  1. In one pic, you can see the stop cable. If will fall through the clamp. So, somebody just wedged the tube in the split of the clamp. Maybe it needs an end of some kind? In the other, you can see the slip-tube on the throttle linkage. But, there is no bracket on the air compressor (or anywhere) to lock the tube in place.
  2. Sure. I'll shoot a picture of the area & post it. I think I'm missing a bracket to clamp the hand throttle tube.
  3. ...can't we all just get along...
  4. And, if it's the PeterMack I think it is, the front fenders have been expertly widened to cover the tires on the wider front axle...
  5. Isn't that the one on the Pete' chassis???
  6. You ain't right, 57!
  7. Mack thrived on vocational trucks, for sure. One way to look at it is that Mack built the highway system for all the other guys to drive on. Today, Mack needs to build vocational trucks as well as "wimpy" highway trucks to stay healthy. My personal take on the whole Volvo deal is that they see Mack as just another comodity...that's all. I don't think they realize they are holding an American icon. Volvo is actually a pretty good company. But, every time a company buys another, they get the "WE bought YOU" attitude, and forget what the company they bought was all about...or even why they wanted to buy it in the first place! Only time will tell if Volvo will put Mack on the pedestal it deserves. Sure doesn't look like it so far! But, we can forget ever having a re-birth of an R-model, for example. The government will make sure of that. EPA, noise levels, etc... And, even if they did manage to put one together, us old guys would LOVE it. But, there's not enough of us to make it profitable. The majority of buyers would be fussing that the cab was too small, or the ride was too rough, or whatever. By the time they got done trying to make those buyers happy, it wouldn't be the same truck anymore. Just my opinion, for what it's worth... Thus sayeth The Weasel
  8. Looks like they took a half-dog off the RH door, and the letters off the hood, and crammed them together. Very imaginative...for a first grader. Hey, that's why the designers get the big bucks! Maybe if they worried more about making the trucks than the marketing "image"... Oh, well. I digress.
  9. There's the problem; I don't see any place to clamp the tube on mine. That's why I need to see the details on one similar to mine. Yours looks a little different.
  10. 'At's a purty good lookin' ole sidewinder!
  11. This one actually helps a little bit. It appears that, on the shutoff cable, the sheath has a "cap" or "ferrule" on the end of it, which is clamped in the bracket. Mine has no "cap" on it, and the sheath is merely wedged in the bracket. So, a cap would definitely help that one! The throttle cable continues to elude me, however! It looks like the sheath is stuck into the bracket on the throttle rod. That makes no sense. It would seem the sheath would have to be fixed in space somewhere upstream, and the cable continue to that rod-mounted bracket. I figure I'm missing a part SOMEWHERE, but can't quite identify it. Maybe more folks will chime in.
  12. Any way I could get you to take another close-up shot, focused directly on the cable ends and sheaths? I see where the throttle cable comes in, but can't tell exactly how it attaches! I think my shutoff cable is a generic, and maybe the end of the sheath isn't "original". They just stuck the sheath in the clamp, and sorta' wedged it there. The wire is connected fine, and it works fine. My throttle cable is completely hosed. It's broken off several inches from the firewall. I figured that gizmo on the throttle rod was the attachment point. But, for the life of me, I can't tell how it's supposed to connect...or work, for that matter. Thanks again.
  13. '70 R611. I believe it does have the Synchrovance drive.
  14. Any 6-cylinder with a Bosch A.P.E. type pump. Maybe a 675? Anybody? Anybody?
  15. Interesting! That could throw you for a loop!
  16. Would one of you fine gentlemen with a 673 do me a favor? I need to see some close up pictures of the details of the fuel shut off & throttle cables where they connect to the fuel pump. My shut off cable is functional, but sort of cobbled. The throttle cable is broken. I want to get all the mounting & attachment details cleaned up, but don't have any pictures of the original "factory" setup. Thanks!
  17. Definitely looks like an L-cabbed B-model. I'm just trickled pink that you got that, considering it wasn't a U, Vinny!!!! Sorry. I couldn't resist. You owe me one.
  18. Hey, 57. I still can't get over how freakin' cool your truck is!
  19. U-models fall over on their sides. Cabovers fall over on their faces. Same problem; different damage!
  20. Yep. Best way to get a 237 is to just get a 237! I knew there were differences, but didn't know how many! I have a sneaking suspiscion that some of the "converted" motors were just about half-converted. A 237 is one of the most common motors out there. Shouldn't be too hard to find one. 'Course, I'm still kinda fond of my 250-horse 673C. No, it doesn't have the low-end of the 237, but does have pretty good power up in the sweet spot.
  21. A 673C might already be fire-ringed. I've heard they were, anyway. And, the C has the extra head studs, like a Maxi. Know that piece for a fact. Seems like we discuss this every so often, but I'm not sure it is ever 100 percent nailed down. Seems like a good candidate for the wiki...
  22. Yeah. That's right. You'd have to offset the cab the other way to use it south of the equator, wouldn't you!
