  1. Wow....is that a crack (running from the air line back)? Yowza.....
  2. More to my liking. I've seen those conversion in restoration catalogs for cars/trucks. Just haven't seen one in person to see if I like them or not at night.
  3. Now that's cool! Not that I'm a fan of it, but I can imagine the work it took to make the boat look like the chebby.
  4. Welcome to the site! Nice project.
  5. I just had to share. This got posted at another forum I frequent. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6_RrFdI91c
  6. How is the air line? Have you removed the output line and see if you get air pressure directly from the shutterstat? My original line was old enough and had clogged shut going to the shutters.. A coat hanger shoved through it enabled it to work til I got a new line.
  7. I too know Brayden from the NEO ATHS chapter. Really nice guy from talking with him the last couple years. Never been down to his place though(not in the market for anything).
  8. Okay, in line with "things happen for a reason"............ A buddy of mine, retired, purchased a diesel pusher motorhome and a new two car stacker trailer. He and wife are going on the road and go to some west coast race tracks. Something he always wanted to do. He is 70 yrs old and decent health. They have been working on the details and getting ready to roll the last month. He has had issues with motorhome(used) and kept taking it back to dealer to fix things. Nothing serious, but he is pretty finicky and wants it "right". A week ago Monday he wakes with chest pains and goes to doctor. He ends up getting two stints put in Tuesday. Now, he had open heart about 16 yrs ago and found out that it is usually good for about 10 yrs before usually needing more fixes. He made it 16 yrs without fuss. He was to leave over a week ago to head out to west coast, but since he kept dealing with dealer they stayed home. Good thing. Dealing with a stroke on the highway is not a good thing. I stopped over Sunday afternoon and hung out in the garage with him for about 2 hours. He was feeling pretty good. They are now leaving after Xmas. He did mention that he won't be selling his home right away. They may find that living on the road is not all that it is cracked up to be. If he gets a year in and runs a few places he wants to, then his bucket list will be all checked off anyway. He can come back home and sell off the big motorhome and step back into a gasser class A like he had. I find that many times I want to get mad about situations. Then after the fact I find that it happened that way for a reason. And usually a pretty good one at that.
  9. Saw that on the news. Took a lot of people to put that all together. Very cool!
  10. It's now an 1.5 hrs east of me. Last owner was a bit closer(1/2 hour). Shoulda gone and kicked the tires this past summer. Not that I have any need for it.
  11. Looks to have a Tachograph in it? That's interesting for a "newer" vintage of truck. Typically seen in a 50-60's era truck.
  12. Dan............sumthin a miss about that B model. Narrow grille with a Cummins in it? Interesting grille work is what caught my eye. Looks pretty rust free too. Looks to be a brownie about 1/2 way back under that cover? I see shift rods.
  13. They musta used the same lasers they used here in Ohio? Or just really bad string? The people that put the bridges in and the people that put the road surface down remind me of this photo: They stand and wonder how they got them so far outta whack...............
  14. From their website: "7" Round headlight w/ 20" cable and connector. Galvanized closed-back body. Truck-lite LED bulb. Replacement for Mack trucks." So they are offering their headlight bucket with Truck lite bulb. Still at $521 each I'm not in the market. Sorry. Adding that kind of cost to a new $100K truck is not a big deal. Adding $1K to a 50 yr old truck is not so budget friendly. They are not selling Tiawan knock offs, they appear to be OEM manufacturers. SLC is their distributor to the aftermarket. http://www.atc-lighting-plastics.com/ I won't bash them for trying to offer their product to a market like ours. Only problem is we don't have the funds to spend on items of this nature.
  15. Shoot, just give it me and I'LL enjoy it for you?? Sounds reasonable and no one has to feel hurt about not paying enough for it> See how easy that was?? LOL!!! I think you have to decide how quick you want to move it. $10K is wayy to cheap in my eyes. I know you can not recoup alot of what you spent, but you can't just give it away either. Even my old clunker I would not let go for $10K. You can't replace it for that, so why sell it for that. Putting it in the right market will get you the most money.
  16. Nice work. I remember doing that in grade school. Don't have any to show. Of course back then I chipped it out of rock cause paper wasn't invented yet LOL!!!!
  17. Don't see that design on our bridges around here anymore. They'd rather fill it with asphalt and have speed bumps? Stupid freak'n idoits. They rebuilt 10 miles of highway here, full deal with 3 lanes and everything new. The bridges are rediculous to cross over. The approaches are at weird angles to match up with a bridge deck that goes in the opposite direction. Throws you out of the seat on each end of the bridge. 5 yrs later they are getting around to grinding and adjusting the piss poor job they did originally. I figure they company that did the work has the most unique laser levels made. They all CURVE...............
  18. DOH!!!!!!!!!! That's funny right there...I don't care who ya are.
  19. Yup, luck of the draw on what you get and how much you have to pay for it. Over all they are a pretty bullet proof lil truck. They all can nickel/dime you to death if you let them. Get one that is running/driveable and go from there. Little improvements are easier to deal with then one that is a basket case to start with. You can still buy a lot of stuff for them, but some things are getting expensive(like rebuilding motor). Mines popped a couple head studs in the last few years. Mack gets stupid money for that stud and nut(5/8"). I bought a few extras to have for later but might look at talking to ARP to see what they offer that might fit. If it's geared right, it can get 8-9 mpg easily running down the road.
  20. Look daddy an alligator. That reminds me, I gotta call your momma.
  21. With the slip yoke in the middle, your two far ends will be 90* out. NO way around it. As long as each single shaft itself has the ends lined up it(especially with a slip yoke where someone might split it), you are fine.
  22. Looks great. Sounds like you are putting some miles on it.
  23. "Evidence............valuable evidence, that I'm gunno use to convict a maniac, that I've been trying to apprehend, and I've been in high speed pursuit of, for 700 miles. He's wanted for the man act, kidnapping and the attempted murder of over 20 brother officers".
  24. My friend has one of the little buzz box Harbor Freight generators, 1000w? It basically is a weed eater motor and sounds like it. The 1000/2000w Hondas are stupid quiet and if need to run one at night it is not an issue. If you only need power during the daylight hours I would not get too concerned about a noisy generator. I hassled my buddy one day after starting his little Honda. I told him I hope I don't have to listen to that supid thing all day(at the race track). We all got a good laugh. It is as quiet as a low humm. Seriously quiet. I just put an Onan on my truck to power my race trailer. Paid $500, then made a box and fuel tank for it. You could piece meal something together a lot cheaper then what I did. Kinda overkill for your situation. Like mentioned, get a solar panel and use it to charge your deep cycles. I have two deeps in my trailer to power radio, lights, frig, water pump, winch. One was surviving, but with more accessories I add I just put two in it. Plus with 2-3 day weekends the one would be pretty dead by the last day.
  25. Very cool!!!
