  1. Well, here's the fix for it. Homemade dual size studs: Took some 3/4-16 all thread and cut some pieces and rethreaded one side to 5/8-11 Retapped the crank and installed them: Got the flywheel mounted up. I then hooked some air to my air starter and it does spin!!! Didn't crank it too far as the oil filter mount is not attached and don't want oil all over the place. Getting a few other pieces together so I can maybe start it soon.
  2. I had mice a few years ago in my garage. I put lots of small traps with peanut butter. Took care of them pretty quick. Never had any real issues with vehicles. Only one time really, I knew they were getting into my '69 F100(which sits a lot). Found chewed up paper towel behind the passenger seat--that is how I knew they were in there. Never had any problems with wiring or other damage. Lucky. I did see one of the lil varmints though, as I was driving it down the road. One bastard came out from under the dash and ran under the seat. LOL!! Been a few years, haven't seen a mouse around. I don't have cats===I have a bird instead. Though I have seen a few random cats in the neighborhood and I think they must take care of the mice problems from the outside.
  3. Call your truck tire stores. They might know someone. Or maybe a mobile tire guy, they likely do split rims or know someone that does. Don't bother with car tires stores as they won't have a clue.
  4. One of mine popped loose at the upper ball socket, fell and bent around the axle. Ugh. I removed both sides and replaced them with all thread and heim ends. If I recall the holes are 9/16" in the mount, but I used 1/2" heim ends and bolts. Been about 7 yrs? and no problems yet. I could have made spacers to make them fit snug, but I can't see any issue with them working loose. Not that the front axle moves that much anyway.
  5. Yes, I do A LOT of searching and getting parts numbers before I walk into a part store. Though many would still ask what color the vehicle and if it was a 4 door and if it had delay wipers. Really? That is how their computers set up searches. My local stores quit asking "are you sure" or "what does it fit" because they want to make sure I get the right part. I used to tell them "you don't want to know what it actually fits". Boobies on the internet? Really? Is that anything like Winfall wimmin? OT do you know anything about this???????
  6. LOL!!! Sad, but true. I went to Autozone one day to get a new set of points for my '64 Galaxie. Ohhh, the tragic look I got from the young salesman. I had to tell him it was ignition parts. He'd never heard of it before. I have a good connection at one of the Napa stores. My age, knows his shit and can get it right the first time. My local Azone guy knows my name now and says hello to me when I walk in. Pretty good guy(I'd say mid 50's) and takes care of me well.
  7. Ya, I understand the front /rear axle spread issue and the sensors. We have the rubber strip on one of the shop doors that has an opener(don't work anymore) because sensor would not be feasible. Our guys run tow motors into them and they don't have openers!! Just spend a few thousand last fall to fix the bottom half of some doors so they close tight enough to keep the snow from blowing in.
  8. I heard from someone a story about an oil company(don't know who/what/where) that gave EACH employee $100K(100,000) christmas bonus. Not BP or such, I'm guess a small firm? Don't know how much BS it is, but I'm guessing someone is still making a boat load of money on oil.
  9. Well, there should be sensors on the bottom of the track to not allow the door to close when there is something in the way(like a tractor). Mostly for small children. I'm guilty, I took mine off and mounted them above the opener so that it always works and I can walk out the door after pushing the button and not have it go back up. No small children around so that is not a concern.
  10. I just put a generic shut off on mine. Like what is like on my 69 f100.
  11. Welcome. Post some pictures!
  12. Well, the double frame looks servicable. The back of the cab doesn't look rotted.
  13. Not too shameful looking.
  14. We had a company car way back, early 90's Sable wagon. It was a 5spd.
  15. Lost this one 6 yrs ago: '95, it was so nice..........and still trying to replace it. My brand new '96, 460/auto. I put a Vortech supercharger on it. Wow..that was fun to drive then. I even raced it one Wednesday night. It ran 15.8's with the blower. The Lightnings of the day would go mid/low 15's. There was one there that night and he came over wondering how the heck my big ol dually was running so fast. Only bad deal was the E4OD shifted for crap and you couldn't really get anything for them back then. You had to lift the throttle and let it shift and get back into the fuel. If not you'd just burn it up as it slipped away. Was all stock, just a turbo muffler and turndown so it had a nice little burble to the idle and a slight whine from the blower. Currently: 1989............gets the job done but just not the same as the '92-96 models.
  16. LOL....my sister and her daughter are very, very stubborn and DEMAND a stick shift vehicle!!! Non of this pansy automatic crap for them. My niece went to buy her Audi A4 about a year ago and she picked one out. The salesman gave her a stern.>"oh, you don't want that one". She asked "why?". "It is a standard shift". She told him.."well, ya I know". Don't see many 24 yr old girls wanting a std shift. My girlfriend can't drive a stick for nothing. Just doesn't have the "coordination gene" that is needed.
  17. Welcome to the forums. here comes Yardo in three, two, one...................Oh, wait...........he owns a detroit..................
  18. Thanks Dave. The "original" version had a blue streak in the bottom tread, not red. Ya, well you can't have everything. With the work I get into...they'd be black before the end of the day LOL!!! Guess that is why I buy black shoes today. My boots are all dark colors also.
  19. Yup, back for the day that is all they produced. Very low compression, low power engines. Kinda hard to figure with the technology of today how we ever got anything done back then?
  20. DON'T WELD IT!!!!!!! EVER!!!!! Not sure there are new ones available, at least NOS kind of thing. Likely someone has one, somewhere. I gave mine to a fellow in Florida a few years back when I stretched my truck and put tanks up on the side of the frame.
  21. I've been lurking around trying to find an f150 version. Only problem is they want $10k for a 1/2 ton gasser.
  22. I started wearing them shortly after that. I lived in my Nike Cortez(white with the red swish on them) back then. Boots are the only thing you can still get in the same basic style. You can't buy that style Nike anymore. At least from where I've looked. I just get plain black ones now anyway to keep from looking dirty.
  23. Very cool stories Randy. I miss the fact I don't have lots of pics from the things I did growing up, say mid teens til now. Lots of race car pics, but those are taken by someone else anyhow. I had a love for trucks growing up and always wanted to drive for a living. After watching shows like Movin On and BJ I thought it was the coolest job ever. Little did I know then LOL! I was told by my parents that I will get a REAL job. I'll hijack a little and show the only shot of me and a big truck. 1976 (red arrow points to me, I was 10) Mr Schott brought his truck to church one Sunday and was giving kids rides(he was retiring). I got more then one ride! I remember those twin pearl handles, the low air wig wag. I was in HEAVEN that day. Knowing how tiny those cabs really are, I realize how small I was back then. I'm barely as tall as the fender. I still love that style truck.
  24. 28 yrs ago: (closest I could find) Few months ago:
  25. They also list Kaitlyn Jenner. Wtf.
