  3. Paul LI and Paul OZ I still cannot understand the reasoning behind these people?? Even today (in Ferguson MO) they loot / burn / destroy their OWN living areas / neighborhoods..
  4. Tom Thanks for the pictures.. That New River is a long one, Starting back over around Boone NC.. Sure am glad I am far enough south so we did not get any of your white stuff!!
  5. Only Vinny
  6. Paul Thanks for the research and pictures.. Very Interesting!!
  7. I think(??) that the race riots of the mid / late 60's was the down fall of the open cabs. TOO MUCH $H*T thrown on the drivers enroute to an event!!!!
  8. Green Dash I believe on that 45 miles of PA on 90, CF just used a regular tractor with a big ballast block in place of the 5th wheel and a pintle hitch to drag the kite trailers back and forth.
  9. Yes Mark I definately remember those. One of the nicknames was "suicide doubles".. PA did not allow doubles so this made them into a truck trailer which was legal. They basically ran between York PA and Akron OH. As said above it was a long wheelbase single axle with a long slide on the 5th wheel and the lead pup had folding landing gear. The lead pup was dedicated to break bulk freight between the 2 terminals and the rear would be any long haul pup.
  10. Mark In the early 70's CF had some of those Freightliner 4X4's running between Buffalo and Boston pulling twin 28 ft pups on the NY Thruway and Mass Pike back when the NYT regulations said that doubles had to have 2 driving axles.. UPS and everybody else was pulling 2 40 or 45 footers with twin screw tractors.
  11. Thanks fro the Google picture..Guess I am a big dummy?? Never looked around that much coming out to 29 from Bedford..
  12. When that sign hits some wires it should be an "electrifing experience"!!!
  13. Here is a Brockway on an IH U-Haul chassis.
  14. I have loaded many van loads at Wheelabrator..A regular back haul from our DC in Luray.. Never noticed the weather dome on the mountain?? In the van they use 30 gallon drums on pallets, 18 to 22 of them in a single line down the center, with NO blocking!! Especially on an aluminum floor!! Have to take the corners real easy all the way to Laredo.. Thanks for all the pictures.. Actually I would rather have your snow than the rain at 28 degrees that built up ICE on everything and knocked out our power for about 6 hours.

    ATHS

There is some talk over on JOT about it.. If you had it set in your favorites / bookmark already you go to it with no problem.. BUT if you go to the home page from Google there is no listing for the forum.
  20. Mike I believe the father Lee has passed away.. The son Tim is still a member of ATHS.. There is no activity around the shop when you go by.. The lawn is mowed but the brush in the back lot had grown up to hide all the trucks from the road..
  21. Just think of all the fun with customs and EPA coming in from Russia!!!!
