  1. I know what you mean there. Mine did not take that long, but it was miserable seeing her like that.
  2. Me too. Top one looks too tight around the tire. Bottom looks more "R-like" to me.
  3. I miss Rob. He knew a buttload of stuff.
  4. They ran those off overhead line shafts. Big flat belt from the shaft to the lathe. To reverse it, you’d twist the belt. Have run many of these converted to electric motor.
  5. Trying to put one in gear without a clutch brake when it's pointed uphill or downhill can be a bit of a chore. Best to leave them in gear when stopping and don't be trying to put it in needlessly.
  6. Stray off topic? Not here! Never happen!
  7. What can we say…SQUIRREL!!!
  8. Any news? Anything? Anything?
  9. After all that, they pulled back onto the I40W on-ramp and stopped. Then, later, they continued on westward. Have no idea what was going on.
  10. Took a while to get off the exit and back to the plant at lunch today. One of those multi-section trailers trying to make the almost-U-turn off I40 East onto US221 North. Traffic stopped both ways, They finally got situated enough to start letting a few cars go past. I figure they'll be here for a little while! Maybe they'll be gone by the time I have to leave this afternoon.
  11. Quick Release Valves...
  12. Welcome, and good luck on the project. These early models are a little (a lot?) off my radar. But, there are some guys on here that have knowledge of the older stuff. Hopefully some will chime in and steer you in the right direction. Also, check with some of the guys over at JustOldTrucks (http://forums.justoldtrucks.com/Default.aspx). They are not all-Dog there, but they do have some guys with tons of knowledge in the early stuff...lots of which I can't even identify!
  13. I joined a chainsaw group too. I used to clear right of way for a living. I have run a few. Clearing is NOT the same as logging. Different goals in mind. Nobody there thought my views were valid. Everything I said was wrong. So, I said screw it and never went back.
  14. Couch. TV. Dog. Whiskey. Whiskey helps.
  15. Yeah! That didn't come in that B61! Should be fine for a toy truck, but the Thermodyne will likely struggle with a 5-speed and a D8 Cat on a lowboy trailer. Won't be able to break the trans, but the engine is going to lug pretty bad with only 5 speeds to work with. Thermodynes like to keep the revs up. I routinely hauled D8K Cats with an R600 with a 250 Thermodyne and an 18-speed Quadruplex on a tri-axle Hyster lowboy. Most I hauled was about 111,000#. That's about all that 250 wanted in these hills around here. Oh, it got it done, but not in any hurry!
  16. I still like this later (CA-49?) ad!
  17. The best way to avoid all of this is to keep the discussion on the 'Dogs and, like you said, be respectful. I don't come here to hear the political crap. I come to The Dog Pound for the Macks and the camaraderie.
  18. Try this on for size... bendix-tu-flo-400-500-1000-air-compressor-user-manual.pdf
  19. He disappeared from JOT 4 years ago too.
  20. Just as long as they aren't chicken-shaped chicken lights!
  21. I think, in '73, the Maxis were still that gold color like 'train showed.
  22. Well, it depends on whether or not it had a Maxidyne. Thermodyne and Maxidyne were different colors back in those days.
