  1. Tom How old is the Google picture???? The white truck in the right rear might be a DT or DR???
  2. Ken Sterling Hornoi of Regina Sask CA has one mounted on the back of a 1949 REO flatbed which he brings to a lot of the ATHS National shows and fires up. Probably will be at York?? I think that video Tom just posted may be Sterling's engine.
  3. Tiger Here is a link to a few pictures of the one Chad is building for his Brockway.. Steel frame with wood floor. http://www.brockwaytrucks.org/messageboard/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4737
  4. When I first got a radio in the 70's I stood 6 ft 4 in tall and weighed about 180 lb. One of the mechanics gave me "Broomstick" After another 50 lbs of beer "Dun Lop" over the belt buckle and a job change I became just Brocky. For the last 10-15 years have only used the radio in bad weather conditions.
  5. Mackdaddy I am sorry, I did not take any pictures of it.. Ivan Hosted the Heart of Dixie chapter show at his garage. He had it parked inside with all the front sheet metal and radiator off, the big old V-12 out in the open for everyone to see. He was doing body work on the back of the cab. and the door still said Taunton and Galt CA in mailbox stick on letters. Ivan's email addy is: dixielandtoys@bellsouth.net if they want to contact him.. maybe he has some progress pictures?
  6. Like Mike said, LUCAS oil stabilizer.. I run it in everything including the lawn mower.
  7. Ivan Taunton of Snead AL has one in his shop right now in the process of restoration.
  8. To expand on what Joe D said. AT built the Browns, but I believe that one of the Brown engineers came from Corbitt and a few of the the first Browns may have been rebuilt rebuilt Corbitts, thus the close look alike. Here is a Brown and a Corbitt side by side
  9. Mike Thanks for the pictures.. Am planning on stopping there again when ATHS is in Des Moines. 2017 Joe D. I stopped there on the way to Yakima. If I remember correctly the Brockway was one of the first trucks Father Bill Moon bought and/or restored.
  10. We are wishing you the best of luck in obtaining the position you want.. Sound like you are heading in the right direction.. Maybe the Macks will come along in time..
  11. No way.. I do NOT have that kind of checkbook!!!
  12. Dave I had hoped you knew about the auction. sort of dissapointed that the family is not going to continue the collection. Brocky
  13. Wrangler Blue Jeans out of Greenville SC ran those belt drives on their early 60's Diamond T 921's
  14. A real good looking R model.. Did you ask him if he would bring it to York or Macungie??? Will be up in the Doylestown area at my daughters for Turkey.. Will keep my eyes open.
  15. Paul Got the cure for that: Open the door stark naked, with a 12 gauge shot gun in hand, and loudly ask "What in hell do you want???"" All you see are a$$holes and elbows going out the driveway!!
  16. Ken I thought it was just the Mennonites who used the steel wheel tractors and some rubber(?) while the Amish used horses/mules to pull they could use a pony motor on a sulky to provide PTO power??? Or does it vary with which faction of the church they or in.
  17. Dave Nice work.. Thanks for the pictures Have a safe trip home Brocky
  18. Jim and Ron Thank you.. Just had to get my head screwed on right this morning. I now remember hearing about the generator type retarders out west.. I think the only one I ever saw was at the 2003 ATHS Syracuse show. Some one from Calif had a souped up supercharger Cummins engine mounted on a blue trailer and used one of those retarders to put a load on it. Straight pipe and it "TALKED"!!!
  19. 84 Thanks for the explaination.. That helps me understand the situation better. If you have to release the brakes to recharge the system then how do you hold back a train on a long downhill like Cajon pass beside I-15 coming down int the LA area?? Are the engines able to do it like a truck with a Jake?? Brocky
  20. Dave Be sure to post a picture after you get loaded.. Would like to see how you do it?? Brocky
  21. Our Chapter Had an enjoyable day in Cherryville..A small but nice museum with several Macks: N61, H67, EC, LF, and B-67 concave. 30's Chevy straight trucks and some Whites. Even if we left the house at 0600 with about 3 inches of SNOW on the ground 40 miles SOUTH of Greenville!!!! Leaves are syill on and now I have several large Pecan and Oak limbs to clean out of the yard..
  22. What Mike Y said!! Welcome to the dog house.. Both Bulldogs and Huskies!!!
  23. My neighbor used to dress up as a Pirate and when he opened the door he would growl "What do you want?" A lot of kids turned tail and ran!!!
