I PAID Watts a visit today for some B61 wrecker stuff! If I didn't have to work, I could spend all day there. Tim

Happy birthday from Ben and I! Judging from the pics and such, I'd bet you are almost out of your twenties! Tim

R-model Project
JumperAndSon replied to 2stacksuperdog's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Well if you buff out the paint and get it shiney, then you can paint the visor red and it will fit in perfectly. Not to mention the truck will look a million times better when it's shiney Ben -
B Model starter change over
JumperAndSon replied to MACKTRUCKS4's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Yea, when we went to Watts Mack to get the starter for the 711 (which we found out we didn't need) those were the ones they recomended for it. Ben -

B Model starter change over

"Getting rid of the parallel switch and want to know if anybody knows a part number for the diesel starter? Half the parts were removed by the thieves that helped themselves to the copper and batteries, (by the way, I caught them and had them arrested )" I would've just shot them dead and been done with it Ben -
I used to drag race across the Westinghouse Bridge in my former pre children life. I put some flooring in Keystone Commons right after RIDC took it over, that place is immense! We took our one ton extended van up the freight elevator and drove it to a job on the second story. You shoulda seen the 30 yard roll off boxes full of copper that the demo contractor hauled off, cha-ching! They sold all of the gantry cranes in one building to China, and one guy working for the rigging company fell to his death while we were working in another building, that sucked. On route 30 , just up Electric avenue used to be Vincent's Pizza, best greasy pie ever!

Ohhh, that's not good. Hopefully it's just something simple and not a huge project to fix. Ben

R-model Project

Awesome! I love seeing projects like that. Not a perfect restoration or anything, just a neat old truck getting freshened up a little bit. Keep up the good work Ben -

I think someone's calling us out! Remind me to park next to Randy at Macungie, and start my Detroit before he starts his sedan engine, we'll see what real garden equipment sounds like. Tim -

Well I gotta say that the red R looks a lot worse with the picture right side up. I think the best bet woulda been to take the body from the green one and put it on the red one. But we can't save everything I can say that the General is pretty sweet. I was dropping my siser off at softball practice yesterday and there was one sitting right there next to the ball field. I looked under it and the oil pan was big and long and there was no oil dripping from it so I guess it wasn't a good motor in it Ben -
Okay guys, I'm going to throw in my two cents here. First of all, the upsidown pictures are not that big of a deal. With mobile devices, there is no way to avoid it. With my dad's iPad, some pictures end up upsidown. There's nothing we can do about it. There's no need to get all bent out of shape about it. As far as spelling and grammar however, there should be some concern. I will admit that I am not a perfect speller, but I try my best. I think grammar is much more important than spelling. What bothers me the most (it really bothers me actually) is when people do not use proper capitalization and punctuation. I can't stand when people write a whole paragraph with like three different sentences and two questions in it but do not use capitalization at all and use no periods or question marks either. I have one heck of a time trying to figure out what they're trying to say. As a 14 year old kid with a pretty complex social life, I have a pretty good amount of experience with this stuff. Teenagers these days seem to have absolutely no regard for grammar at all. Even my own sister could not care less about making her texts look good. When she is texting her friends, she doesn't even capitalize the first letter of the text! That just boils my blood. When I give her a hard time about it, she gives me the same answer that all teenagers give me: "It's just a text message. When I write something in school, I try to make it nice" Apparently that's the way kids think nowadays. What they don't realize is that by sending texts and making posts that look horrible, it makes them look stupid. I was talking to my buddy on facebook last night and I told him that he should work on his grammar. He of course said "I'm just posting on facebook." (except when he said it, it wasn't written nearly as well as that) I told him "Dude, by not proofreading your posts and texts, you're just making yourself look stupid." He said, "Well I'm actually really smart when you get to know me, I'm a whole grade ahead in math and english." This is what I told him: "Being smart and acting smart are two completely different things." If you don't present yourself as being smart, then people will not think you're smart. I'm definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I am sharper than a bowling ball. More importantly, I try my best to make myself appear smart. So yea, if you take an extra three seconds to go through and proofread your posts, text, and messages, it will save you from years of being remembered as that stupid guy than has no grammar skills. Not to mention the inconvenience for us that have to read that stuff and try to figure out what you're trying to say. You don't have to be perfect, you just have to put some effort forth to make it look at least readable. Sorry if that was offensive to anybody haha. Ben

One of our customers is a DOT inspector for Pennsylvania. While he was at the shop getting some flooring, he also took a peek at the International which has the 6V92TA with straight pipes. My dad asked him and he said that there was no laws or restrictions on exhaust that he knew of. So I think if the DOT officer says it's cool, then it's cool Ben

Well the other day we were on craigslist and we saw an ad that said "detroit 53's". We called the guy and he had four engines: a 2-53, a 3-53, a 4-53, and a 6V53. He said he wanted $450 each for the 4 and the 6. We were thinking the 4-53 would be awesome for our GMC C30 rollback and the 6V53 would be nice for the B60. This was Thursday night and we told the guy we'd be out on Saturday to get them. Saturday afternoon my dad called him and he said he had sold all of them except the 3-53 which he wanted $4000. So that event provided some disspointment for me Ben

Congratulations! I sure envy all you professional truck drivers because I probably wouldn't make it to 10,000 miles before I got tired of driving Ben

That's so terrible!! If I did anything like that, (I certainly wouldn't anyway) going to jail would be a privledge. If I didn't go to jail, I would have the absolute most miserable life phisically possible and a short one at that. There is no forgiveness for doing that to a family member. A thief is the absolute worst person that could possibly exist. I sure hope that he gets a severe amount of punishment but there is no punishment severe enough to suit the crime of having a criminal mind. Ben P.S. Did you get your motors and stuff back okay?

It's Ben here. (gasp!) Yes, yes, I know, I haven't checked in here in forever! I've been really busy with schoolwork and all the other stuff I do (five 4-H clubs, three Boy Scout troops, two homeschool groups, work, etc, etc,) and all that teenage drama that I guess I'm supposed to be involved in, I haven't really gotten a chance to stop in. But now I've decided to make a conscious effort to stop in at least once a day so I can be in on all the action like I used to be As far as life at Jumper and Son Antique Trucks and Automotive, (yea, that's the catchy new business name I came up with) We have been pretty busy with getting things rearranged and organized (our 10,000 square foot shop is not really enough space) so the projects have kinda been put aside while we work on some organization. That is of course with the exception of the engine swap in our family Suburban. Sadly we did not put a two stroke in it, we just put a little 320HP 414ft.-lb. GM 383HT brand spankin new crate motor in it. We have big plans for the future though. Some of those plans are actually having the B61 wrecker on the road, finally finishing the Cadillac powered 1948 Ford pickup project, of course my truck, and maybe even the aquisition of a few more two strokes Ben

Idiocracy is a very real concept, however not a family friendly movie! Randy, eat a sammich or something, you're looking too healthy. Rowdy, having seen the FoMoCo projects that you drive, I would never guess that the operator is as literate and articulate as you are, been meaning to compliment you on that. Vinny, I have no idea how to post pics, so your upside down ones are a sight better than mine. Tim

I couldn't really see an oil slick under the General, wonder when the last time it ran? Tim -
The mall is pretty much ready to be demolished from what I've heard. I do tons ($) of work for the development company that owns the whole area there and mums the word on what's going in there. Major hotel remodel, though. Tim

My dad's uncle used to work for Rochez in Braddock , and they always had Macks as far as I can remember. I'd love to see some old pics of their trucks -
That pic of the Triangle could have been taken today! Even looks like the same cars are still there! That place is an island of Swissvale inside Rankin. I grew up in Swissvale, even graduated from Swissvale high. That was another lifetime ago, I've gone East 17 years ago. I still get ships for the guys and girls at the shop from time to time, and when I'm working in the area, we stop for lunch. We did carpet in most of the owner's rentals nearby. My favorite version is the roast beef/ corned beef combo, excellent! Pittsburgh sucks to drive in period, big truck or not. I have a big job coming up at Parkway Center Mall and I dread the two months of traffic. Tim

Happy bday to fellow Burgher! Yinz need to go dahn to the Triangle and get a Battleship and a 40 of O.E. to celebrate! Tim
