  1. Mike; The paving and gravel outfit I worked for had a couple of those smaller ones with 4 cylinder Deetroits in 'em. Neither one of THEM had brakes either (Must be a chronic problem with 'em,like the old deuce and a half military trucks). Ours had "power steering",but it wasn't working most of the time, and it was all I could do to get it turned around without running over anything. It worked great as a bead breaker on the big truck tires;I'd hover the edge of the bucket about 3 feet above the wheel, jump down off the loader and keep adjusting the wheel location to line up when the hydraulics finally bled off enough for the bucket to break the bead loose. Wouldn't have worked that way if the hydraulics didn't leak like a sieve. Speed
  2. Excellent!!! And HE thinks BUSH is stupid.... Speed
  3. I've never been known as a quitter,so the only thing I'm pondering is priorities. We can't effectively fight everything at once,so what needs to go first? I'm thinking it has to be stopping Gun Control, the assault on our Second Amendment and the idea of confiscating our guns. If we lose that,we're no better off than any other Country that gave up their guns and became "extinct". We need to find a way to bring on Criminal Prosecution of O and his band of merry Liberals. He's never proved he was an eligible Candidate,so in my book he is viable to face Treason charges,as is anyone who participated in covering for him. (Pelosi, who "vetted" him without ANY documentation. Reid, who,in what was touted as "the most open, transparent Administration in History",wrote the unconstitutional ObamaCare bill behind closed doors, with no meaningful discussion, and even the illustrious Ms. Pelosi didn't know what was in it. This is just a start-there's so much to cover,O will probably age to death before we can get this Badministration sorted out and changed. We might have to start a new string to cover the Fixing of O'ville. Speed
  4. Yeah, and he waited to talk about Benghazi until after the Election, too! Speed
  5. Sure do like that Brockway though. It just "looks RIGHT". Speed
  6. That doesn't mean you couldn't PUT one in. Where's your sense of adventure? Speed
  7. I helped someone sell a '47 Diamond T a while back, and that truck made my heart pound every time I even THOUGHT about it. I'd have bought it in a heartbeat if I could have raised the $1800.00. I'd post a picture of it if I could but my pics don't work with this system. I've tried photo bucket and all the others but they just don't like me. Speed
  8. She looks JUST like Letterman! Speed
  9. Good-we LIKE it that way. Speed
  10. "terrorism, organized crime, crimes against humanity, environmental crime, genocide, war crimes, weapons smuggling, human trafficking, money laundering, white-collar crime, computer crime, intellectual property crime and corruption." I'm pretty sure there's some of ALL of these things going on,might be worth looking into it. I'm TRYING to find a way to start straightening all this out without resorting to Civil War,but it seems to be funneling down to just that. Speed
  11. Well-that shoots the Hell outta THAT plan... Okay-on,to the NEXT brilliant idea... Speed
  12. I agree-and I'll add reducing their Salaries to 60K per year. That's enough for most Americans to do well on. If they're not willing to do their jobs for those wages,if they think they're worth more than that, they're there for the wrong reason, their priorities are wrong, and they shouldn't be there. There's still PLENTY of capable Americans who would take their jobs in a heartbeat and do 'em with INTEGRITY. Speed
  13. I'm REALLY hoping that what I'm hearing is true-that she and most of this Administration have been busted by some sort of World Police, and have been getting the choice of either resigning or wearing the chrome bracelets and facing International charges in International Court of Justice,in the Netherlands. (A little research, though, tells me that the only International Police I've been able to find is INTERPOL,and I learned that our clueless leader has already issued, and AMENDED,an EO that EXEMPTS INTERPOL from any and all search and seizure laws of the US. That means,if O wants to hide anything, all he has to do is give it to INTERPOL,and no Court in the US can touch it. Lovely! Speed
  14. Yeah, but SHE has a DEGREE in lying. Speed
  15.  Speed
  16. I learned to drive at 10 yrs. old in an old Ford 800 with a Cat dozer on the back. I'd LIKE to say my uncle taught me,but He drove up to me and said,"I need ya to take that truck and follow me to the other side of the canyon-I'll drive ya back." He was gone before I could tell him I never drove anything before,so I learned on the way. (V-8,5 & 2speed) Scared the chit outta me crossing the railroad tie "bridge" at the bottom,it was a complete surprise to me,hidden by the willows until I was there, and about a V-W wide, and on a turn. I made it to the other side of the canyon okay and had the 2 speed figured out by then,so that became MY job for the Summer, when I wasn't learning how to run everything else he had. I really didn't mind coming home at the end of Summer vacation. One thing I do now id adjust the length of the shifter, and angle if I can,to give me enough feel to shift it accurately but enough leverage to not have to jerk it out of gear.(I can hear it already-"You shouldn't HAVE to jerk it out of gear." Remember, this is rolling junk in many cases. (That's why they're free,or close to it.) Real truck drivers would probably jump out of these rigs, slam the doors behind 'em (2 or 3 or more times) and go tell the boss where to stick his "truck-shaped-turd". Though I don't have a magic touch,I have never failed to get a truck from here to there under its own power, and never wrecked one. (THAT took some supreme efforts a couple of times.) Over all I figure I'm slightly above average,if only for being stubborn enough not to consider quitting an option. Speed
  17. I get it now. Just try to remember some people just aren't as good at shifting as you are,YET. But as long as they try,cut 'em a little slack. (I do know a couple of guy who don't really CARE if they scratch gears all day;people like THAT-I agree, they should take up Golf or something. I'm kinda like that when I watch a four wheeler get all messed up on an easy hill. It's like,"Jeeze,dude-either go home or let your WIFE pick the route!" Speed
  18. That makes perfect sense to me;the lines to the 2 speed are 1/2 inch vacuum hose(I think),but I can adapt that to the size the shifter uses easily enough. I might go ahead and splice into the lines somewhere downstream of my vacuum source,it's such a pain to disconnect the current switch in the dashboard. I think I can connect the "bat wing" switch elsewhere and see how it works;then if it turns out to be unworkable for some reason I can just disconnect it again and splice the Vac. hoses back together. Thanks for your help on this. Speed
  19. "My rear axle ratio is 3:90 LOL!" I'd LOVE a 3.90 axle ratio in my '54 GMC-it's 6.40 on the high range, and 8.?? on the low range. The double Over would be a great thing,if I had the power to use it. With the Brownie in Over and the Clark in 4th it's good for 75 at about 2600. That works okay for me. With about 100 more horses,Double Over would get me 105 at 3,200-WAY faster than the brakes are good for. Speed
  20. A REAL truck with more options?
  21. Last time I heard a turbo that loud,it was an old White hay hauler, headed out of town to a ranch, and came back the same afternoon on a hook. No-that's not true-there's a couple of ranchers' kids' Diesel pick ups around that eat their turbos every few months, and they shriek like that just before the turbo grenades. Wonder why that keeps happening? I have my guesses. Speed
  22. My understanding is that the "D" after each model # indicates Direct. I'd take my "low value" amount to the seller and see if he'd take it,in cash;if he holds out for more, offer to come up with something in the middle of "low and high value". If that's not enough,I'd say,"Well, let me see what I can do." I'd catch the seller a day or so later, take the last offer, and another couple of 50's,and wave that in his face. If that didn't get the truck,I'd have to walk away, because It goes against my nature to pay fair market value. Speed
  23. Once you get the agreement signed, and stored away safe,it might be worth asking if he could move your trucks up in line a ways closer to "Next". Worst he could do is say "No",but????? I don't know how you're fixed for free time, but you might even see if he'd buy the needed filters and fluids and let you change 'em on your trucks, thus taking some pressure off him. (And protecting the innards of your trucks as well.) Speed
  24. "if the owner of the lot says he will fix em hold him to it, I would want to see the trucks and make sure he does it, may take a while but it would be cheaper to let him do it for sure." Get it in writing!! If you know a Notary that might do you a favor and go with you, take him/her with you if possible, present the yard owner with a simple statement of intent, and be explicit what he offered to do and what you expect from him. Be sure to remind him this agreement protects HIM as well as YOU. Have the signatures Notarized. Even without the Notary, still get him to sign the agreement, and let him know this isn't to make trouble,it's to prevent any misunderstandings. People often say things like that early on,but back out of the agreement later when they discover what the expense will be. Speed
  25. If I may tag a question on here-That "-valve you showed. I have one that looks like that but is marked for a 2 speed axle;could it be used on the vacuum Spicer 1350 2 speed axle on my '54 GMC? I'm not sure it'd flow enough volume to shift it quickly enough. Speed
