Like the man said, the model number will tell you what engine the truck came with. And, the ID number on the engine is pretty much foolproof. I've got all the model number vs. engine number stuff around here somewhere. I just can't seem to remember where it is. IF I RECALL CORRECTLY, 864 was non-turbo (as in END-864). 865 was single turbo Maxidyne. Wasn't the 866 dual turbo??? Maybe not... Sorry if I'm incorrect. The drugs are still messin' with the Weasel! A couple of images to ponder (hope they are legible)...

Uhhh...a lot! Had to buy some different ones just to get the trailers in that picture. The Macks all came with 2-axle trailers, & I wanted tri-axles. The dozers are serious bucks, though! The 1/34 scale stuff is much less expensive, but not as cool as the 1/25 "high detail" series. Now, if they would do some 1/25 high detail R-models, I'd be in hog heaven! -
There are a couple of different ways to use them. First, you can "grub" with them. This is where you actually put the cutting edge of the blade below the surface of the ground. You then basically "plow" the ground...trees & all. Some people call this a "Rome plow" due to this characteristic. This is usually done on hiway or gas line right of way...where you don't want to leave the stump. Or, you can sharpen the hell out of it, & run it flush with the ground and "cut" with it. This shears the trees off, & leaves the stump. This is generally done on power line and reservoir jobs, where the stump doesn't matter. The "buster" (or splitter or stinger) on the lh side is to split the tree if it's too big to shear in one pass.

And, if you can't have a full sized one, you can always go 1/25 scale. I used to build plastic models, but don't have the time, patience, hands, or eyes for it anymore! These are pretty cool diecast collectibles, & you don't have to do all that tedious work.

Yep. Can't imagine keeping a monkey in the cab!

See if you can open this. It shows where to look for the model number... R-U-DM Unit I.D..pdf

I had a battery-powered cassette recorder, & I would record the shows off the tv. Then, when I was doing my homework, or there was nothing on tv, I'd play them back. I could watch them in my mind by just hearing them. I also used to watch NASCAR on the radio! But, that's another story...

Am I the only one who watched Movin' On when I was a kid? Another cheesey show. Overly-dramatic plots. And one of the most technically inaccurate tv shows of all time! But, a cool green KW & a Merle Haggard theme song! And, filmed "around here" for the most part.

Yeah, and I can't drink any Bourbon while I'm on the medicine! You guys may hear all manner of philosophical crap out of me for the next couple of days! Wait! Wait! Don't moderate me! I didn't mean anything!!! -
Here's one of the Cats equipped with a Rome K/G cutter blade, like I used to run. This is also how we loaded 'em before they started buying detachable gooseneck lowboy trailers! Came with a very high pucker factor!

By the way, does anybody know how to find the "my content" function on the mobile version of this site? I keep having to go to the "full site" to see my content. -

Amen, Rudy! -
I'm on several different forums, related to several of my interests. I'm sure others of you are too. Ever notice how most of the other ones are both used by & moderated by a#&holes? Seems like most of the members either have no sense of humor or don't quite get mine. The moderators seem to be on a power trip. They feel compelled to impose their will on the posters, rather than keeping watch on the posts. And, worst of all, new members seem to be unwelcome. If you're not in their clique, p$#s on you! Here at bmt, everybody is welcome. Nobody makes smart-ass comments just because you have a different point of view. Posters tend to treat others with respect. And, most importantly, the moderatos will actually engage in the conversations, rather than try to make the whole forum their own. Dang, this cough medicine is some good stuff!

Thanks, farmer. I'll get into the "rheumatism medicine" in a little while. Doctor says that's a bad idea. I told him it wasn't if you wanted to die!

Wife has the flu. Twin grandbabies have the flu. Now I have the flu. I guess the virus mutates so fast the vaccines can't keep up. Yuck... I probably didn't help it. We received a $1.3M machine this week (1 year late!), & I was running in & out of the building in the 5º weather all week. Probably lowers the body's ability to fight off "the germ". At least I get to visit with the drivers who deliver the pieces (5 trucks...so far), look at their trucks, & talk trucks. I was a little disillusioned, however, when one driver asked me how I got my non-clutch-brake-equipped truck in gear without a clutch brake! I told him you do it the same way you always did: wait a couple of seconds. Amazed that a professional driver didn't know that. Wow! I did go out this afternoon & start the Dog. First time since the mercury hit the single digits this week. It was, understandably, a little reluctant. But, the fact that a single 12V battery will start that old truck continues to please & impress me. I would have plugged up the block heater, but I didn't have that much life left in me! Later, guys...
