  1. The cheapie $10 version. They have the bigger electric versions like I saw online for $150. The air version seems to work so far. It did draw it down, but with the leak it would not go beyond 15 in of vacuum. Ya, I figured since the system is meant for 100+ lbs, I could put 20 or so into it and then get the spray bottle out and see where it leaks. Be easier then tearing each fitting apart to inspect the O ring. When I put it together, I used the PAG 100 oil to lubricate everything. But, that oil does not seem to be very slippery and I still was hesitate about how well it would seal. I found out, I was right. I'd rather use like Vasoline or such to get things to really move around easier, but not sure if that is compatible.
  2. Got me a can of 134a for $120 from my buddy at Napa. I also picked up one of those air/vacuum pumps from HF. I hooked it up and it pulled a vacuum.........only problem is I have a leak as it won't hold. As soon as I pull it, it drops to zero. Ugh, time to start going fitting to fitting. Wonder if I could put some air pressure INTO the system and use soapy water to find the leak??
  3. I've heard differing views about using a 237 behind a du/tri/quad. Usually just skip splitting the gears. No need to, and the way the power comes on with a 237 it just doesn't like to be short shifted. I can't say for sure, never driven one. Had the same reservations about using one in my truck. I like all the gears(so far) and I guess it would be a change not having to change gears every 10 seconds. Can you just put a thermodyne pump on a 237 and make it respond correctly? I would suppose there is A LOT more to it.
  4. That was my thought. Didn't know if it had rubber seal or just tapered seat
  5. Truck looks good! Don't worry, the shifting thing will come to you with practice. You shoulda seen me my first summer!!!
  6. $2500??? Can't get a decent 300 out of Adelmans for what that whole truck went for!!!
  7. Our local driver from CCX, his take on the interior cameras? Fkit. Was told not to smoke, he lights up and then flips the camera off. He is allowed only 3 write ups. He has yet to get one. He's been at it for LOTS of years and just waiting for them to cancel his ticket. Hasn't happened yet.
  8. Just have to look in any of our company vehicles. It just baffles me how people can screw stuff up? OH, that's right..........IT'S NOT THEIRS!!!!!! Of course their vehicles resemble it too.
  9. I noticed last year a couple of the lines are damp at the pump. This past winter I just loosened them a touch and then resnugged them. Ran the truck last Friday night and don't notice any real leak, never was bad, just damp at the fitting. Is there a rubber seal that can be easily replaced? Don't want to open a can of worms just taking things apart to find out.
  10. I only started when Kevin from ATHS said we should try it. I don't do much with mine but it does come in handy sometimes. Some people are post whores.......I ain't one. Request sent.
  11. Now that the truck is fully operational maybe I'll send my money in?
  12. Well I took the truck for a ride tonight. Steering works fine. Going to take getting used to. Sometimes it is almost too light then sometimes it gets heavy. Running down the road it was fine and didn't feel loose.
  13. Yup. It turns down the front air pressure so to not slide the front tires on a wet road. Back in the earlier days, tandem drive trucks did not have front brakes. You had to have two axles with brakes, so they eliminated the front axle since it just slides with minimal weight on it.
  14. How uncomfortable could THAT be!! I live in cowboy boots and I don't think I could pull that off.
  15. Ya, the ones I've seen on Amazon, typical small 1/4 or 1/3 hp for under $100. Just didn't know how much vacuum they will pull. I know they won't do it fast, but that is not an issue.
  16. Going to road test mine maybe this weekend. Going to find out what all this is about. I did put a flipper valve to shut it off going down the road. Hope that helps. Yes, the torque valve senses the input in the draglink(either from the steering wheel Or the tires) and uses air to push the tie rod in said direction. Either for good or bad. I never though much about the tires giving input, but now that you mention it, it is entirely plausible. So being able to turn it off going down the road is even better.
  17. That is the catch with every brand of machinery. Each one has different controls(at least from what I've heard). I'm pretty handy with my buddies bobcat, but I know a guy with a Gehl and the sticks control everything unlike the bobcat with foot pedals.
  18. Kinda figured that. Brass and wood stuff. The comment was just kinda throw out that if "anyone" wanted to park inside they could(for a fee).
  19. Musta been some pretty stout wire and anchored into just about everything on the front wall of the building to pull it all down like that.
  20. I haven't sent my registration in. Playing it by ear and staying in my trailer so no other reservations are needed anyway. At our club meeting last sunday, it was mentioned by our RVP that if you wanted to park INSIDE, they actually have buildings available for trucks(for an added fee). Interesting........
  21. Looking good. I'm kinda a round headlight kinda person myself, but nothing against the work you're doing.
  22. I can remember back 20 some yrs ago, buddies dad had asphalt business(still does). Was over the shop and was talking. I mentioned I'd never run a backhoe. We hopped on the old Case extendahoe and went out to the corner of the property and he said "here, have some fun". He told me his dad had done the same thing when he was young. When his dad came to check on him, he dam near had a pond dug in the middle of the parking lot!!!!
  23. LOL!!!
