  1. I joined a chainsaw group too. I used to clear right of way for a living. I have run a few. Clearing is NOT the same as logging. Different goals in mind. Nobody there thought my views were valid. Everything I said was wrong. So, I said screw it and never went back.
  2. Yeah! That didn't come in that B61! Should be fine for a toy truck, but the Thermodyne will likely struggle with a 5-speed and a D8 Cat on a lowboy trailer. Won't be able to break the trans, but the engine is going to lug pretty bad with only 5 speeds to work with. Thermodynes like to keep the revs up. I routinely hauled D8K Cats with an R600 with a 250 Thermodyne and an 18-speed Quadruplex on a tri-axle Hyster lowboy. Most I hauled was about 111,000#. That's about all that 250 wanted in these hills around here. Oh, it got it done, but not in any hurry!
  3. The best way to avoid all of this is to keep the discussion on the 'Dogs and, like you said, be respectful. I don't come here to hear the political crap. I come to The Dog Pound for the Macks and the camaraderie.
  4. Try this on for size... bendix-tu-flo-400-500-1000-air-compressor-user-manual.pdf
  5. I think, in '73, the Maxis were still that gold color like 'train showed.
  6. Well, it depends on whether or not it had a Maxidyne. Thermodyne and Maxidyne were different colors back in those days.
  7. Not uncommon to lose spring pressure after the valves and seats are re-cut. This one sure has my interest!
  8. Okay! I have to do a “binary” joke and see if anybody gets it! There are 10 kinds of people: those who understand binary and those who don’t. Okay. Let’s hear it!
  9. Keeping my fingers crossed for you! But, it sounds like you are more than capable of figuring this one out. Can't wait to hear what you ultimately find.
  10. Amen to that! I've had my eyes burned before. Not a fan.
  11. I forgot to mention sticking rockers. Good catch! Sounds like valve train may be okay. So, like they said above, fuel delivery next? Sure did sound like valve train, though. But, then again, I HAVE been wrong before!
  12. LOL! I'm the same way! I have trust issues!
  13. Like FJH says, valve seat seems likely. Also, I have seen sticky valve guide before. Or, even too loose of a valve guide can cause leakage around the seat. Any kind of build-up on the seat? Burned spot on valve seat or seating surface of valve itself? Bad valve spring? Crack in head around seat? Loose seat? L:ifter sticking in bore? Has to be something there letting compression back out through the intake.
  14. That's my point! JOT is a pretty good forum. But, this one kinda spoils you! I check in on the WAI thread about every day. I even won that a time or two. But, this forum is just awesome. And, it's mostly Bulldogs!
