  1. Ya, no problemo their Tom. I can see NO reason why that could cause me ANY grief LMAO!!!
  2. Here's the ol B working it............
  3. Sorry to hear you sold the B, Terry. Glad it is not transforming into a KIA!!
  4. No Hooters around here...............ah, well, that didn't sound right> Only a TK, so they get my vote currently.
  5. It was built as a goose, but I bought the 5th wheel plate insert for it. Much easier to hook to then spotting it onto a ball.
  6. I try to follow the rules, but my big thing is getting into my neighborhood. I have to turn right off a 4 lane onto a barely 2 lane township road. There is no way I can get my junk around using just my lane and not take down some poles in the process. The 4 lane is pretty busy, but I usually watch traffic, letting LH lane get by me while keeping an eye on what's directly behind me. I slow, have signal on, then just ease over to about the middle of the two lanes to make sure no one can move around me either way just as I get to intersection. I then cut sharp at the last minute while making sure no one snuck around me on the right. Has worked well for quite a few years now. BUT, I drive for everyone, just like on my motorcycle. You can't assume anything on a bike! I too try to blink for trucks, if in my pickup to Mack. A majority flash a " thanks". Many don't bother or never looked to see me blink them over. I don't cut it short, ever. I always get 100ft past a truck before thinking about coming back over(unless special circumstances). I don't want cut off no more then the next guy. Like just last weekend, even with my little hood this minivan just about disappeared as he cut over about 5ft past my bumper. Why? no reason, there was no one in front of me.
  7. Ha...seems mine was the same way when I did it many years ago. Seemed odd, but I think the bearings wear and the bearing preload that was there 50 yrs ago is now gone? I assume it uses a solid spacer, not a compression version like say a Ford 9" would use? Or am I wrong(again)? When I had the trans tailhousing off converting to electronic speedo, I removed one of the shims from the rear bearing to help with the looseness in the transmission. It did help a bit, as I only took out like a .005 shim(if I recall correctly). I used to borrow a 1" impact from a friend, but finally found a nice IR version for decent money(lower end model). I put a 50ft 1/2" air line on my compressor and used a big fitting just for it. It does a nice job, better then nothing at all LOL!
  8. Ya,,,,that about covers it. You never know what Barney Fife is going to do on the side of the highway. I've got 12 yrs of running around in my rig with little issue. I do have a CDL, so that base is covered no matter what.
  9. Not a horrible job to do if you have a big enough bar to get the nut loose. Then it's all downhill.
  10. Not sure why the nickname "pot" for a cattle trailer.........but this city boy has heard it before and picked up on it. Maybe Mike will fill us in on the reason?
  11. The small one was ALOT easier. The frame rails fit on my mill, you could move stuff around with just your fingers LOL!!! Nut'n like the real thing LMAO!!
  12. I know he had a real bad time with the R model cabs. Seems whoever was going to duplicate them was screwing with him. Guess maybe he got it straightened out? I never had any bad dealings with Joe myself. Everything I have got moved upstairs and never got back to it. BUT, in talking with a fellow this past weekend at our big show in Ashland we might try to get one of the scale truck clubs to come next year? We have plenty of building to use for their cities. I think it would go over great!
  13. I was wanting to make a spread axle too. Thought that with the long frame truck would look pretty cool. Well, you can see that never got anywhere. Have too many FULL SCALE projects to deal with LOL!! There is a guy in NJ that builds kits for people. He has done some very unique trucks through the years. Haven't been in contact with him for a few years now. Last thing I got from him was a billet KW grille for my truck. Very, very nice piece! He even built a B model sleeper cab a few years back. Pretty sure he did an R model too. Can't say what the quality was like in person, but in pictures they looked pretty good. At least for a 1/14 scale kit they looked presentable. You can see the grille laying there:
  14. Ugh...I have one of them money pits too LOL!!! I bought mine back in mid 90's, when they first came out. I stretched mine about 5 yrs ago: Built my own carrier bearing assembly. I have a couple flat bed kits(homemade), but never finished any of it. The truck is about 95% done, but are they ever???? Did I mention they are a money pit??? They stuff that you can buy for these will make your real truck choke on diesel. It's crazy. One guy was working on a real working air ride suspension. I still the true original though: Though it has come a longggg way since day one: Mid 80's What is looks like today: was starting to rebuild it and lost interest about 15 yrs ago. Surprisingly, the body on this truck is the SAME body they used on the AMT Kenworth back in the day. I tried the cab and hood from the kit and it lined up nicely with the floorpan.
  15. Sad to hear. I remember his clip in the ATHS videos that were made about 20 yrs ago now??
  16. It's white with a red knob on the control. It is a Warner brand. I know I've seen others out there too, and I think they were MUCH cheaper than the Warner. http://www.etrailer.com/Brake-Controller/Warner/1300-80.html?feed=npn&gclid=CPnlruup_bcCFe9cMgodlCgARw
  17. Dan? I can't really say for sure. I knew of him, got to spend some time with him this weekend, but don't recall where. It's Ohio, just not sure where?
  18. Made it home................ugh. What a weekend. 3 days of 90* heat and sun(not a bad thing for a show, but it was brutal to work in it). Glad I got the a/c unit put on my trailer. Made a nice retreat and sleeping comfort. Dan Van Ness with his Superliner and LM on the back. Lamar's General(for JT), got a Cummins in it: Short video of the Light show Saturday night. Not alot of trucks left by that time of the evening(many left for hotels), but it was nice anway: http://s259.photobucket.com/user/Freightrain66/media/2013%20Ohio%20Vintage%20Truck%20Jamboree/2013-06-22_21-35-55_511_zps86a20f71.mp4.html In line for the truck pulls: Got to drive this ol White that is owned by Jim Conrad(NEO chapter member) It was like driving the old fashion cars at Cedar point when I was growing up. Had a few extra pedals to operate, but it gave you that kinda feeling(with authentic sound) with the heavy manual steering. No metal rail to steer it for you though LOL! Jim has the one behind it also. Very, very nice restorations.
  19. Vinmeister....the LMSWJ has a 300 supercharged Cummins. The W has a 318 leaker and straight pipes! Just got back to my spot with my truck. The let us pull while they set up for the show later. My ol dawg went 263ft. Not hateful for only 187 hp. I think someone was taking video. I hope so!! I had a blast and could see doing this again. Dont want to tear up equipment though.
  20. Just copy and paste the address at the top of the screen. Much easier.
  21. Im here and working. 214 was the count for Saturday. We had 257 total last year for the weekend. We had a slow tace, jake off and truck pulls today. Perfect weather. I have a few pics and some video from the light show last night. Have to wait til I get home before I can post them.
  22. Prayers sent for Mike. Suddenly, life changes and most times we don't have a chance to decide when that happens.
  23. The ol shoulder still hang'n in there after all that wrenchin?
  24. Did you get the air over electric controller? They are FAR superior to the electronic versions out today. Those new ones that "ramp up" power are a PITA. Very hard to use going downhill without constantly readjusting it. Beautiful truck!
