  1. I had no idea that Dan sold it! Wow. I know he sold off the Duel Pete a few years back to Brad Wike, but thought he would keep the RD truck. Life musta good busy for him and decided to move it. Glad it went to a good home.
  2. Dan Bruno has the one real version left. Goes by ConvoyDuel on here. He gets busy and doesn't frequent the forums much anymore.
  3. There are basically two styles of hitches, round or square tube. Most trailers like that one are the round tube. Mine is the 4" square. Examples: round tube: http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Coupler/Bulldog/BD0289640300.html?feed=npn&gclid=CLe78r7ryLkCFbFDMgod0g0ASA square tube: http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Coupler/Bulldog/BD0289650300.html This is the controller I have: (not cheap!) http://www.etrailer.com/Brake-Controller/Warner/1300-80.html?feed=npn&gclid=CP3OiIPsyLkCFeIRMwodD00AVw I had the electronic version from my pickup, but hated it when I tried it in the Mack.
  4. Yup, no biggie. My trailer originally was a gooseneck/ball style. I bought the 5th pin for it, the pins are all pretty common sized, so should not be a problem. Just need an electric brake controller(I would suggest air over electric, not the new electronic versions) Only issue with mine was the tube for the insert was too long, I had to cut about a foot off to get it tall enough to be level. All depends on the manufacturer.
  5. Good job. LIke said............now your hooked! I took my test in a truck just like that. So easy to drive..........a kid could do it. Oh, wait.........................LOL!! Are those Elton John sunglasses you're wearing??? (couldn't find a pic of his pink star shaped glasses........dammit)
  6. Sounds good(well, the engine anyway) LOL. Just tell him, watch the TACH. if you want to just split a gear, you need about 300 RPM increase to be able to downshift. If you just shift the main box, you need about 1500 RPM to downshift one gear. Don't worry about the speedo, just keep an eye on the tach.
  7. Dang, dun about missed this post. Glad to hear you're still out and about('cept for the heat).
  8. Glad everything at the house is okay. Yes, pretty close for comfort! At least the crazy took his own life before he took anyone elses.
  9. I'm thinking the old stainless trailer!! That would be the only thing I would want to get, if it was nice enough. Not that I need it, but it's cool. That black Titan don't look to bad either?
  10. Ya, my thought too. Be nice if they drywalled over all that combustible spray foam!! Imagine that gas hot water tank burp'n an ember off the burner and POOF............it's be all gone.
  11. Very classy looking!
  12. 12 yrs ago, I thought it would be fun to use my B model to pull my race trailer. Now I wished I had kept my F350. It was "fun", now it's a job and don't look forward to it near as much as I did 12 yrs ago. I go about 5K miles a year. I keep thinking more motor will make it more bearable?? It gets me there, but sure is not the most comfortable thing. As I get older, I want "comfortable". The "attaboys" and "that's cool" don't cover the aches and pains.
  13. Even the 2" rachet straps are CHEAP to buy anymore. They build a 10 sec race car and can't afford some kind of tie downs? I've seen some with those little 1" straps with J hooks bent on the end. Tying down a 3000# vehicle. Well, the strap says it's good for 750# each, so I should be good, right?? I remember one couple that ran a '63 Galaxie. Their trailer was soooo short, they would pull the car up against a 4x4 on the front edge of the trailer and then run two straps from the rear bumper FORWARD to the end of the trailer. OMG.....if they ever had to hit the brakes that car would take the roof off their pickup.
  14. That will be pretty cool when done. I gotta agree on the 4 point tie down. Don't half azz it like I see SOOO many drag racers. One chain on the front, one come along on the back!!! JEEZUS.....they are VERY trustworthy! I knew a fellow 20 odd years ago that didn't even strap his car down!!! Yup, pull up on trailer and put in park and then get in truck and drive away. I don't know how he never killed anyone(or himself). Even if you mount a pair of short chains on the front, pull car up, latch it and let it fall back tight. Then two rachet straps on the back. Easy.
  15. I seem to remember the pair, the purple/pink one especially. Look'n pretty good after getting dolled up a bit with fresh paint.
  16. Seems Dan had some very interesting conversations with "Ernie" when doing the R-D truck. Have to search back as I think he posted about his death last year and made comments.
  17. Mine did great for a few years, my worst leak was air wiper switch. I think it needs a new o-ring again? It is annoying that it won't hold air over night(or even through an afternoon), but not worth chasing. After putting a new leveling valve on the air ride, it stays up for weeks, even if air is down on truck.
  18. I didn't realize they offered alum square tanks. Was that an option back then? I'd really like to have them for my truck. Been talking of making my own, but if they are out there?
  19. FEMA leftovers?
  20. Looks good, sounds good!! Nice job.
  21. Slacked most of Sunday. Had a racer come pick up a transmission I fixed for him. Slacked off some more then got the hog out and went for a 2 hr ride. Came home and washed the pickup. Slacked off and went to bed.
  22. Look'n good. I'd check into the brake light pressure switch, likely stuck and the reason the brake lights come on as soon as you turn the power on.
  23. Know a local fellow that has a 501 gasser B model pulling a pair of very short doubles. 55 mph is lucky going downhill. It too is a very nice truck. Just really, really slowwwww.
  24. Hmmm, good point The trailer is rated for 21K pounds. They figure the truck weighed around 20K, and the SUV is on the nose supported by the tractor so "it should be fine" DOH!!!! Only problem, every time one axle gets light, the other two take the weight(all of it). Sooner or later you are going to break an axle stub off.
  25. Yes, looked like typical 3spd, but the tailhousing was bigger and the main case had a bump in the side. Never took it apart to know what all is inside. There was a solenoid on the tailhousing that was the kickdown to get it back to direct. The lockout cable bolted on back there somewhere also. It sat under the bench for 12 yrs? Finally sold it to a fellow I know from racing. Gave it awayt for $150 for everything. Found out they are worth $1000?? DOH!!!
