  1. Welcome aboard.
  2. Alliance, Ohio? If it was last week, I'd hook up with you. Back to work this week.....ugh.
  3. B model king pins are pretty easy. Did mine and I've fought with the old Ford I beams version for years. The Mack literally fell out! Took three hours to tear down and that was starting with the truck sitting on the tires to putting the tools back away. I also got my air compressor rebuilt. Mason truck parts: http://www.masontrucksales.com/ It was $500 and only took a day. Really fast service. One day shipping, there one day, one day shipping back. Nice work. That was 10 yrs ago?
  4. Ya, the big "white Death" was suppose to be all that. Nope, got maybe 5 inches and just frigid cold air. Oh well. Next week's high will be zero so might as well get used to it?
  5. Are you using a link in your favorites? If you right click on the link you can see the properties. I wonder if it got changed somehow? Type in the real address and then resave it to your favorites.
  6. I got my CDL the home taught way also. After dragging my 40ft trailer with my pickup the driving part was not hard. I only had to remember the air brake stuff. Took my temp test and then waited a few weeks before scheduling a road test. Presto, all was good. The place about an hour south of me rented trucks so you didn't have to bring one. Makes it really easy because you know it will pass the pretrip LOL! I'm in Ohio, my truck is registered Historical and I've dragged my race car around for 12 yrs now. Been to PA, MI, KY, IN, NY without much issue. Just fly under the radar and keep the truck clean and they ignore me for the most part.
  7. Yup, you can never get used to all the attention of driving a B model around.
  8. That blue disc is commonly know as a capacitor. Looks like the magic smoke got let out LOL!. Doubt anything else is actually damaged in the circuit. Glad to hear you got the truck back on the road.
  9. Someone posted this on another site. I remember it well, and it always makes me buckle over in laughter: http://hooniverse.com/2012/09/24/truth-in-advertising-hazard-fraught-tools/
  10. Well, then you can dicker on the price since it has only a 237 in it LOL!! Who would want it, right?
  11. Brownsville? Heavy equipment show? Never been to it, but I know it is a good show if you liie old shovels and trucks.
  12. Give me 40 acres,......lol.
  13. Well, you could always relegate him to permanent tire washer?? LOL!!!
  14. I'm green RED with envy................
  15. "Excuse me while I whip this out"............ AhhhhHH! For my next impression........Jesse Owens "That hands steady as a rock"............."but I shoot with this one".
  16. I hope he left the top of the hood dull. Imagine driving into the sun .....ugh!!!
  17. Reverse painting. Quite a nice job too. Better then the "30 yr old kids" here at my work. Been years back, our white shop truck had a HUGE penis drawn on the hood(the whole hood). I was PISSED beyond all pissed. Of course all you hear is "No me" (anyone remember Family Circus cartoon and the ghost "not me" when someone did something wrong). Total disregard for the company property. Still makes me mad when I think about it.
  18. I know he had all the vents taped over. He has thin blood and cold all the time now so I imagine 20 yrs ago he was the same. I met him about a year before getting out of trucking. Don't recall him complaining about it but likely was just used to it. If it is like my B model...it is drafty and you either freeze or the heater burns you up. No middle ground at all.
  19. My buddies last truck: Very similar to yours, but no air ride and a bit more wore out. Always liked it though as I had built a model of one many, many years before knowing him. Just before selling it off, we got it all washed up and took it out for cruise night. Back in the late 80's, early 90's we had about 12 miles of 5 lane that was packed all weekend. Had lots of fun out there with the hot rods. After cruising we took it to the local hot spot(bar) for some pool and fooseball. Wow..was that a longgg time ago.
  20. Glad I never got into smoking. Glad to hear you are stepping up and putting a stop to it. Just don't replace smoking with eating! My friend did and now he's 320#! Ugh, it's killing him worse then smoking did.
  21. I used to do that kinda stuff. Not so much anymore. I remember back in the early 80's, college, parking was a premium and I usually got a front row spot due to knowing who left when and where. Anyhooo, my buddy had a '57 F100 and I had my '70 F100. We found a spot where the two vehicles on the sides had parked to the other side of their spots, leaving a pretty wide opening. Since his '57 only had door locks on the passenger side(remember those?), I backed in on the right side, he on the left. Door handle to door handle(mirrors folded in). We actually barely went over the lines on each side. We got out and went inside. Didn't have cameras like now, so no pictures. It was good for a laugh back then.
  22. Good to hear from you. Hope you have a Merry Christmas!
  23. Didn't someone post that one a few weeks back? maybe a month?
