  1. Wow.....that looks like A LOT of work ahead!!!!! I suppose one piece at a time will get it back to good.
  2. Replaced the Buick V6 in parents car many years back. It was an '87, put an '86 motor in from a buddy. The '86 had SAE bolts for the front accy's and the '87 was all metric. I had to go buy a bunch of odd bolts to put it back together. Mid 80's is when things started to switch over. You have to keep both sets of sockets/wrenches handy. Love my old 60's stuff. With about 4 wrenches you can completely dismantle a car/truck.
  3. Ya, didn't the Professor just pass recently? Like 89 yrs old? Someone posted a Craigslist ad with that plane for sale. Sick.......but funny too.
  4. We have both local enough I get same day service from either sometimes(depends on if they have it in stock). Master has more of the unique stuff(hardware and stuff). Grainger is more mechanical stuff. I keep both books handy and get it from either.
  5. Wow..went to the site. Fantastic work!!!!
  6. We got whacked by that storm. Not so much snow, as ice. I had to run to Orrville on Sunday Mar 9th(day after storm) and the highway looked like a bumper car session had just ended. Not much remaining but the skid marks and the downed signs and guard rails every 100 yards. Down rt 77 and across 30 to 57. You could tell that A LOT of people were not having stellar days. The fast lane was still all ice on 30, but on the way home after lunch it was clean and dry. Birds of a feather?????
  7. Was that 855 to complete with Cummins? How big is the 460hp motor? Still 7xx ci?
  8. Looks like you have a longggg road ahead. Good start though. What's the story on the 63 1/2 Galaxie??
  9. My race trailer has electric jacks on it. I was not going to crank that bastard every weekend LOL!!
  10. Yup, that's it. Seems the Acar had a 391 ford truck engine in it?
  11. Yup, remember the write up in WOT about Betsy. The fellows name is on the tip of my tongue. My first driving job here where I work 27 yrs ago, it was a brand new red 1985 F350 stake truck. I would stop and wash it at the spray wash every chance I got(on my own dime). SInce then, every driver we've had can't seem to remember to take their lunch trash out of it. Pisses me off to NO END when I get in any of the shop trucks and look around. Food, trash, candy wrappers, coins, grease on EVERYTHING. F'n slobs! Our 95 F350 pickup is pretty wore out, we bought it used with 250K miles on it. I still will stop at the spray wash and clean it up before I go to a customer. "Used" does not mean it has to look like shit. One employee lives just down the street from work(and walks). Sometimes I'll run him home if we leave at the same time. He got in my '89 F150 for the first time and said "wow, this is nice". I told him "Yup, no one from work has ever driven it!"
  12. Strange coincidence that both high beams are out? Had this happen to a friend. Only found out after changing the bright switch. Then checked for power at the plug and found lights were burnt. Doh.
  13. I think that rig is outta East Canton. They have a shop on Rt 30, at the top of the hill west of town. They usually have a few R models out by the road. Never seen this beast before! If not, it is painted just like the place in East Canton.
  14. Drill out to 5/16"-18? that takes a .257 drill, so that is just over the existing 1/4-20.
  15. rust free cab!!! Front budd hubs? Someday.............................
  16. Sounds like an old Roadway truck?
  17. I guess that is close to what my 42" bentz weighs.
  18. Neither of my cables have ends on the casing. Just cut off like a mower throttle cable. Looks like you just need to revise the clamps so that it will actually grab the casing.
  19. Yours should basically look like mine. I would get a new clamp for the shut off cable that will actually grip the casing. For the hand throttle just duplicate the bracket like mine and you should be good.
  20. So typical. Who ever remembers to reach in and set the brakes??
  21. Welcome to the "other" jungle Tom.
  22. I ran alt wire directly back to solenoid on starter, #6 I think? Bigger the better. I just hooked the voltmeter onto the ignition switch so that it comes on with key, and ground to cab. Pretty sure I just taped off the alt wires and left them alone. Been 12 yrs, so details are fuzzy.
  23. Looks like metal mice got ahold of those frame rails LOL!!!
  24. Convertor dolly, some welding and PRESTO-CHANGO you can pull anything LOL!!!
  25. I have mine through State Farm. I used to just have std insurance(not commercial) and it was like $350/yr? Something like that. I switched it to Historical and it's cheap.
