  1. Sorry I missed your birthday, Dean. I was out of town. Hope you had a great day. I still need to get over to your place and see all the toys.
  2. You'll have that thing started any time now.
  3. "If you think "The Big Easy" is your sister-in-law..."
  4. I'm gettin' excited...and it's not even my truck!!!
  5. Here is a generic plumbing diagram.
  6. Pretty much. Just have to put the double check valve in the right sequence so the foot brake and trolley valve work properly.
  7. Here are a couple of other treadle valve brochures. Treadle Valves.pdfTreadle Valve Numbers.pdf
  8. Here is the brochure on an E3 foot valve. I like the E3 better than the E2 because of the "2 stage" feel it delivers.E-3.pdfE-3.pdfE-3.pdf E-3.pdf
  9. The indicator thing works really well to check what you're getting. Once the lock nut is tightened, it removes all the "slop" from the threads on the adjusting nut. So, depending on the pitch line clearance of the adjusting nut and the spindle, the lock nut will remove a different amount of clearance. 1.5 flats might be good on some. Might need more or less on another. I like to check for clearance with an indicator after the lock nut is tightened. But, in all reality, as long as there is a little clearance there, it's probably not all that critical. If there is no clearance at all, well, that could cause some issues. Too much clearance...yeah that could cause problems too. But the sweet spot is fairly generous.
  10. Yeah, seems like Mack frames were slightly narrower than most.
  11. Maybe do the cab in yellow and the fenders in the same green as the frame? Something like this?
  12. I have seen rear tandem axle used as a single. Main thing is getting all the mounting brackets right. For instance, using a rear drive axle off a camelback spring will need different brackets to attach to a single axle arch spring.
  13. Love the old steel dash trucks! My favorite paint job has always been the yellow with black fenders.
  14. "If your yard sales have an adult section..."
  15. Mine was the APE style, if that helps.
  16. I found the fuel pump section in my book. If I knew which pump you have, I’d be glad to post some pictures of the appropriate pages. APE. PSJ. PSM. CAV. there is a high speed adjustment screw on some of them.
  17. I'm not your best resource! Lots more qualified guys on here. I do have a service manual around here that might have some procedures in it. I will look and see if I can find you some info.
  18. Johnny Russel...the RCA blimp! One hell of a great singer. God rest his soul. "Catfish John". "Rednecks, White Socks & Blue Ribbon Beer". "The Baptism of Jesse Taylor". And a host of other songs and covers.
  19. I drink bourbon. But if I want a beer, I usually get a Miller Lite. I’m starting to sound like a redneck version of the Dos Equis guy! “I don’t always drink beer, but when I do…” LOL!
  20. I think one is definitely a bit more sophisticated than the other...
  21. If you killed a deer on your honeymoon...but your husband didn't...
  22. If any of your wedding gifts required ammunition...
  23. Not a problem. Even a good mechanic, if he’s smart, will sometimes ask for opinions before tearing into something. You never know when someone will have the exact knowledge you need. I’m glad he got it smoothed out. And, yes, I believe he may have been into one or two before!
  24. If you've ever stirred your coffee with a screwdriver...
