill, and the old hand could sit back and relax..
  24. Randy Good story. I am NOT calling BS!!! I am assuming that 309 was a 4 lane that went over the mountain where 78 does today as 78 was not built until into the late 80's?? I was not in the area til the mid 70's.. And we had to go thru town on old US 22.
  25. That is a good looking R model wrecker.. With it to back up your Brockway 459 you can move anything your need to.. But I do not blame you for keeping it sorta private.. Your choice of jobs in your time frame and weather!! None of the hassells of commercial towing..
