  1. Welcome to the Wonderful World of Dogs. My R only had 3 wires total, I believe, doing the brake/tail/turn duties. Spent a lot of time on an old R with air steering. Great on the road...kinda painful in a tight spot!
  2. To 600's point... I have several 1/34 scale B and R models from FirstGear. Also have several of the 1/25 scale "High Detail" B models. I'd give my eye teeth if they would put together a run of the R models in that larger, more detailed scale. Maybe a BMT edition?!!!! They say they'll consider making anything...for a fee. Maybe one of the "o-fficials" here should call FirstGear, and discuss an R-series with them? I'll sign up for the first run!
  3. This gold dog thing comes up pretty regularly. I'm glad somebody posted all that detail on dates! Seems like I am constantly having an argument with somebody or another about what the gold dogs meant! Funny thing is, they are usually ALL right...depending on the age of the truck. I'm old, so gold dogs meant Maxidyne power. All that newer stuff is for you younger whipper-snappers!!!

  5. Oh yeah. He apparently didn't realize it was on fire till he stopped. He got out, saw it, & reported it to one of our guys who called the fire department. Then, everybody stood & watched it burn. I wasn't at the dock when it came in. I heard 2 loud "booms" & went to see what was up. It was mostly smoke at that point. They kept it from spreading, but the tractor was toast.
  6. Truck showed up at the plant...on fire!
  7. Sorry. Too late!
  8. Huh-huh-huh! He said "hammer"... That's cool, Beavis!
  9. Truck's gone to a new home, locally. I can visit if I get lonely.
  10. That you, Vinny? Sorry, 'Dog! Couldn't help myself!
  11. LOTS of discussions on here about the door differences!!! The difference in the door SHELL is just the hole for the lock.
  12. Welcome to the world of Dogs! There are lots of parts interchangeable between F, R, & U models. The F & R doors are the same. So is the RH U door. Frames are also the same between lots of those. So, power steering components can come from those same models. I have a document somewhere which tells which air compressors and pumps can be used. 11R22.5 rims & tires will fit the spiders that came with 10.00-20s. More to come...
  13. ..."curb horsepower"... I like that! Can't argue with that! Even John Force said that flames on a race car made it go faster.
  14. ANY back-pressure down-stream from a turbo hurts it. The less back-pressure, the better. The more free-flowing the exhaust, the more the turbo spins. Whether or not you would actually FEEL the difference is unknown. You might. You might not. It depends largely on whether the current 4" pipe creates any back-pressure. And, still having a 4" section might defeat some of the gains the 6" would give. Or, it might not. Again, it depends on whether the current pipes cause any restriction or not. 6" does look cool, though!
  15. I'll send you a message. Check your inbox shortly.
  16. That R makes my mouth water...
  17. Or, somebody on here could take it...
  18. Think I'll list it on Craigslist. Seems to get more traffic.
  19. I've seen doubles behind those, now that you mention it. That's a gorgeous truck!
  20. They made 1,381 R615 trucks between 1965 & 1971. I drove a normally-aspirated one (END-864) years ago. It was only a little stronger-feeling than a normally-aspirated 6 (END-673) I drove in a B61 earlier. That non-existent title may or may not be an issue. But, NC is VERY picky about such things...especially once a vehicle achieves "antique" status. The only way to buy it might be for parts. Otherwise, you may never be able to title/tag it. It used to be that all you had to do was pay for a title search. But, now they don't even like to do that. Now, GA is a lot easier to deal with on antique stuff. After a certain age, they no longer issue a title! Or, at least that's how they were a few years ago. May still be. If you want to have some fun, try bringing in a GA vehicle with no title, and only a bill of sale, and try titling it in NC! On the other hand, if I bought a good cab, good hood, and maybe a nice single-axle rear setup, it might breathe new life into my NC-titled truck! And, as a side benefit, there would be cool parts to sell to someone else out there who needed them...like maybe a running 864. No matter. I probably won't make it out there before it sells anyway.
  21. Yeah. Told my wife I should go look at it. She didn't quite understand! She said I couldn't even get rid of the one I have! Guess she doesn't quite understand that, if the cab is good, I might restore the cab, drop it on mine, & keep it. Or, maybe that's exactly what she understood!
  22. Hmmm... Wonder how that cab is... Fairly close...
