  1. Sort of a mix up in dates!! The ATHS Palmetto upstate chapter from the Greenville SC area scheduled a Tour of the C.Grier Beam (Carolina Freightways) Museum for this Saturday before we knew of the exact Colfax date. Bobby if the weather is too bad at Colfax stop back by the museum on your way back home. There will be about 30 of us there.
  2. Tom Go out in the back yard and dig up one of your coffee cans full of cash!!!!!! Then you can join us on the ATHS tour!!! At my age it is going to be a once in a lifetime experience.. Supposed to be close to 2000 trucks in Alice Springs.. Plus some of the top tourist stops.. Brocky
  3. I am not a train man, but How Long does it take to stop a train?? From the number of cars which crossed the highway after impact it does not look like the engineer ever applied the brakes??? And the tank cars which derailed well beyond the crossing finally stopped it??
  4. Big Dog mentions "Chassis Saver" paint.. I have also seen some good results from the KBS rust sealer paint.. and you can put it on with a brush so that you can work it in between the rails. Check with Eddy Lucast on the Just Old Trucks site for prices, etc. Brocky
  5. For a hobby truck not bad.. Just clean it best possible then seal it good with with rust inhibitor paint..
  6. With the Vermont procedure I THINK (????) you have to have a VT resident license it and the "Sell" it to you.. At least yhat is how it worked 10 years ago on my Diamond T. Send me a PM if you have questions.
  7. IH Are you sure it is the clutch.. If I remember correctly they are an air release. If you do not have air to it the clutch will stay engaged? Do a thourough inspection of the air supply before you spend big buck on a replacement.
  8. Page two.. Wayne English had his Green with black fenders B-61 and Randall Howell had his L model cabbed B-7? there also but did not get pictures.
  9. Here are some of the Macks at the WNC Chapter show in Arden NC last weekend
  10. Mike I guess I am "Old School" enough that with only 120k miles I would leave it just as is, with a good cleaning, as this tractor looks like a prime example of how Mack and Heavy Haulers set up a tractor during that era.. Just my 2 cents worth.. Brocky
  11. Paul Red Horse is correct. There was a discussion about this truck and more pictures on the Brockway site about a year ago. Brocky
  12. I am not a construction equipment man. You guys have some interesting names for some of your equipment! I have always thought of these as a big a$$ed roto-tiller used for mixing the dry cement into a base layer.. What else are you able to use this type of machine for???
  13. FWD Yes the Mack Museum has a lot of the Brockway build records. Usual proceedure.. Lipe sounds right. They were from Syracuse NY and Brockway used a lot of them.
  14. Jim and Larry Just heard a fairly good rumor that Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington KY has been chosen for 2018.. Will confirm in a couple of weeks.
  15. Ken All the details will be out on the Jan/Feb Wheels of Time. The Show is scheduled for Thur,Fri, & Sat. The majority of the Trucks arrive on Tues, Wed and Thurs AM. And then continue to dribble in thru Sat AM. And you usually have until Sunday noon to get out. As for hotels those listed by ATHS are the "Host Hotels" mainly for the big shots and shuttle bus schedule. Google Super 8, Motel 6, Ecocolodge, York city home page, ETC for reasonable rooms. If you can find one within walking distance of a Host hotel you can still use the shuttle bus. Just an idea, if you share a room with someone from BMT they might have wheels?? Or load your car in the back of the trailer?? As for showers we will have to wait for the WOT. Last year they had them near the cow barns, but the show was at a State fair grounds. I do NOT know what this Expo place is?? For sleeping in your trailer there would be no problem. Whether or not you pay for it I THINK(????) it depends on if you tell them or not!!, although a security guard might cause you trouble if you were wandering around in the middle of the night with out the "camper sticker" on your name tag. Mike H Superdog should be able to explain it better as He spent last year in the Superliner Hilton. Hope this helps. We still have plenty of time for planning. I usually make my room (Super8) reservations in Feb. and have never run into a sold out situation. Please feel free to keep asking questions. Brocky
  16. Maddog You are right the only hotels were the top dollar ones, had to take a bus from the spectator parking, and a lot of trucks srayed home due to the location!!
  17. Maddog is !00% Right!!!!!! Louseyist show I ever went to..
  18. When I was a kid the city park in Ithaca NY had one with a 41-47 Dodge front clip. I think(??) Toro still builds them for golf course work?
  19. Joe That is why I said Think and question marks.. Thanks for the correction.. Just knowing Johnson, I figured he would want the extra $45!!! Tom I will be going in 340 to 15 and then 30 also..
  20. Peter Mack Thanks for the pictures of the DT. Will print them out for my friend Brocky
  21. Red Horse Thanks!! It only has 32,800 original miles. It is in my garage but have not done much work on it yet. Originally purchased on Long Island but came to South Carolina almost new. The only rust is some surface rust on the front of the hood and grille piece. Brocky
  22. Another place to start looking is at older New York State snow plows.. Mack RM, FWD, and others ran single 12:00 X 24's on the rear drive with offset rims so they would track with the steers. I do not remember Walter or Oshkosh running spokes?
  23. The spectator admission charge is $10 per day per person, under 12 free. If you order the $25 Pass / name tag from KC it is good for the entire show from when trucks start arriving on Mon-Tues thru clean up on Sunday.
  24. Good!!! I am glad to hear that!! I was not sure how much KC HQ checked the registrations against the member list?? Did they Register online???
  25. JT Are you an ATHS Member??? Do not quote me on this BUT I think(??), and stand to be corrected, you have to be a member to to show a truck. ATHS IS MONEY HUNGARY!!!!! Nothing like good old ATCA where it only costs an extra $5 for a non-member to show his truck. Also am pretty sure you have to be a member, or at least order it thru a member, to get a $25 four day spectator pass. I was able to get one for my wife's non member girlfriend last year, when I called to get it, Kathy did not question me. By January they should have the show registration info/forms online at aths.org. Read all the fine print!!!! Brocky
