  1. I've tried downshifting sooner in my truck but end up shooting myself in the foot. The Detroit powered Sterling I drove prior to this pulled well when downshifting at around 1300 and got better fuel mileage than the Mack.
  2. Yep, we got Barry jr. He's a Wolf alright.
  3. Looks like she ain't afraid of nutthin'.
  4. I hope when every one of those P'sOS gets to where they're going their 72 virgins turns out to be the male actors that were turned down for parts in "Revenge of the Nerds".
  5. I drive a '14 Pinnacle with an MP7 that cruises at it's governed speed of 65 mph at about 1425 rpm and downshifting above 1225-1250 is to soon for this truck. This is subject to debate but my opinion is to keep it in the operating range where it will perform at it's best while pulling a hill, without pegging the needle of course.
  6. That would work anywhere else the world, but we're talking NYC. It's the government's job to protect the people from the evils of society i.e. garbage trucks, soft drinks, etc.
  7. Good luck trying to check out a book from the Winfall Pubic Library. The collection is pretty much limited to back issues of Glamour and Cosmopolitan magazines and the librarians are always fighting. I'd avoid the place if I were you.
  8. Double digit temps? Are you sure you weren't in FL? She's a beauty, but the tramp stamp-WHY?! I have the "How To talk To Women" cassette. It's a 2 second loop of some guy that sounds like me repeating the phrase "Yes Ma'am". It really works.
  9. Fortunately most trucks these days look like crap anyway, so the mirrors don't stand out as much.
  10. These folks advertise a lot in Pittsburgh but also have NY offices in Albany and Saratoga Springs. I've dealt with real estate lawyers long distance with no trouble but I don't know if that would be practical in your situation. http://cordellcordell.com/
  11. Happy Birthday! Relax and be Jolly, Green Giant....
  12. I see no-zone trailers on the road every so often but that's about it. As Ezrider said, there needs to be more emphasis on training new drivers how to interact with trucks. Some benefit from having a trucker in the family or as a friend but it seems the majority are clueless to the fact that the larger the vehicle the more time and space it needs to do the same maneuvers as a car.
  13. It's good to see that those of you that have been dealt the same blow in the past have moved on, and in many cases it seems to have worked out for the better. Let's hope the same holds true for Paul.
  14. Nice truck, but I was expecting to see an upside down nekkid woman. Hmm....I think I just discovered a cure for sagging breastes's
  15. That situation got turned around quick. Maybe they woke up and realized they need a reliable owner/operator to haul their freight just as much as you need to eat.
  16. Sorry to hear this. Best of luck in the days ahead. I'm sure I don't need to tell you this but BMT is the place to be if you need to talk, vent, or maybe just want a laugh or two. Stop in when you can.
  17. LOL, it wasn't my intention to stir up a fashion debate in a Mustang thread on a Mack Trucks site. Given the similarities I'd say we're all correct. That aside, the little dude does seem to have...uh..."weasle-esque tendencies".
  18. It's not all bad and maybe I'm reading into it too much, but I don't trust these large corporations and tend to look for an ulterior motive whenever there is a new idea that appears to be strictly for the benefit of drivers. I'm just jaded I guess. I see anything positive as a just another approach to getting more cheap meat in the seat.
  19. Well, you didn't get shot at the border. I'd say it's a keeper!
  20. Pretty funny, although I'd be laughing and vomiting at the same time. I drive well over 100,000 miles a year with no troubles but don't fare well as a passenger. I've had a problem with motion sickness all my life, even on a flat interstate. Whoa, that's a Navy Pea Coat! Besides that, CPO's are dyn-o-mite! At least they were in 1974.
  21. Best of Luck, hopefully it will be worth the BS they're putting you through. What do they care about your a/c? Sounds like a recent college grad/management trainee type who wasn't alive in the days when a/c was an extra cost option limited to luxury cars. I've only ever used rubbing compound on headlights. It's cheaper and I've had great results. I also follow it up with a coat of wax when I'm done. They seem to stay clear longer.
  22. No argument here but with Ryder's focus being on local and long haul on-highway operations, I see this as little more than new approach to finding a warm body to put behind the wheel.
  23. That thing is insane. They should install an air deflector on the roof of the KW to help improve fuel mileage.
  24. That could be where the idea for the BCR came from.
