I would like to get a service manual for it, that's on my christmas wish list. And they are the old style where if one is stuck, they're all held up. Ben

I diconnected the rack from the linkage to the governer and it's definately the rack thats stuck. But what's confusing me is that it wiggles a little bit but it's still stuck. But the next time I get a chance, I'll try lubing it up and tapping on it a little more and see if that works. Ben

So what you're saying is............if the rack is still stuck after the 4 lbs. of C4, then try a 20lb. sledge? How should I shape the charge to dislodge the rack? Like a triangle to concentrate the force? Like a little bunny rabbit friend of the gopher? Tim

OD, you could tell a Quaker State motor just by looking in the oil fill cap. It would sludge anything up! I can remember cars coming in with valve cover gaskets leaking something awful, I'd ask the owner if he used Quaker State, and he'd reply "Sure, how'd you know?". Because the oil return holes would be plugged solid with gunk, and nowhere for the oil to drain back down but out the gasket. Each valve cover would hold 2 quarts of slimy crust, and as low man at the Exxon I had to clean them out. Late 70's Chevy with camshaft issues were the worst. The entire lifter valley would be packed solid! Hours at the parts washer. Jim, we had Blatz beer $3.99 a case in the late 80's. or Shaffers. or Old Millhunkie(Millwaukee). Hollywood can't be fixed, it's run wholly by depraved homos, drug addicts and whore mongers. They show what they want to see and everyone that subscribes to their way of thinking is brought down by it. I'm not a religious guy, but I have a deep sense of right and wrong. Nothing good comes from violent video games or every other show on reality TV filled with self-absorbed gays and the like. What happened to unbiased news reporting? A few years ago I witnessed a newsworthy event. Having been there, I watched all 3 local station's reporting and all 3 presented it in a totally different light, none of which was exactly as I saw with my own two eyes! That is cool and all, but we need to refer back to the fact that is a YARD TRUCK and it shan't be modified beyond it's current configuration. As long as the motor in it runs, that motor is gonna stay there. If that motor quits running, then my dad is gonna scrap the truck. Well I figured out that it's the right side rack that's stuck. I tried taking a small piece of wood and tapped it with a hammer but the rack didn't move. I didn't wanna hit it too hard for fear of bending/breaking something. What doesn't make sense to me is that it seems like all 4 of the injectors on that side are loose but the rack still isn't moving. Why would that be? About 3 months ago I checked and everthing was free so it just locked up recently. Ben

The whole thing on this sphincters part is complete cowardice . I would drag his dead body out in the street and burn it without giving him a second thought. Ben said stiffer sentences for criminals might help, but in this case, he couldn't have been deterred. I agree with Rowdy, infamy is enticing to these kinds of jagoffs. I'm with Archie Bunker on this one. If everyone had a gun,crime would end. If anyone in that school had a gun on them, I guarantee the shooting spree would've been much shorter. Don't make this tragedy an NRA soapbox, nor allow it to scare people into thinking that guns are what caused this. I'm thankful everyday that I'm doing well enough for my wife to be a stay at home mom who homeschools our children.

Today I went out and did some investigating on my almighty 8V71, only to find that I am facing every Detroit Diesel owner's worst nightmare: A STUCK RACK (Gasp!!!) So I'm wondering what the magical technique I can use to cure this dilema so as to not get a connecting rod in my stomach when I go to fire it up. Is there way to break the injectors loose without using any extra special tools? If not, where can I get an injector tool? I want to move towards getting this motor running and that is a major setback. So if anybody knows the cure, could you please enlighten me? Thanks a lot Ben

I will say that if I had my choice of any stock pickup, it would be a GMC Duramax or a Ram w/Cummins. But a dodge gasser is just as good as a peterbilt Ben

I know what you mean, Cousin. I only get to run the yard truck as long as it doesn't snow. Once it snows, it's slumber time for that rig. And it has the good ole thrifty six with no exhaust on it and man it sounds wonderful. And I'm with you on cleaning out the cab too. You see the black toobox in the front of the bed? It's completely filled with various tools and equipment. Before I got the toolbox, all of the stuff used to be inside the cab and it was a complete disaster. But I took the time one day and cleaned everything out and organized it all into the toolbox and now everything is all neat and tidy Ben
